Chapter 170: Back to the basics

This chapter is updated by NovelFree.ml

All the elves mostly walked around in groups of twos and they were extremely beautiful... they were a little bit paling compared to the superior natural spirits but they were all beauties in their own regards, the only thing that could be held against their beauty was that they were all pretty skinny so it could be a turn-off for some people with different tastes.

But Yun Jhin wasn't admiring their beauty, his eyes were glittering due to their souls that were infused with healing energy and their bodies full of natural energy, he was looking at them like a farmer would look at cattle before they slaughtered it and barbecued it with chili sauce for the Christmas dinner.

Even though Yun Jhin had nefarious intentions he hid them very well, he had done this countless times and there were no old fogies to trouble him now, the mother world tree was deeply sleeping for some reason that he couldn't identify right now as he would need to get closer to it. The tree had its gigantic eyes closed as its aged face didn't move, the gigantic being was so big that it took 20% of the planet's surface and it was visible from wherever you would be standing.

The gigantic being was as old as the universe itself, the universe created it along with the father tree as the patriarchs of vegetative beings and conferred them a will of their own, they were wonders of the universe and they were practically immortal and unkillable as long as the two were together.

However, as time passed just like a married couple that got bored of each other they had their hassles and disagreements so they split up while creating a new race, the elves, to protect their darlings the nature spirits. Due to the special constitution and temperament of the nature spirits, they were hunted for their capability to help body refiners quickly rise through the ranks and upgrade the body's constitution. Elves were somewhat similar to nature spirits in the regard of their flesh and blood being quite helpful towards other beings as they were created by the same consciousness.

undefinedIf the nature spirits were the legitimate children of the father and mother world trees then the elves were the illegitimate sons and daughters. Those illegitimate sons and daughters got quite angry with the official ones as they could be considered 'talented' while the official sons were trash young masters who couldn't even tussle with a chicken.

Thus the nature spirits were being treated with contempt and belittled under the noses of the mother and father tree, unfortunately for them, the duo of trees was mostly sleeping these days.

Yun Jhin really needed a new nature spirit as well, his new body which he will have to recreate would start again from scratch regarding body refinement and a nature spirit's heart would boost his recovery by more than 500%.

Yun Jhin walked through the crowd of elves easily avoiding body contact with all of them, but his eyes were marking all of his future victims, this 'city' which they landed in was in the gray areas of the planet which meant the security was lax and most of the people here were battle-hardened people full of ki and spirit, snakes and dragons would be hiding around this place.

Yun Jhin disappeared into an alleyway as his figure turned transparent as he activated his stealth technique.

His first victim was a couple that was slowly walking towards their home to the district of homes that wasn't far away from the ship receiving pad.

The homes were created up into the trees and they were all quite big for two people and from what Yun Jhin knew elves liked to live in couples of no more than two.

Yun Jhin slipped through the shadows as if he was a slippery serpent, its tongue forking out of his mouth to find its way towards its prey.

The couple was unknowing, they were both chatting and laughing happily as if they were the only people in the world.

Yun Jhin liked his victims being unknowing, they could struggle less this way so he wouldn't have to make a mess out of them.

Yun Jhin appearance behind them was instant and they couldn't even process what happened before two palms were put over their mouths as Yun Jhin forcefully dragged them into a nearby alleyway.

No screams were coming from the alleyway, no blood running down the greenery below, nothing was heard as they disappeared in the middle of the day, somehow no one batted an eyelid at what happened as if it was something that happened often, Yun Jhin had already laid down a concealing formation the moment he dragged the duo out of the way to their homes so no one saw what happened.

Yun Jhin walked out of the alleyway with his hands in his pockets, his gait seemed a little bit more stable than before and his face gained a glint of red in it but it wasn't visible unless one was clearly near him.

"These elves are so rich in ki and spirit... it was as if they were fattened up beforehand for this to happen, this is actually rather strange."

Yun Jhin muttered to himself as he looked to his left and right before disappearing again, in Yun Jhin's memories elves were extremely inferior compared to the nature spirits in regards to how much ki and healing properties they could hold into their flesh and blood but these two were quite different. They tasted strange as if they were fed something that forcefully increased their ability to heal.

Could Yuan Fang have a hand in this? He didn't think the other righteous fools would put their hands in this place, fighting with the elves was like trying to hold a hot potato, you could burn yourself quite easily if you didn't handle it with care or had gloves. And these righteous sects didn't know how to use their gloves properly.

Yun Jhin frowned as Yuan Fang was the only one which came to his mind as he realized his claws had stretched to the elves territory already, he was as busy as he was in hell but it seemed he didn't get into complications as he did.

Another couple disappeared into an alleyway as their muffled screams couldn't be heard due to the formation blocking them.

In another four hours, tens of couples disappeared and afterward, Yun Jhin left the city flying towards the east where the mother tree was located. He needed to investigate what happened or he wouldn't feel well, his healing also went on pretty nice due to the immense surplus the otherwise normal elves had in their healing capability. He was almost 60% healed and he would be able to reconstruct his body quite soon as long as he continued eating elves.

Yun Jhin arrived at the base of the mother tree where the biggest city on the planet was in 60 hours there he hid in the crowd and listened to someone who was preaching near the tree quite loudly:

"Don't you see that the outsiders had poisoned our mother? She had never slept for such a long time up till now and they said that they would heal her! What happened is preposterous and these outsiders deserve the death penalty for what they had done!"

This person wasn't weak as he was at the peak of the sage realm and he wore a green loose robe that showed his muscular body and intimidating form. He was the chieftain of the city and a big supporter of the mother tree, he believed that if anything happened to her they would all be doomed which wasn't technically true, the connection between them would hurt them a little but it wouldn't be anything major the connection between a race's creator and the race itself wouldn't affect the race if the creator died unless the creator was the universe itself.

As the man talked Yun Jhin waited and listened, at one point the man described the features of those who arrived to help the mother tree and Yun Jhin recognized one of them, it was the person with the monkey tail!

He came out of hell no long ago but he arrived here before Yun Jhin, of course, Yun Jhin took the long away around but it was still nevertheless impressive as he must have done some more errands for Yuan Fang before he was sent here after all the news needed to be confirmed some way and Yun Jhin was sure that Yuan Fang had the same kind of paranoia as him.

The man flew towards the tree as he put his hand on its bark and started to weep silently, tears started to slide down his cheeks as Yun Jhin watched on unaffected, would Yuan Fang's forces come out of the tree and beat this strange elf to death?

Yun Jhin watched on and waited.
