Bang!!!!This time, the shot rang out far louder, as a highly compressed blood round tore through the air as Alec fired with sharp precision and the moment it struck Dragov in the chest, the difference was clear.
This wasn’t like the previous shots, the impact launched Dragov into the air, sending him flying backward.
A moment later, Dragov manipulated the surrounding wind, using pressure to stabilize himself mid-air before descending back to the ground, when he landed, he glanced down at his chest.
Blood was gushing out, and for the first time since the battle began he had been properly injured.
Even the combination of his wind veil and dragon scales hadn’t been enough to fully stop that attack.
Fortunately for him, those two layers of defense had still reduced the damage significantly, so the shot hadn’t pierced all the way through his body; he lifted his head and looked at Alec, a faint smile forming on his face, almost as if to say: I’m still standing.
“You know, Dragov, fighting me was never the most important thing in this battle.” Alec said calmly,
“You have just been acting like you want to defeat me properly... that you’ve already lost sight of what this battle format is really about.” Alec paused briefly before finishing—
“The format is about who controls the most rune points.”
Dragov frowned, clearly confused as to why Alec was saying this now, until Alec suddenly glanced toward a nearby rooftop.
“Brandon... the fish is on the hook.” The moment those words left his mouth, the ground beneath Dragov suddenly collapsed, and sand began to swirl violently, forming a vortex that tried to drag him downward.
On the rooftop, where Brandon stood he had stretched out his left hand towards Dragov, just like how he had his right hand facing Damien’s position, controlling the trap from afar.
At that moment, he was effectively restraining two of the Bloodline Academy’s strongest mages at once, but Damien had already finished preparing his spell.
As he raised his hand toward Brandon’s position, before he activated it—

Despite the fact that he was almost drowning in the quicksand, Damien managed to raise his hand high enough to point at Brandon, as a blood brand manifested in the air,
and in a swift motion, it streaked through the air toward where Brandon stood, but then Endrick appeared in front of him, and the blood brand latched onto Endrick instead.
Brandon frowned at the sight, he knew this was Endrick’s last life, yet even without knowing what the spell did, Endrick had made that final move to shield him.

Once the brand took hold, another spell rang out from Pale, who was buried deep in the sand. Instantly, Endrick began to pale. After five seconds, he looked as though he’d aged decades.
A second later, he resembled a desiccated skeleton. Seeing this, Alec, who had been overseeing Dragov, shifted his aim and fired another shot at him, while Dragov raised his left wing to block in response, but the force of the shell bullet only drove him deeper into the suppressing sand.
When Dragov lowered his wing, he realized Alec was no longer in front of him—Alec had already taken to the air.
“Brandon, focus all your attention on Drago—” Alec was still mid-sentence, instructing Brandon to channel every ounce of his mana into crushing Dragov beneath the sand, when the quicksand holding Damien suddenly erupted.
Pale, who had been desperately using the trapped zones to stall Connor and Kira, finally fell, with three Bloodline Academy mages now freed, Alec couldn’t help cursing under his breath, the moment Damien stepped onto the central rune point,
The countdown should have begun, but before it could start, a lightning bolt streaked past and swatted him away like a fly.
“I’ll take care of him!” The lightning coalesced into human form. It was Lucas, who was now facing Damien head-on in his blue spirit equipment set.
Damien stood surrounded by a fresh blood pool that coiled around his body like fluttering red silk. This time, he looked far more dangerous than before.
“I see you’ve come for round two!” Damien shouted as he dashed forward, his movements reduced to a blur, while Lucas answered by swinging out his glaive.
Meanwhile, Alec turned his attention to the pressing threat in front of him as Connor and Kira lunged toward him. Connor came from above, claws raised, while Kira attacked from below, trying her best to slash at him with her curved dagger.
Alec shifted back slightly, tilting his neck just enough to evade Connor’s claws.
Then he drove a low kick straight into Kira’s face with his right leg, his legs were coated in red flames, and the moment the strike landed, it was almost like a small explosion went off, causing Kira’s head to snap back, and her eyes rolling as if she was losing consciousness.
Connor tried to thrust out his right hand, but Alec simply tilted his neck away to the left and hooked Connor’s shoulder with his right hand, by interlocking their hands together.
With their bodies locked together, Alec placed the barrel of his gun against Connor’s side.
Bam!
One shot was all it took, as a huge chunk of Connor’s side was blasted away.
“Arrrgh!” Connor groaned in agony, but Alec wasn’t done with him yet. Still gripping his shoulder, he made it harder for Connor to break free.
He let the gun drop slightly, then worked the pump with a quick up-and-down motion, chambering in another round.
He tossed the weapon lightly into the air and caught it again with his left hand as it came back down, then pressed the gun body against their interlocked arms, aiming the barrel directly at Connor’s face.
