The entire War God Mage Academy team, what was left of Ashmaw, and the higher executives in the stands, especially the northern higher-ups—all looked surprised after seeing Alec finally moving.Since the competition began, no one could truly say they understood the depth of Alec’s power, up till now, most of the attention had been on how much the rest of his team had improved compared to the last inter-academy competition, where they had needed him to practically carry every match.
The King of the Northern Kingdom grit his teeth as he remembered the defiant look in Alec’s eyes the last time they exchanged words.
In the section where the leaders of the other academies were seated, they all looked even more interested now as they turned their gazes toward Alec.
Lucas, who heard Alec’s words, didn’t bother wasting time, as he shoved Afolayan backward with his glaive, putting all his strength into the push, then retreated in a smooth motion.
While Alec skidded forward and took his place, his bone katana drawn in his right hand while his left rested on the Bloody Changdao hilt which was still hanging at his waist.
“What is the meaning of this?” Afolayan asked.
“I’m ending the match as fast as I can,” Alec replied almost instantly, sounding as if fighting Afolayan was nothing special.
“GOOD! I’d like to see how the hell you plan to do that.”
Afolayan lunged in immediately, no longer interested in exchanging words with Alec, thrusting his spear straight at Alec, as Alec stepped forward, raising his bone blade slightly and nudging the spearhead just enough that it only grazed his cheek as it passed.
Even though he failed to land a proper hit, Afolayan continued to press in, clearly intending to follow up with another attack, but the moment they closed the distance and he sneaked his left hand out, trying to claw at Alec, but he was countered, as Alec turned into a blur and slipped past him before the light of Afolayan’s claw could touch him.
Not too far from him, the blur settled as Alec appeared again, with his Changdao slightly raised by his left hand, though the blade hadn’t even fully left its scabbard, but it was clear Alec had already used it, as he slowly pushed it back in until it was fully sheathed, and a sharp clank rang out.
The moment that sound echoed, Afolayan, who was still standing with his back to Alec, felt the lower part of his abdomen burst open in blood as a thin blade line appeared there.
“Woah!” he muttered, pressing his palm over the wound as electric currents flowed from his hand into the flesh, temporarily stopping the bleeding.
“All this while, I thought you were the weakest of them,” Afolayan said.
“But it turns out you’re the strongest of them all, you’re so fast that I didn’t even catch your move until after it landed. Good. I guess I can go wild on you.”
Many in the crowd were also confused about what had just happened, that was when most of them noticed that the water screen floating in the air had started replaying Alec’s move in slow motion. It had looked like Alec simply dashed past Afolayan after dodging the claw attack—but that wasn’t it.
As he passed, Alec had drawn his blade precisely along the exposed seam in Afolayan’s spirit equipment armor, moving like a master chef deboning a cut of meat he’d handled countless times.
The strangest part was that his Changdao never fully left its scabbard, it was the QI that leaked out when he slightly lifted the blade that managed to injure Afolayan in that tiny frame of time.
As they watched the slow-motion replay over and over, the move looked so simple that many felt it was something they should be able to do, but there was no way they were even close to Alec’s realm of speed, and that was because he was simply too fast.
Alec’s agility stat was literally in the three-hundreds; even seasoned Tier 7 mages would have a hard time keeping up with him, just from his physical attribute table alone, he was already comparable to a low or mid Tier 7 mage on physicality.
[> Mid Tier Spell – Beastification <]
The moment Afolayan’s voice rang out, it began to distort, shifting into a deep, bestial growl by the time the spell was complete.
His body size doubled instantly, with fur spreading across his skin as claws extended from his fingers, this wasn’t the partial transformation he’d been using before, this was a full beastification. As his hair thickened and widened, linking and wrapping around his neck as a beautiful grey mane formed.
Though his face was still somewhat recognizable, but his expression had now turned feral, he was now more beast than man, and it was clear he still wasn’t done yet as he cast another spell.
[> Mid Tier Spell – Affinity Link <]
The moment the spell activated, his form changed again as lightning began to course violently around his body as an image of his lightning elk appeared behind him for a moment.
While all this was happening, Alec simply waited, his right hand spread wide as it gripped his bone katana.
With the transformation complete and lightning now fully fused with him, Afolayan looked more dangerous than ever.
Alec’s eyes flashed with an icy blue light for a brief moment, though most people missed it but in that instant he had been able to check Afolayan’s life flame and realized it had grown even larger, which just let him see that this battle was no longer on the level of a regular Tier 6 mage clash.
“Step back, all of you,” Alec said, turning his head slightly to the location of his team members , the rest of his team moved further away, giving them more than enough space to clash.
[> Mid Tier Spell – Tempest Surge <]
Immediately Alec finished warning his team Afolayan raised his hands high up, crackling with lightning, high into the air before slamming them into the ground.
The entire arena trembled as the stone beneath him cracked outward in a spiderweb pattern, dust billowing up. Lightning currents far stronger than anything even Lucas had faced streaked through the ground like a serpent heading straight for Alec at incredible speed.
After crossing the middle of the arena, the thunderous energy surged upward, taking on the form of a massive snake of lightning. On the other side, Alec had already raised his katana above his head, with his legs spread wide, and both hands firmly gripping his weapon.
[> Mid Tier Skill – Cleave <]
Alec finally let his weapon fall, and a blade of Qi flew toward the thunder serpent, cutting it in two as the lightning spread past him on both sides. Before he could even lower his blade again, Afolayan appeared from the side and slapped at him, forcing Alec to raise his weapon in a quick, upward guard with his arm bent down as he defended.
But because he had brought up his defense so hastily, it didn’t hold well, and he was sent flying, but he twisted in midair and redirected the gravity around him, bringing himself back down to the ground in an instant.
