Chapter 968: Voidclaw Assassin 1.

“This is really getting out of hand now, do we really need to push ourselves that far just to win a one-on-one battle?” Knight said lazily as his legs touched the ground.

“Clearly, if we want to win this match, we have to get rid of her,” Agnes said, turning towards Makeda, who was casting a spell, once she was done a halo appeared and she sent it flying towards Nuru.

As the Halo clashed into his back, his veins seemed to lit up with a golden glow before dimming a moment later, and a few bruises on his hands healed instantly.

“What a cheat power,” Knight muttered.

“Would you be good enough to hold him?” he asked as he prepared to go against Makeda again, gripping his daggers in an inverse grip.

“Don’t worry, I basically have him surrounded, I should survive long enough, and if he ever comes close to defeating me, there is no way those two idiots would just keep standing there,” Agnes said as she nudged towards Arthur and Brandon, who were watching them from a few meters away.

Right now, apart from Lucas and Kate, who were still locked in battle, their side was the only place where any real action was happening.

As Sefu and Beatrice were still having some type of showdown, restraining each other’s movements—well, that’s what those in the stands thought.

On the War God Mage Academy team’s side, only Endrick and Pale had been eliminated, so they still had the number advantage, with Arthur and Brandon acting leisurely like Alec in the middle of the arena, as if they were just allowing their members to fight.

When Pale saw that Arthur and Brandon’s attention was already on Agnes’ side, he no longer saw any reason to stay close to Agnes and decided to fight his own battle, as he dashed forward towards Makeda, shocking her slightly, as she had expected him to still come at her using his shadow travel spell again.

She had fought her fair share of shadow elemental mages and had enough experience to know they never gave up on using their shadow travel spell.

They always felt they were above other mages with other elements that aren’t shadow, even when they were countered like this.

In a way, she had actually been waiting to see the next shadow spell trick Knight was going to show her, hoping to completely break his spirit after he tried everything he could and still ended up losing.

But Knight didn’t play into her hands, he swiped his left hand upward as he cast a spell she hadn’t been expecting.

Countless earth-shaped lances shot up from the ground and launched toward Makeda, who was right in the middle of the formation, this move from Knight caught her off guard completely because, first, she hadn’t expected to face that many earth spears so she didn’t raise any defence for it, and second, she hadn’t even known he was an earth elemental mage, like literally since they had been fighting he had only been attacking her with nothing more than shadow element so the reason for the negligence for not raising a defence to counter the earth spell.

But this time, he looked nothing like before. Knight was now fully clad in the Voidclaw set, dragging along a dreadful presence.

He was also no longer wielding dual daggers, but a short sword and a dagger, both weapons clearly looked more like an upgrade from what he was using before, though the dagger still resembled its previous form, but for some reason, it seemed different, as the edge looked more sinister, and a thin trail of dark fog followed it as Knight moved to attack Makeda.

His cloak, which looked more like a grey mist than an actual part of the set, and it seems to have hidden his presence so well that he had gotten that close without her even noticing.

She was too busy trying to stop the rest of earth lances, not realizing that Knight had emerged from one of the shadows cast by the lances swirling around her.

Without any flashy movements, he slashed at her leg, making her yelp in pain as she lost her balance, the moment she finally registered Knight’s presence and turned to look at him, she could clearly see him physically—yet her mental powers still hadn’t picked him up, as he still seems to be in a stealth state.

She put two into two and realized why she had been caught off guard that easily because even as of now her mental powers couldn’t detect him despite him being that close to her, but she was still wondering why he had suddenly become so ridiculously strong.

She had traded blows with him before and could confidently say he wasn’t at the level to make her fall so easily.

With her mind working quickly, she was swift to notice the ninja-like mask and everything else, and she realized that his spirit equipment set probably gave him such a huge attribute boost that put him at a level where he now overshadowed her.

She clearly knew she was no longer his match, so she decided to do the one thing she believed she could still do at that moment, she summoned her bonded beast.

The large firebird appeared before her and Knight, giving off intense heat, but to Knight, who was clad in his Voidclaw set, it was still within an acceptable range.

Immediately, the bird screeched, sending out sound waves that pushed him back as he brought his hand up to help him block and his legs dragged across the ground as he slid away, immediately the sound waves from the Fire Bird stopped, he swiftly sheathed his weapons back, with a little blood dripping down from his ears.

In the next second, the firebird, having bought its master a bit of time, flapped its wings and accelerated sharply, trying to close the distance and tear into Knight.

But just as it finally took the initiative to attack, Knight, who was already prepared, in one smooth motion, thrust two fingers forward and cast a spell.

Instantly phantom-like black chains appeared in midair around him at various points, as if they were anchored there, with Knight as the center of their summoning.

Surprisingly, both the firebird and Makeda were within the middle range of the attack also.

“Enslave,” Knight said as he clenched his outstretched hand into a fist, and the firebird at the center soon found itself being bound by the shadow chains that shot through the air like they had a tracker on it.

One by one, the chains latched onto its body, gripping it tightly, but the beast’s willpower was immense; showing resilience as it pushed forward without stopping, its entire focus still locked on attacking Knight.
