"What did you say?!"The twelve Thrones rose slowly to their feet, shock and disbelief written across their faces.
"The Cosmic Elder withdrew trust from us? What did we even do? He isn't responding to us at all!!"
"Is there some kind of mistake?! There must be an error somewhere!"
"I will enter the Soul Society immediately to see what's happening!" "....?" Even Qarun deeply furrowed his brows, his expression darkening. This was worse than even his most reckless and extreme expectations.
"I swear to you this truly happened," the mature woman spoke rapidly, her voice tense, then pulled out a glowing luminous disc. "You don't need to enter the Soul Society. It's everywhere already. Look!"
Shliiish
In the next moment, the image of a man who appeared to be in his late fifties manifested before them. Both of his eyes were blindfolded with a clean, dark cloth. He wore a simple, newly made robe with no luxury or decoration, and his right arm was severed from the shoulder.
"<Greetings, inhabitants of the universe. I am the Cosmic Elder.>"
"It's him..." one of the Thrones whispered, deeply frowning, his voice heavy with
tension.
This was the exact appearance in which they had last seen the Cosmic Elder, when he appeared to kill the adult space beast, an image burned into their memories.
Mid Sector 702, in front of a massive screen in the center of the capital square "The Cosmic Elder, mom!" a small child pointed excitedly at the screen. "He's the person everyone has been talking about lately, the one who has protected the universe since loooooong ago!"
"Yes, my son. His image is everywhere these days. This is our hero." The woman's eyes shone brightly as she looked at the Cosmic Elder. "Do you know why he is blind? He sacrificed his eyes to restore balance to the entire universe!"
"I heard he attacked an evil place full of the great plague like a lion descending into a flock of sheep and struck them all, boom tak! He hunted them everywhere and killed so many of them!"
"That doesn't even compare to the time he fought dozens of space beasts in the second wave and destroyed them all by himself!"
"And what about the first wave? He was the one who drove them all out. He turned entire galaxies into banners for his array. Oh heavens, can you imagine the grandeur of that scene?"
"They say he even destroyed something called the Space Beasts' Ancestor and completely erased it. He sacrificed half his life and lived as a weak old man for our sake, just so we could survive."
"I can't believe I used to speak badly about him just because he decided to get married. I was the blind one, not him!"
"Silence, you rabble!!" the planetary king seated at the top of the platform stood and shouted at his followers. "Let us listen to what the hero has to say!"
"<... Are you all well? No, I know you are not. The plague and the space beasts have exhausted you deeply in recent times.>"
Sector 901, inside a stellar academy
"The Cosmic Elder issued a statement?" The academy lord furrowed his brows and sharpened his senses as he happened to see the Cosmic Elder's image through his office window. "We have been trying to contact him for centuries without success!" Then he turned his gaze toward the courtyard. "These
numbers...
Nearly all the academy students had gathered to watch, forming massive crowds, their faces filled with awe, respect, and deep admiration.
About two hundred years ago, almost no one knew who the Cosmic Elder truly was. Now, there was no one in the universe who did not recognize his name or his image.
Recently, there had been organized campaigns spreading the Cosmic Elder's heroic deeds, his old and new images, and his immense sacrifices. They restored the image of the hero in the minds of the universe's inhabitants after they had been cursing him day and night because of the Council of Thrones'
statement.
They had not even known who he truly was. They only understood from the Council's announcement that a dominant entity had stopped protecting them and no longer answered their calls, so they began insulting him blindly. But after the Cosmic Elder appeared and killed the space beast in Mid Sector 911, and these legendary stories spread everywhere, people began to revere him, as they should.
Even these students coming from prestigious empires and powerful lineages now looked at him not as a distant myth, but as a true living hero.
"<...It is not my habit to come out and speak to the public, but reality itself has forced me to do so.>"
Mid Sector 110
A middle-aged man with silky white hair, Helmor the Destroyer, watched the broadcast in silence, a faint, unreadable smile resting on his lips. His posture was relaxed, almost casual, as if the cosmic-scale event unfolding before him was nothing more than an interesting performance.
"Reality?" he murmured softly, his eyes narrowing with intrigue.
"Interesting."
"<...I founded the stellar academies and appointed the Supreme Council over them for one purpose only: to make them the police force that secures the
lives of the people.>"
Helmor's smile deepened slightly, a glint of sharp intellect flashing in his eyes, as if he could already see the chain reactions that would follow these words across the universe.
Mid Sector 99 - Dawnlight Stellar Academy
"Lady Althera, come quickly!!" one of the instructors shouted, pounding frantically on the doors of the Academy Lady's building.
Whoosh
Althera appeared instantly, her brows tightly furrowed. Her office behind her
was almost completely overturned, documents scattered, furniture displaced, and control arrays glowing faintly, signs of someone overwhelmed by responsibility. She had been trying to stabilize the academy before fully relocating to live on Planet Dinara.
"The Cosmic Elder!" the instructor shouted, pointing toward the main square.
"The Cosmic Elder is speaking!"
" 12"
Althera's eyes widened to their limit, shock freezing her expression for a split
second.
Poof
A violent burst of air erupted as she vanished.
In the next instant, she stood at the front of thousands of students gathered in
the main square, her presence commanding silence. Her eyes were wide, fixed on the massive projection in the sky.
"<... But it seems the stellar academies no longer see their founding purpose as important enough. It seems the Supreme Council of the Stellar Academies no longer has sufficient control over the situation.>"
"What is he doing...?" Althera whispered under her breath, her heart pounding violently in her chest, a deep sense of unease crawling through her veins.
Mid Sector 99- Sacred Covenant Academy
"It's my father!" one of the youths shouted, pointing excitedly at the image
displayed in the giant projection bubbles.
"Hehe, I havent seen him in a long time. He has nice new clothes!!" another girl clapped, her voice full of innocent excitement.
But not everyone in the academy was watching with smiles.
Most of the students stood in rigid silence, brows furrowed, expressions tense
and serious.
The students of this academy were not like ordinary students. Everyone here
was either of millennial imperial bloodlines or children of Behemoths. They were raised on politics, power, war, and cosmic balance. They all understood exactly what the appearance of the Cosmic Elder meant, and what the consequences of every single word he spoke would be.
They were not watching a hero.
They were watching a turning point in history.
"Teacher, teacher... why is my father appearing today?" a small girl from the
newly arrived batch gently tugged at Morgana's robe, her voice soft and
confused.
"...I don't know, my dear," Morgana replied, her brows knitting together as her
heart beat heavily in her chest. "But I have a very bad feeling about this. A very bad feeling."
"<...As long as the stellar academies no longer wish to fulfill their duties, and as long as the Supreme Council can no longer lead the situation, then there is no point in keeping them around.>
