Middle Sector 99- Sacred Covenant AcademyHere, in the middle of one of the broad jade-paved avenues --an elegant road that connected the towering lecture halls to the vast grounds used for practical training- there unfolded a scene that was anything but ordinary, one that instantly drew attention.
"Lady Headmistress Morgana, you must approve today's request. I will not leave this place until that happens!"
"Lady Headmistress, the situation has reached a point where it can no longer endure delay. If you refuse to cooperate with us today, we will stop asking altogether and find another method, we only need a direct answer!"
There were no fewer than thirty individuals present, hailing from different races, with varied heights, builds, and skin tones. Under normal circumstances, such diversity would not have been strange at all-this academy had recently risen to remarkable fame, attracting an enormous number of students, patrons, and influential figures from across the sector.
What made the situation abnormal was the fact that all of these people were tightly gathered around the academy's headmistress, raising their voices toward her. Admittedly, it did not sound like open threats or uncontrolled rage, yet the sight of so many powerful figures shouting at a single woman was deeply unsettling and undeniably strange.
All around them, students leaned out of lecture hall windows or paused in the middle of their training sessions, peering from balconies and practice fields alike, eager to witness the unfolding confrontation.
"Please, everyone, calm yourselves," Morgana said as she raised both hands, her movements composed but firm, signaling the crowd to quiet down. Slowly, she swept her dark-rimmed eyes across those gathered before her, her brows slightly furrowed, her expression layered with restraint and complexity. "Each and every one of you is an esteemed figure-planetary emperors, clan leaders, or heads of colossal commercial networks. You all possess authority, influence, and dignity. With that in mind, why not accompany me to my office? We can discuss everything properly there!"
"No!" a woman among the crowd shook her head violently, her refusal immediate and unyielding. "We have already come to you countless times. Every single time, you placate us with soothing words and then ask us to leave as if nothing has changed."
"Since you know our status so well," another voice followed, sharp and accusatory, "how long do you intend to treat our words as nothing more than empty air?!"
"Until you begin speaking words that are actually reasonable!" Morgana's faint, diplomatic smile vanished entirely as her tone hardened. "Do any of you hear even the slightest trace of logic in what you are demanding? Tell me-why should the Sacred Covenant Academy be the one to go and fight the Plague?!" "Isn't that your responsibility as a major academy?!" one of the figures surrounding her cut in quickly, unwilling to let the momentum slip. "Then why, exactly, are we paying such astronomical fees for our children's education?"
Morgana turned toward him without hesitation. "There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding here. You are confusing us with the Stellar Academies. Since when have ordinary academies like ours been obligated to shoulder such duties?" Then she shifted her gaze and pointed toward another individual in the crowd. "And you-aren't you the head of an academy yourself? Why are you standing with them, demanding that we intervene, fight the Plague, and impose sanctions upon the so-called forces of evil?"
"Lady Headmistress Morgana," that academy head replied, forcing a weak and uneasy smile, "is there truly any ordinary academy that demands admission fees comparable to those of the Sacred Covenant Academy?" He paused briefly before continuing. "In terms of enrollment costs, you rank second only to Dawn light Academy-surpassing even the other two Stellar Academies within this
sector."
"We demand these fees because of what we are capable of offering," Morgana answered calmly but decisively, her voice carrying unmistakable confidence. "Because of the heights our students can reach-and the speed at which they reach them." Her eyes then moved slowly, deliberately, across every face present. "Not even a full century has passed since this academy was founded, yet the names of our students have already begun to eclipse the so-called geniuses of every other academy. The students trained here can easily stand shoulder to shoulder with those of Dawn light Academy, no, they can trample upon them."
She let the words sink in before continuing. "Every one of you has children or grandchildren studying under our banner. Which one of you dares to call me a liar? Deny my words right now, and I will personally refund every single fee you have paid-take your children with you, and walk out of this academy without another word!"
The crowd fell into sudden, suffocating silence. No one dared to speak. Some even held their breath, fearing that breathing too loudly might be taken as an act of denial-and that their own grandchild would be expelled on the spot. Only a few decades ago, this academy had only just opened its gates. At the beginning, a modest and reasonable number of students enrolled-those who had heard countless rumors and whispered tales about the extraordinary capabilities of Instructor Morgana. Not long after, many more followed, drawn in by what they personally witnessed: a miraculous infrastructure so advanced and refined that, even to this very day, no one truly knows where Instructor Morgana obtained the immense funds required to build it.
In the span of merely a few decades, the standing of the Sacred Covenant Academy became as immovable as solid bedrock. The results demonstrated by its students were beyond reproach; to speak ill of them would require the speaker to be blind not only in eyesight, but also in judgment and perception.
This was because the first generation of enrolled students began to display astonishing and abnormal changes. Soul Masters grew stronger by a staggering margin, far beyond established expectations. Law users broke through again and again, accomplishing feats that would normally take centuries. Even the once-troublesome, unruly children transformed into humanoid monsters of talent and discipline.
Naturally, all parents began to question what exactly was happening behind the academy's walls. Sensing both curiosity and concern, Morgana seized the opportunity during the academy's twenty-fifth anniversary and announced a Parents' Reception Day. It was a special occasion during which all parents were invited to enter the academy, tour its grounds, observe their children's daily routines, and see firsthand what they were doing throughout their lives within
the institution.
And from that moment onward, the shocks truly began...
The parents were met with an overwhelming sight: an enormous number of instructors. These were teachers who had once been scattered across countless academies throughout the sector, now gathered here through promises of generous research funding or significantly higher salaries. With such a large teaching force, class sizes were drastically reduced, allowing each instructor to focus on students individually-guiding them precisely, addressing their weaknesses, and providing exactly what each student needed. Here, instructors were bound to a strict number of working hours; failure to meet them meant imediate dismissal. They were not treated as honored guests or exalted scholars whose mere presence was considered a blessing, as was common in other academies. Moreover, instructors were strictly forbidden from demanding additional fees from students. Unlike elsewhere, every single fee paid went directly to the academy itself.
What the instructors gained here -and what made them willingly remain, was a combination of exceptionally high salaries, dedicated facilities where they could conduct any experiments they desired during their free time, and complete institutional support for their research. As long as the academy deemed a project worthwhile, it would fund it without hesitation, even if the required sum climbed into the hundreds of millions.
Beyond these privileges, however, one thing was absolute: they were required to work.
In addition, there existed an entire department known as Internal Supervision. This body closely monitored the progress of students under each instructor and adjusted salaries according to the rate of improvement. If an instructor wanted greater pay or more research funding, they had no choice but to follow each student carefully and personally, ensuring tangible and measurable growth.
This system alone proved that the Sacred Covenant Academy took every single coin paid into it seriously. Renowned instructors working tirelessly, exerting real effort rather than resting on reputation-where else had anyone ever witnessed such a thing?!
And to the parents' growing astonishment, this was far from the only revelation.
They were later guided to a location known as the Sky Opening Hall. There, students could enter and request the purchase of elixirs to increase affinity, break through bloodline limitations, or commission specialized techniques that enhanced the use of their inherited laws. It was, in many ways, a fantastical hall -one that students visited with wishes in their hearts... and left with those wishes fulfilled.
It soon became evident that this hall had played a massive role in aiding their children throughout the years.
The truth also emerged regarding the countless additional fees demanded by their kids over time. They had not been bribes for instructors, as many parents had once suspected. Nor were they used for reckless adventures or illicit escapes from the academy. Instead, those funds had gone toward acquiring the services and resources provided by the Sky Opening Hall.
More shockingly still, it turned out that their children had been saving their own allowances, relying solely on the academy's free meals, just so they could afford to purchase elixirs within that hall at astronomical prices- prices so absurdly high that they surpassed even the original cost of enrolling in the academy itself.
