Chapter 1673 Two Heros

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

When Gary spoke, it wasn’t something he had planned to do. The words had slipped out before he could stop himself, as they often did. He already knew the answer, or at least part of it. These two individuals who had descended from the sky had no reason to know who he, Kai, or Lupus were. Still, confusion twisted tightly in his chest, and the question had forced its way out anyway.

“What about us?”

The moment the words left his mouth, Gary realized how small they sounded compared to everything else happening around them.

The fight between the two packs had been stopped. Completely. Just moments ago, Jack and Steve had been charging at each other with killing intent, their transformations unfinished, their claws and weapons ready. The system itself had forced Gary, Kai, and Lupus to choose sides, making it feel like the decision would determine everything that followed.

Yet now, it was as if none of it mattered.

The golden light had fallen from the sky regardless of their choice. Jack and Steve had been halted before they could clash. Galdark, Bliss, and Lenny had arrived exactly when the battle seemed unavoidable.

That realization made Gary uneasy.

If the system had demanded they choose a side, if the choice had felt so heavy, then why did it seem like the outcome was the same no matter what they picked?

Gary’s mind raced as he tried to piece it together. Maybe if they had chosen differently, the timing would have changed. Perhaps Jack and Steve would have exchanged blows before being interrupted. Maybe one of them would have been wounded, or worse. Or maybe Bluebird would have stepped in instead, forcing the fight to stop another way.

Or maybe the choice had never been about the packs at all.

The more Gary thought about it, the more it felt like a test that didn’t care about the answer, only about how they reacted afterward. And right now, standing there with no system screen guiding them, he had no idea what they were supposed to do next.

That was why he had asked.

Steve and Galdark were the first to turn toward them. Both men looked at the trio almost at the same time, studying them with identical expressions, thoughtful, cautious, but not hostile.

Then, surprisingly, they spoke at once.

“Actually,” Steve said.

“I think the three of them should come with us,” Galdark said.

The two paused, then glanced at each other in mild surprise.

The reaction caused a stir among both packs. Murmurs rippled through the gathered werewolves. The three Omegas had fought for one side, then the other, and yet now both Alphas were suggesting they be included in whatever came next.

“That’s unexpected,” Kai muttered under his breath.

“They know a lot about what’s happening,” Galdark continued, stepping forward. “They’ve been involved from the start, whether they intended to be or not. If nothing else, they can help clear things up. And if there’s more to uncover, they might be able to help with that too.”

Lenny shifted his weight and glanced at Bliss. She simply shrugged, her blue hair moving slightly with the motion, as if this decision didn’t concern her much either way.

“I don’t see a problem with it,” she said calmly.

Jack remained silent, but he didn’t object. That alone was enough to quiet most of the grumbling from his pack.

Steve exhaled slowly, as if making up his mind.

“I know a place where we can talk,” he said. “Somewhere quiet. Away from everyone else.”

He raised his hand and pointed toward the mountain looming behind the camp. High above them, carved into the stone, was a familiar area where large-scale matches were often held, far enough from the main encampments that no one could easily eavesdrop.

Without waiting for further argument, Steve turned and began walking.

The others followed.

Instead of transforming and rushing ahead, the group climbed on foot. The pace was deliberate. Jack and Galdark naturally took the lead, their long strides eating away at the incline, while Steve slowed slightly, allowing Gary, Kai, and Lupus to walk beside him.

Steve glanced at them as they ascended, his expression serious.

“Tell me everything,” he said. “From the beginning.”

So they did.

As they climbed, Gary explained what had been happening at Red Wing, what Jack was going through, and what they had learned along the way. He spoke about Lilly, about the strange curse affecting her, about the tension that had been building long before the two packs ever met on the battlefield.

Steve listened carefully, occasionally nodding. A few times, his eyes narrowed, as if certain pieces were finally clicking into place.

“I suspected some of this,” Steve admitted quietly. “But hearing it laid out like that… it confirms a few things.”

“What about those two?” Kai asked, nodding toward Lenny and Bliss ahead of them. “Who are they really, and why do they matter so much?”

Steve didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he took a breath.

“Lenny and Bliss are heroes from the past,” he said. “Not just heroes, pillars of Bronzeland’s history. Some would say they’re the most important figures who ever lived here.”

That caught all three of their attention.

Steve went on to explain. Lenny was an alchemist, a genius far ahead of his time, capable of curing afflictions no ordinary healer could even understand. Bliss, despite being referred to as divine, was best described as a mage, though her power far exceeded what most mages could ever hope to achieve.

“It seems Lenny is suffering from the same condition as Lilly,” Steve added. “That wasn’t the case before. Whatever this is, it changed him.”

As Steve spoke, Gary felt a strange sense of familiarity tug at the back of his mind. He couldn’t explain it, but something about Lenny felt… close. Like a name he’d heard long ago, or a shadow of something connected to another life.

Kai and Lupus seemed to feel it too, though neither of them said it aloud.

“I wanted you to know this for a reason,” Steve continued. “If you truly are from a different time, and if you’re searching for answers about why you’re here, then those two, Lenny and Bliss, are probably the ones who can give them to you.”
