".......?"Renara turned toward the source of the voice and saw a man made entirely of golden light. His features were impossible to make out clearly beneath the radiant glow surrounding him, yet there was no mistaking that voice. Even if she could not recognize the face before her, she would never fail to recognize the person speaking.
"Your Majesty?"
"In the flesh!" Robin laughed as he glanced at his glowing hand, seemingly amused by his current appearance. "Well... in presence and energy, I mean."
"What are you doing here? This place is reserved for breaking through into the Law Dominator realm! I..." Renara took a step back, but soon smiled and shook her head as though dismissing her own reaction. "It seems my excitement over demonstrating the Energy Conversion Law to his Majesty has made me see things that aren’t real. I must still be caught somewhere between reality and the breakthrough."
"I’m more real than you are right now, girl. Hehe." Robin pointed upward toward the sun. "I used the Sun of the True Way as a medium and projected my consciousness into it so I could appear wherever the sun exists." He then slowly looked around at the countless threads stretching across the heavens. "This place is far more colorful than people make it sound..."
"That sun... you were the one who created it?" Renara exclaimed in astonishment, immediately connecting his words to the mysterious phenomenon that had changed everything. "You can manipulate this place as well?!"
"Nothing is truly difficult for the Master Laws within the universes. With enough concentration and planning, anything is possible." The man of light, Robin, clasped his hands behind his back and began strolling slowly, calmly observing his surroundings as though he had entered an unfamiliar yet fascinating landscape. "This place reminds me of something... especially that vast darkness before the ropes appeared... hmm."
"The sun... the Path of Truth?" Renara repeated thoughtfully. "Wait... before the sun appeared, I was in a miserable state, then—" She suddenly grabbed her head tightly for a few moments as fragments of memory rapidly resurfaced before looking back at Robin. "Did you help me break through?!"
"I helped you focus a little and accelerated what was already inevitable. Your breakthrough and every conclusion you reached belong entirely to you." Robin smiled before stopping and turning toward her. "As a matter of fact, I learned something from you today."
"...You helped me break through, and then you say you learned from me." Renara smiled, finding the statement difficult to believe. "You don’t need that fake humility."
"I’m serious." Robin raised his head and began observing the thickest rope among all those present, studying its engravings with unusual concentration. "The Energy Conversion Law, huh? It’s a fitting name. And even if it weren’t, you’re the one who discovered this Law, so you have the right to name it."
"....?" Renara stared at him in disbelief. "I’m the first person to discover it?"
"Mhm." Robin nodded. "I won’t lie to you—even I had no idea that something like this existed in nature." He continued more slowly, carefully choosing his words. "I’m able to perceive the natural patterns of energy themselves. They’re incredibly simple, as simple as water—or perhaps even simpler. Most of those patterns exist merely to help bind energy to other Laws, contribute to the movements of the natural world, and also assist us cultivators in using energy freely throughout our cultivation."
"They were made to be used." Robin shrugged. "So, subconsciously—just like everyone who came before me—I assumed the Energy Law itself was useless, and that the other Laws, at every level, were what actually transformed and utilized energy. Energy itself is stagnant, like water or earth. It doesn’t change on its own; it only changes when acted upon by a catalyst... and that catalyst is the Law."
He then gestured toward the thick rope with his head.
"But that thing over there overturns everything... It’s a Law that manipulates energy effortlessly, whether inside the user or inside the target. If energy itself has a Law, then this is it. The energy patterns I normally perceive have nothing to do with the Natural Energy Law. It’s like someone looking at the components of water and seeing only how simple they are, completely unaware that behind that simplicity lies an entire Path built upon using it, revealing possibilities that cannot be understood merely by examining water itself."
"So..." Renara’s eyes widened even further as the implications finally settled in. "Then the Law I’m breaking through with right now... is the Natural Energy Law?!"
"...." Robin continued staring at the rope, his gaze lingering on its countless engravings as though each pattern concealed another answer waiting to be uncovered. "Let’s keep the name Energy Conversion as it is. Water Laws allow you to use energy to imitate the form and properties of water, letting you create water of a certain quality. But that thing over there won’t allow you to create energy itself—no one can do that. It merely controls it... manipulate it, exactly as you named it."
He fixed his eyes on the rope once more, trying to imprint every engraving and every pattern into his memory, unwilling to overlook even the smallest detail.
"What surprises me is that it’s a Heavenly Law, yet it isn’t a Minor Law, nor does it possess any Minor Laws beneath it. It exists entirely on its own. Whoever masters it will master energy conversion as a whole, and whoever fails will have no second chance through an inferior Minor Law to gradually build up the same understanding... How strange."
"...It obviously can’t be classified as a Master Law. Nor is it a Fundamental Law or any of the other established classifications, because it has no subordinate Minor Laws whatsoever. And it’s certainly not one of the supreme concepts on the level of Blood or the Codes of Creation... so then, what exactly is it?"
"..." Renara smiled, unable to hide the satisfaction on her face.
"I’m happy that I managed to give Lord Human something to wonder about."
"....." Robin nodded several times with a smile before finally turning away from the rope and looking directly at her.
"Then let me ask you a question instead. Do you intend to follow me until the very end?"
"....?" Renara blinked in surprise at the sudden question, clearly not expecting the conversation to shift in that direction.
Technically speaking, she had already submitted to Caesar and had served under his command for centuries. Since Caesar was Robin’s Marshal—and Robin’s son—that already made her one of Robin’s subordinates without question.
Even so, she remained only an unofficial subordinate. She had never sworn an oath directly to Robin, nor had she ever received his personal commands or formally placed herself under his authority.
Renara held Robin’s gaze for several moments, looking into the eyes of the man who had elevated her from an ordinary Nexus State cultivator to someone on the verge of becoming a Law Dominator today. The man who had guided her without claiming her achievements for himself, who had opened a path that her ancestors had searched for across countless generations...
Then she nodded.
"I don’t see any reason not to continue."
"Are you certain?" A broad smile spread across Robin’s face, as though he had expected that answer yet still wanted to hear it spoken with conviction.
Renara frowned slightly.
"What exactly are you asking?"
"The truth is, Renara, judging by the strength of your Law and the degree of limit removal you’ve already obtained during your very first breakthrough, I believe that once your breakthrough is complete, you’ll be capable of standing toe-to-toe with someone like Hedrick back when he was also a Low Law Dominator. To put it more simply, you’ll become virtually unmatched among Low Law Dominators—one of the two strongest individuals in the entire universe at that level."
"..."
A satisfied smile appeared across Renara’s face. Such praise coming from Robin himself carried far more weight than praise from anyone else she had ever met.
But Robin’s next words immediately interrupted it.
"But I’d like to make you the strongest one... beyond all dispute. What do you think?"
"....?!" Renara’s brows tightened sharply, the confidence on her face instantly replaced by confusion.
"Please... speak plainly!" Her heart was pounding uncontrollably, sensing that the offer about to be made would far exceed anything she had imagined.
"I’ll remove your limits completely. Hmm... let me explain it in terms you’ll understand. One Law will grant you one hundred percent support... and every Law in the universe will do the same. What do you think?" Robin smiled broadly, speaking as though he were discussing something entirely ordinary. "It’s a simple matter. It can be arranged. But afterward, I’ll need you to become my complete subordinate. You’ll obey my orders without reservation, serving as the spearhead that moves wherever I command, without question... Can you do that, Renara?"
He immediately continued before she had the chance to answer, hoping to persuade her further.
"I realize this came rather abruptly, and I understand you may need some time to thi—"
Bam.
Before Robin could even finish his sentence, Renara had already dropped onto one knee without the slightest hesitation.
"Do it, if you can... and bring me the oath."
