Seeing her confident self now, Feng Sanyuan smiled. “Very well, very well. Hearing you say that puts Grandfather’s mind at ease.”After strolling through the garden for a while, Guan Xilin arrived with Ye Jing and the child. She spent some time with them before returning to her courtyard to rest.
Even after years away, the courtyard she once lived in remained reserved for her. It was still cleaned regularly, just as it had been back then—nothing had changed.
Returning to the courtyard, she first took a bath before heading to her room. As soon as she entered, Xuanyuan Mo Ze patted the spot beside him on the bed and lifted back the quilt: “Come sleep for a while.”
Feng Jiu looked at him, her eyes softening into a gentle smile. She slipped off her outer robe and lay down beside him. His large hands wrapped around her waist, drawing her into his embrace.
“Sleep.”
His deep voice, tinged with a magnetic allure, murmured softly by her ear. She felt a tickle there, gently rubbing against his chest as her arms slid around his waist, savoring the comfort of his presence beside her.
“Mo Ze, it’s so good to have you here with me,” she murmured softly, her eyes closing as her entire body relaxed. Soon, she drifted into a deep, peaceful sleep in his embrace.
Xuanyuan Mo Ze listened to her words, his deep eyes filling with affection. He tilted his head slightly, watching Feng Jiu relax completely, nestled in his embrace and fast asleep. His thin lips curved upward, his gaze softening with tenderness.
He gently kissed her forehead and murmured, “Me too. Having you by my side this lifetime makes my journey through this world worthwhile.”
After resting for a day, they didn’t depart for Peach Blossom Ridge by carriage until the following morning.
Without flying on swords or soaring through the air, they walked slowly up the mountain from its base. This place, being Feng Jiu’s private domain and rarely occupied by them, was normally closed to outsiders. With guards stationed here, only members of the Feng family could access it.
“It’s been ages since I last visited, yet it remains just as beautiful,” Feng Ye remarked, his almond-shaped eyes taking in the ethereal landscape. He smiled and asked, “Ah Jiu, does your Immortal Island have such a place?”
“Yes, even more so,” Feng Jiu replied with a smile. The moment her voice faded, she sensed the ground tremble slightly, as if something was running toward them.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
A massive black figure burst out from the peach blossom grove, scrambling forward on all fours. With each stride, the ground shook.
“That big oaf!” Green Feather emerged from behind and called out upon seeing the giant black bear.
“Master! Master!”
The bear sprinted to Feng Jiu’s side, looking at her with a pouty expression. “Master, you’ve finally come back to see Little Black. Master, will you take Little Black with you this time? Master, I want to stay by your side. I don’t want to be left here alone anymore.”
Seeing him, Feng Jiu felt a pang of guilt. She reached out to stroke his head, but he was so tall her hand couldn’t reach. Just as she was about to withdraw it, he quickly crouched down, lifting his head toward her.
Seeing this, she couldn’t help but chuckle softly. She stroked its head and said, “You’ve worked so hard all these years. This time, I’ll take you to the Upper Immortal Realm to be with everyone.”
“Wonderful! Wonderful!! I can stay by Master’s side too, woof!” It cried out excitedly, standing up and clapping its paws together before letting out a joyful howl.
