Inside Alec’s castle, a massive dining table had been prepared, and all of his sub-lords were gathered around it. Alec sat among them, desperately wishing for any opportunity to escape the situation he currently found himself in and flee from the table, but he couldn’t think of a single tangible excuse to remove himself from the equation.

Ever since they took on their roles as sub-lords, their group rarely saw one another like this, so Agnes had instituted a rule that they must do their best to meet up once a week.

Today was the very first day of them trying it, but what none of them expected was for her to volunteer to do the cooking.

The moment she announced it, the faces of everyone in the know—Alec, Arthur, Brandon, and Knight—instantly turned green, as they all recalled just how terrible her culinary skills truly were, as the three Gordons boys silently wished they had never come to Alec’s Castle in the first place.

Endrick, however, was still completely unaware of this side of Agnes and looked like he was eager for the meal, while the other two girls decided to step into the kitchen to support her.

Hearing that the food would be amazing, Endrick was busy hyping her up. Buoyed by his encouraging words, Agnes huffed, flicked her hair like a runway fashion model, and even began bragging about being a spirit chef.

Hearing this only seemed to intensify Endrick’s eager anticipation for the meal.

The brothers, however, merely exchanged knowing glances.

"Hmmm, the spirit chef of doom," they murmured softly, even though Endrick caught their mutterings, when he turned to face them, they quickly offered harmless smiles.

As none of them dared to expose their sister’s atrocious cooking; they would much rather he learned the hard way why they never asked her to cook for them, despite her status as a spirit chef.

Without failing the boys’ expectations, about thirty minutes later, several dishes were brought out and placed before everyone as the ladies joined them at the table.

Alec looked toward his two partners in crime and that rascal, Knight, finding it difficult to believe his own eyes.

The meal in front of him had a wonderfully fragrant aroma and looked absolutely ravishing—a far cry from her usual toxic-looking creations, like the green soup she typically made.

But no matter how appetizing it appeared, all four of them had developed deep-seated trust issues after suffering through her past meals, so they chose to wait for the ladies to eat first, but to their surprise, Endrick was the first one to raise his spoon to his mouth.

Blinded by his eagerness to try the food, he failed to notice how hesitantly the Gordon boys were acting before he popped the spoon into his mouth.

The instant the food hit his tongue, his face contorted, he jerked his head up to spit it out, but Alec’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind, strictly warning him not to dare do it.

The Gordon boys exchanged satisfied glances, their expressions practically saying, “Told you so”.

They communicated silently with their eyes; though the presentation of the dish had changed, the chef still remained the same lethal spirit chef of doom.

Piecing everything together at last, Endrick realized the Gordon boys had used him as a benchmark to test just how dangerous her cooking was this time.

He quickly forced it down with his face turning a noticeable shade of green, while the boys did their absolute best to suppress their laughter.

“Why does it look like you guys aren’t interested in eating this delicious food?” Having managed to swallow the toxic soup, Endrick immediately called out the boys who were laughing at him, successfully dragging them into the mess with him.

They had been looking down, pretending to stir their soup while trying their absolute best to suppress their laughter. However, the moment Endrick spoke, the mocking amusement vanished from their faces, and they slowly raised their heads.

But they met with the sharp gaze of Agnes, who had paused before sipping her own soup to drop her spoon and stare directly at them, and they instantly realized they were completely trapped.

Left with no choice, they lifted their spoons and took a bite.

Unlike Endrick, they were somewhat accustomed to her cooking, but the instant the flavor hit their tongues, a chorus of muffled "humm... mhnmm" sounds filled the room.

They desperately used these vague noises of appreciation to mask their agony, though the soup tasted far more bitter and hazardous than they ever recalled.

Glancing at one another from the corners of their eyes, they sought validation that they were all enduring the same torture.

Sure enough, the shared anguish written across each of their faces laid bare the utter pretense of their performance.

“My comrades, we bear this pain for the greater good,” Alec transmitted his voice stealthy to the other Gordon boys.

“Hmmm!” Agnes nodded in approval, satisfied now that they had taken their first bites. But the very second she looked back down at her own plate, the boys collectively whipped around to face Endrick, bombarding him with furious curses via voice transmission.

Accusations like "traitor" and "snitch" continued to fly his way, but he simply thickened his skin, no longer caring as long as they had to share that awful taste with him.

They all looked toward the ladies in utter confusion; the women were eating their food with total ease, almost as if it tasted good.

Alec glanced at his companions, wondering if the girls had defective taste buds or if it was just the men experiencing the exact opposite flavor—though that knowledge would be something they would have to learn another day.

[Master, there are new top-priority messages in the regional chat. Furthermore, it seems we are on the verge of being invaded by a small army of Beastkins.]

The loud voice of his Ai rang out not caring about his visitors, the moment this happened, Alec noticed that every single person closed their eyes, attempting to connect to the regional chat.

A few seconds later, after establishing a connection using Alec’s city heart since they were currently outside their own city, a system interface appeared before them. Instantly, the more they read through the messages from all the surrounding human lords, the more they realized that the entire domain controlled by human lords had been thrown into a state of war.

All this time, the human emperors had been completely focused on stopping just two of the great monster factions.

Now, however, the human territories faced a coordinated onslaught from a collective of lord and king-rank experts representing other major monster factions apart from those two that the human emperors were stopping.

The most prominent of these was the Aquatic Empire, which had launched a rapid offensive and seized vast amounts of human land across multiple regions.

Their widespread attacks felt like a blatant display of dominance, as if they were declaring their absolute capability to overwhelm human lords on a massive scale.

Elsewhere, messages circulated in the chat about humans being hunted down by soldiers of the Undead Empire, marking a truly terrifying period for everyone.

Meanwhile, Alec had just received intelligence from his own AI that the Beastkin were the ones marching directly toward his own domain.

While he couldn’t tell what had driven them to plunge the entire human region toward this impending war, one thing remained absolutely certain for him:

It was going to be a long, bloody day, as the blood moon could already be seen appearing in the sky above.

“It seems like we are literally invited to a free for all battle against the other great monster factions.”

[The Blood Moon War is about to begin. The Blood Moon space will merge with the Origin Realm due to the shattering of the blood space gem.]
