On the other side of the mountain—
Whoooosh
The Special Forces’ Triple Healing Array was currently erected in the shape of a pyramid, its three-part structure operating together while six people stood around it and continuously poured extremely specialized forms of energy into the array... two of them were channeling the energy of the Fundamental Law of Life, another two were channeling the energy of the Fundamental Law of Reshaping, while the final two were pouring in healing soul force, all six energies working simultaneously within the same healing process.
And beside them... stood a handsome young man biting down nervously on his thumb, his eyes fixed on the array as he watched everything happening inside it with obvious anxiety. "Please be okay..."
Asir.
He could clearly see his Second Brother lying inside the array, still unconscious and showing no sign of waking yet, but the condition of his neck had already improved tremendously compared to before. Even the Law of Destruction couldn’t continue holding out for very long when confronted by two Laws of the same rank working against it at once, Life and Reshaping, especially while the healing soul force continued supporting the process. It was only a matter of time before Theo finally woke up... but knowing that didn’t make standing there and waiting any less nerve-racking!!
Among all his brothers, Theo had always held a particularly special place in Asir’s heart, one that naturally made his current condition far more difficult for him to calmly watch.
Ever since Asir had first opened his eyes, the only two people he’d consistently found beside him were Althera and Holak; Althera taught him manners along with the fundamentals and basics of the various training paths, while Holak would occasionally take him over near the gate so that he could smell the blood and watch the imps tearing into flesh with his own eyes... Those certainly weren’t pleasant sights for an ordinary child who was only one or two years old, nor were they the sort of scenes a child should normally become familiar with so early, but after seeing them repeatedly, he gradually became accustomed to them with time.
As a genius child who carried the Sun of Truth inside his head, however, Asir was far from an ordinary child in the first place, and by the time he’d reached his second year, his intelligence and ability to think were already comparable to those of a grown man despite his extremely young body.
During that period, he was told that Althera and Holak were merely his guardians, the two people entrusted with taking care of him, and that his actual father—the person who provided him with protection, food, the opportunity to train, and even every breath he was able to take in this new life—was his adoptive father, Robin... The person he’d seen sitting inside his Glass House, either staring silently toward the horizon or spending his time drawing something, turned out to be his father all along, as well as the master of the two people who had been caring for him since he first opened his eyes.
Asir finally received the opportunity to personally go and greet his adoptive father by the time he reached three years of age. On that particular day, Robin was sitting in front of the house and watching the sky with a smile on his face, while beside him sat someone dressed entirely in black, possessing extremely dark eyes and moving his mouth almost without pause as he continued speaking. That person turned out to be one of the brothers Asir had heard about but had never personally met before—Theo.
That day, Robin greeted the little boy by patting Asir gently on the head with a smile, then, without offering much explanation for the strange instruction, told Theo to take him on a tour and give him a brief introduction to the Cosmic Silence Law before he left.
Theo himself didn’t understand why Robin had suddenly asked him to do such a thing, while three-year-old Asir naturally understood even less about what this unusual arrangement was supposed to lead toward... but neither of them questioned the instruction, and both simply obeyed the order they’d been given.
Asir thus began learning about the Integrated Cosmic Silence Law for the first time, and his eyes only grew wider with amazement as every passing moment revealed something else to him. Theo’s explanation was simple, smooth, and remarkably easy for him to follow, and since his father had personally ordered Theo to explain it, Theo didn’t try to hide anything or deliberately withhold any information from the young boy. Instead, every time he noticed little Asir staring at him in obvious fascination, he would continue explaining a little more, giving him even more to think about and understand.
That seemingly simple meeting became the reason Asir developed such a deep love for the Cosmic Silence Law, yet he soon discovered that no matter how interested he was in it, he would never actually be able to study that Integrated Law directly because it was something meant exclusively for Theo... so rather than abandoning the fascination that meeting had created inside him, he began researching it by himself.
He started taking lessons in Time from Malik, Space from Weed, and Darkness from Harper, separately approaching the components that had attracted his attention while trying, through his own understanding, to recapture that same peculiar feeling of control and mystery that the Cosmic Silence Law had left in him during his first encounter with Theo.
Years after that first meeting, Asir finally received another opportunity to see Theo again, and this time he approached him with everything he’d managed to understand during those years and showed his Second Brother the results of his efforts.
Of course, Asir had always been an extraordinary genius when it came to Time, the path in which his talent was most obvious, but during those years of persistent study he’d also managed to make considerable progress in his understanding of both Space and Darkness, enough that what he presented to Theo wasn’t limited to his natural advantage in Time alone.
Impressed by what Asir had managed to understand on his own, Theo took the initiative to correct some of the mistakes in his understanding and personally teach him how to properly harmonize Time and Space in particular, focusing his explanation on the relationship between those two Laws while deliberately leaving Darkness aside for the time being.
Only a few days after that single session with Theo, Asir managed to comprehend the first degree of the Master Law of Spacetime, successfully taking the separate understanding he had accumulated over the years and bringing it together into something far greater.
When his father learned what he had obtained, Asir traveled to Theo that very same day without hesitation and knelt before him, thanking his Second Brother while tears streamed from his eyes and telling him that, in return for everything Theo had taught him, he would teach him everything he himself could sense, comprehend, and understand about Spacetime.
Theo merely smiled when he heard those words, reached out and gently patted Asir on the head... and refused his offer.
That generous explanation he’d received without Theo withholding anything from him, that satisfied smile on Theo’s face when he saw what Asir had achieved, and that mysterious refusal to accept anything in return all left an extraordinarily profound impression on Asir’s young heart, causing Theo’s position in his eyes to rise enormously until it almost approached the position occupied by his adoptive father himself!
Later, after Asir began continuously strengthening his soul and fragments of memories from his past in his first life gradually started surfacing within his mind, he didn’t simply allow everything from that previous existence to return. Instead, he took the initiative himself and deliberately suppressed all those emerging memories.
By the time Asir reached his first Royal Star, his soul domain had already been fully completed, stabilizing completely until it finally returned to being a normal soul domain rather than remaining affected by those memories surfacing from his previous life.
Asir selectively absorbed all the memories related to the battles he’d experienced and all the accumulated experience he’d possessed in the Path of Time up to the seventh degree, preserving everything that could benefit his current path, but he deliberately erased everything else from his memory and refused to carry it forward with him.
That meant that if he were to encounter his biological father again one day and stand directly before him, Asir would barely even recognize the man who had once been his father.
There had indeed been far too many tragedies between them, along with countless terrible memories, grievances, and injustices tied to that previous life, but when all of those things were placed beside the simple truth of how that life had ultimately ended...
A gift...? He had actually been given to Robin Burton as a gift.
After reaching that point, Asir no longer saw any reason to continue remembering anything else about those people or preserving memories that no longer had any place in the life he’d chosen for himself.
Now, as far as Asir himself was concerned, his entire life consisted of his adoptive father, his Second Brother Theo, and the two guardians who had been beside him since he opened his eyes, Althera and Holak.
"Please be okay..." Asir muttered anxiously once again as he continued watching from beside the healing array, his attention immediately sharpening when he finally saw Theo’s brows twitch faintly.
That bastard Helmor had eroded his brother’s neck so severely that Theo’s head had been left barely attached to the rest of his body, and merely remembering how horrifying that injury had looked was enough to make Asir’s anxiety surge again!!
Hum
"Asir."
At that moment, while Asir’s attention remained fixed on Theo and the healing process, a familiar voice suddenly came from somewhere behind him.
"Father?!" Asir quickly turned around at the sound of that voice and found a small golden window floating behind him, beyond which his adoptive father was sitting with his head resting against his left arm.
"Do you have the first- and second-stage Spacetime books with you right now?" Robin asked without wasting time on anything else, his eyes visibly unfocused as though much of his attention was currently occupied elsewhere.
"Yes." Asir quickly replied without hesitation, although he clearly didn’t understand why his father had suddenly appeared only to ask him about those two books.
"Good." Robin raised his other hand and began slowly rubbing the space between his brows as he continued, "After Theo wakes up, go with him wherever he decides to take you and have a few adventures along the way. You won’t truly improve if you don’t actually use what you’ve learned instead of only studying and understanding it."
"...?" Asir was greatly surprised by the sudden instruction and immediately looked at Robin with confusion. "Why are you telling me this now? Aren’t you going to talk to him when he wakes up and make sure he’s alright yourself? Are you going somewhere?"
"Tsk~" Robin shook his head lightly in response. "But Theo won’t want to see me after he wakes up. He’ll probably leave immediately instead of coming to face me. When he does, go with him... and use that opportunity to learn a thing or two from him."
"He’s a responsible man. He’ll feel ashamed to face me after what happened, but that won’t stop him from leaving to continue whatever he still has to do." Robin then turned his gaze away, his unfocused expression remaining unchanged as his thoughts returned to everything waiting for him. "...And I have a lot to think about."
