Chapter 568.1: Light Devourer (1)

This chapter is updated by NovelFree.ml

The mountain-like pressure coming from the distant horizon crushed down on the millions and millions of soldiers standing on the battlefield, causing their bodies to stiffen up. Their survival instincts forced them to turn their attention away from the battlefield to the incoming threat.

They gazed across the giants’ carcasses, the intense clashes, and the blood rain to trace the origin of this menacing pressure. Finally, they found their answer on the distant horizon.

They saw faint light silhouettes manifested out of terrors the world had never seen before. These were existences whose very presence stimulated one’s survival instincts.

A black-haired man could be vaguely spotted amidst the six light silhouettes. The world itself seemed to crumble before his march.

A yellow wind swept away the time of all beings around him. Ominous dark clouds sowed death on those within their reach. An endless stream of lava poured out from the surface, rumbling like a giant’s footsteps. A bundle of light tightly wrapped itself around his body.

The arrival of the God’s Envoys induced joyous cheers from the Mother Goddess’ faction.

In contrast, the Savior’s faction fell into an unnerving silence. Even the most ignorant of them instinctively understood that those calamities were not spells, but an even more terrifying and ancient existence. They possessed overwhelming powers that even gods were unable to rival.

Even the hearts of Race Sovereigns quivered in fear before the God’s Envoys. They felt like they were faced with the very wrath of the world.

What was even more astonishing was the person whom these calamities were protecting.

The Kingmaker.

Shock and disbelief rippled like a disease through the battlefield when they recognized the black-haired man who had come with the Calamities. Even the Savior was unable to retain His composure any longer. He stared at the distant silhouettes with an awful look.

“How is this possible…”

The God’s Envoys were Sia’s powers, representing the Genesis Goddess’ inviolable authority. Those who chose to wield this power had to bear a huge risk and an immense price.

Even if Roel had staked his entire soul into channeling the blood scepter, the most he could have done was to awaken those monsters. Controlling them should have been completely out of the question.

Yet, the impossible had happened.

“How did you…” the Savior blurted out, but he didn’t expect an answer.

After the initial shock, those from the Savior’s faction began launching their attacks against the enemy who had appeared out of nowhere. Rather than an organized resistance, it was more apt to describe it as an instinctive response fueled by desperation.

Despite knowing how dangerous the enemy was, they couldn’t give up right now, not when victory was right in front of them!

The Mother Goddess had disappeared under the Savior’s spells, and Her soldiers had been forcefully scattered and encircled. The only ones barely putting up a fight were the High Elves. The Mother Goddess’ faction was already down to its last leg.

All they had to do was to defeat the reinforcement and the world would usher in a new order!

Under such temptation, the wingmen and dragons channeled their mana in preparation to obliterate the enemy from the face of the world. The ground troops menacingly brandished their weapons to threaten the enemy. No one was willing to give up.

Roel opened his eyes, revealing a pair of glowing golden pupils that resembled candlelight. Blood trickled down his body and dissipated with the wind. Silver specks of light gleamed in his shoulder-length hair. The most shocking thing of all was that neither his Crown Origin Attribute nor his Being Toward Death blessing was pulsating at all.

Sia-fication.

This was a miracle brought about by putting one’s everything on the line, including absorbing one’s Origin Attribute into one’s soul. That was the reason the Savior’s face had turned awful. He knew that there was nothing in the world that could stop Roel in his current state.

Roel’s mana pulsated to his heartbeat’s rhythm, and the God’s Envoys resonated in response. Faced with an entire world of enemies, the Six Calamities manifested as huge, faint silhouettes that awaited Roel’s orders.

“Crush them,” Roel ordered placidly.

With a fearless roar, the God’s Envoys rushed at the immense Savior’s army that swarmed the ground and sky alike. It looked as if two towering tsunami waves were clashing with each other, but the outcome was already decided.

Tempest Caller was confronted by the dragon army, which had yet to suffer a defeat in this war. The dragons were known to possess the greatest defensive ability among the races. It would take an army of soldiers hours of ceaseless attacks to bring down one, let alone an army of them.

Not intimidated in the least, the pale yellow wind howled in contempt as it swept its blurry palm across the sky as if swatting flies. The dragons, confident in their defensive prowess, didn’t bother to try evading the attack. Even the most compressed wind blade couldn’t hope to pierce their armor-like scales, after all.

The dragons were right, but they still died anyway.

Countless dragons rained to the ground upon being struck by the humongous palm that encompassed a huge expanse of the sky. The pale yellow wind failed to breach their defenses, but there was no need for that when its enemies had already been turned into white bones.

Beneath Tempest Caller, a colossal beast silhouette swiftly expanded under Roel’s command, raising a treacherous frost tsunami that eternally froze the time of everything within reach.

An ashen silhouette channeled the tremendous dormant energy in the earth's veins to unleash powerful lava spouts that sniped down the wingmen, dragging their swiftly incinerating bodies down to the ground.

Giants rushed forth to block those lava spouts, only to find themselves devoured by a thick, billowing miasma that swiftly extinguished the flame of life within them.

A blurry face in a silver fog opened its greedy mouth and ravenously devoured every last spell the Savior’s army tried to hurl at Roel. At the same time, an aurora descended upon the battlefield and constantly supplied him with energy.

“W-what are these things?!”

“These monsters have no real bodies at all!”

Despair consumed the enemies under the unstoppable onslaught of the Six Calamities.

The very nature of the Six Calamities made it nigh impossible to counter them. The Savior’s army was quickly forced back under their overwhelming might. Even the bravest soldiers found themselves trembling helplessly in their presence. It couldn’t be clearer to them that this was not a force that mortals could overcome.

Fear and insanity terrorized the battlefield.

The sight of countless enemies being reduced to carcasses induced cheers from the struggling Mother Goddess’ soldiers. Yet, the black-haired man standing at the center of the Six Calamities retained his impassive expression.

He knew that this was just a means to stall for time. There was only one enemy he absolutely had to bring down in order to win this battle. As a matter of fact, the light-clad young man in the sky had been making preparations while the Six Calamities were busy obliterating His soldiers.

From the moment Roel appeared on the battlefield, the Savior was forced to concede that He had made a fatal error by underestimating the Kingmaker. He was now more certain than ever that the Kingmaker was a threat that He had to eliminate right away.

Intense light began to irradiate the sky. The Savior had descended.

The Six Calamities halted their massacre of the defeated Savior’s army and quickly returned to Roel’s side.

Hardly anyone was able to move anymore due to the immense pressure coming from the sky, so they could only raise their heads and pray that the imminent battle between the Savior and the God’s Envoys would transpire in their favor.
