Chapter 77 The Heart of Stone: 5 The Final Gambit

The air inside the Akatsuki hideout was thick with tension. Yagura’s roar reverberated through the walls, and the oppressive weight of the Three-Tails’ chakra filled every corner of the chamber. His body was half-consumed by the beast’s energy, his skin morphing with the turtle-like scales of the bijū. The jinchūriki was dangerously close to losing all control.

Deidara stood back, his face lit with excitement as he sized up Yagura’s new form. “Look at him, un. This is what real art is about—pushing the limits, going beyond the edge!”

Sasori, ever pragmatic, stepped forward, Hiruko ready for battle. “He’s more dangerous now than ever before. Don’t let your guard down.”

Yagura’s eyes flickered between the two Akatsuki members, a mixture of rage and desperation burning within them. “I won’t let you take me… I won’t let the Three-Tails fall into your hands!”

With a sudden burst of speed, Yagura charged forward, his chakra tail lashing out like a whip. Deidara barely managed to jump out of the way, his clay bird darting into the air to avoid the attack.

“That was close, un,” Deidara muttered, his hands already moving to form another explosive creation. “I guess he’s not going down without a fight.”

Sasori moved in swiftly, sending a wave of iron sand from his puppet to ensnare Yagura. The black metal coiled around the jinchūriki’s arms and legs, but with a furious roar, Yagura tore through the sand with sheer force, shattering it into pieces.

“He’s stronger now,” Sasori observed coldly. “The Three-Tails is feeding him more chakra.”

Deidara grinned, clearly enjoying the challenge. “Perfect, un! That just makes it more interesting!”

As Yagura’s chakra flared again, the ground beneath him cracked and splintered. Water from the lake outside began to seep into the chamber, drawn by the jinchūriki’s power. The liquid coiled around him like a living force, responding to his will. With a sweep of his arm, Yagura sent a massive wave of water crashing toward Deidara and Sasori.

Deidara’s clay bird swooped low, barely avoiding the torrent, while Sasori’s iron sand formed a barrier to protect him from the onslaught.

“This is getting out of hand,” Sasori said, his voice laced with irritation. “We need to end this before he loses control completely.”

Deidara chuckled, clearly unbothered. “Don’t worry, I’ve got it covered, un.”

With a swift motion, Deidara threw several small clay spiders toward Yagura. As they scuttled across the ground, they expanded, growing larger and larger until they were towering over the jinchūriki.

“Katsu!” Deidara shouted, and the spiders exploded in unison, sending shockwaves through the chamber.

But when the smoke cleared, Yagura was still standing, though visibly weakened. His form flickered, the Three-Tails’ chakra receding slightly as the strain of maintaining control took its toll on him.

Sasori saw his chance. Without hesitation, he sent a wave of iron sand toward Yagura, wrapping around him once more. This time, the iron sand formed a tight cocoon, restricting the jinchūriki’s movements entirely.

“Now,” Sasori said, his eyes narrowing. “We seal him.”

Deidara landed beside Sasori, still grinning but clearly ready to finish the mission. “Finally, un. Took long enough.”

Yagura struggled within the iron sand cocoon, his breath labored and his body shaking from the exertion of containing the Three-Tails. His eyes, however, still burned with defiance.

“I won’t… let you… win…” Yagura gasped, but his strength was fading fast.

Sasori ignored his words and began the sealing process. His hands moved through a series of complex seals, and the chamber was soon filled with an eerie glow as the jutsu activated.

The sealing jutsu began to pull at the Three-Tails’ chakra, slowly drawing it out of Yagura’s body. The jinchūriki gritted his teeth, fighting against the inevitable, but it was a losing battle. The power of the Akatsuki’s jutsu was too great.

As the last of the Three-Tails’ chakra was sealed away, Yagura collapsed, his body falling limp within the iron sand cocoon. The battle was over.

Sasori released his hold, and the iron sand retracted, leaving Yagura unconscious on the ground. The once-mighty jinchūriki now lay motionless, his connection to the Three-Tails severed.

Deidara walked over, looking down at Yagura’s defeated form. “Well, that was fun, un. A bit messy, but still fun.”

Sasori didn’t respond. He was already focused on what came next—transporting Yagura back to the Akatsuki base, where the final stages of their plan would unfold.

“We need to move quickly,” Sasori said, his voice calm and controlled. “The longer we stay here, the greater the risk.”

Deidara nodded, though his usual cocky grin remained. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s get this over with, un.”

Together, they prepared to transport Yagura back to the Akatsuki’s headquarters, their mission complete. But as they left the ruined chamber behind, neither could shake the feeling that this victory, like all their victories, came with a price.

For Yagura, the battle had been lost, but his spirit remained unbroken. Even in defeat, he had fought to the end, refusing to let the Akatsuki take him without a fight.

And for Sasori and Deidara, the mission was just another step toward the Akatsuki’s ultimate goal—a goal that would soon bring them face to face with even greater challenges.

As they disappeared into the shadows, the echo of Yagura’s defiance lingered in the air, a reminder that even the strongest weapons of the Akatsuki could not completely extinguish the will of those who stood against them.
