Chapter 128 Kurama’s Misadventures, Fox in a Ninja’s Body: 1 The Fox in Control

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

It started out as an ordinary day for Naruto Uzumaki, the beloved and slightly goofy ninja of Konoha. Well, as ordinary as days could be for the boy who had a nine-tailed fox sealed inside him. But today, things were about to take a very strange turn.

Naruto had been training hard, as usual, pushing himself to the limit while Kurama, the Nine-Tails, lounged around inside his mind. The fox had grown accustomed to Naruto’s boundless energy, though he still found the kid’s antics irritating. But today, something unusual happened. Naruto pushed himself too far, leaving his body vulnerable for just a moment.

And that’s when Kurama seized his chance.

Naruto groggily opened his eyes, or rather, Kurama did. For the first time since being sealed inside the boy, Kurama found himself in control of Naruto’s body. He blinked, looking down at his human hands with a mix of confusion and curiosity.

“Huh... this feels... weird,” Kurama muttered, his voice coming out in Naruto’s usual tone, but with a deeper, more serious edge.

He stretched, getting used to the feeling of human muscles and bones moving. “Ugh, no tail. And what’s with these ridiculous hands?”

Kurama flexed his fingers experimentally. This was certainly going to be interesting. He hadn’t been in control of a body in centuries, and now he had the free rein of Naruto’s form.

But as much as Kurama wanted to flex his newfound freedom, he quickly realized that there was a problem. If anyone noticed that Naruto wasn’t acting like himself, it could spell disaster. The other ninjas weren’t exactly fans of the Nine-Tails, and if they figured out what was going on, they might try to seal him back, or worse, kick him out entirely.

Kurama grinned wickedly to himself. “Heh, this could be fun.”

As Kurama wandered through the streets of Konoha, trying to keep up appearances, things immediately started to go wrong. The first person to greet him was Sakura, who spotted "Naruto" from across the street and waved enthusiastically.

“Hey, Naruto!” she called out, jogging over to him with a smile.

Kurama froze, his mind racing. He needed to act like Naruto. Think like Naruto. Be like Naruto.

“Uh… hey, Sakura!” he replied, his tone a bit too deep and menacing for Naruto’s usual cheerful greeting. Sakura blinked, her smile faltering slightly.

“Are you okay, Naruto? You sound... different.”

Kurama cursed inwardly. How did that idiot sound again? High-pitched? Goofy? Always blabbering about something dumb? “Uh... I’m totally fine! Just, uh, ate too much ramen. Haha!”

Sakura’s brow furrowed, but before she could say anything, a familiar voice cut in.

“Yo, Naruto! Up for a spar?”

Kurama turned to see Kiba, Akamaru perched on his shoulder, striding toward him with a grin. Kurama groaned internally. He barely had a handle on this human body, and now they wanted him to fight?

“Uh… no!” Kurama blurted out, waving his hands wildly. “I, uh, sprained my… arm.”

Kiba raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “Your arm, huh? Both of them?”

Kurama frowned. “Yeah. Both arms. Really bad sprain. Doctor said no fighting, or, uh, they’ll fall off.”

Kiba snorted in disbelief, crossing his arms. “That’s the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard. You’ve been hanging around Kakashi too much.”

Akamaru barked in agreement, sniffing suspiciously at Kurama. The fox inside Naruto’s body tensed as the dog came closer, his sharp nose twitching.

Kiba’s eyes widened. “Whoa, Akamaru says you smell weird today. You sure you’re okay?”

Kurama gritted his teeth, feeling the urge to growl at the dog, but quickly remembered where he was. He couldn’t just go around scaring off Naruto’s friends. “Yeah, yeah! Just a rough day, you know? Nothing to worry about.”

Kiba stared for a moment longer before shrugging. “If you say so. But I’m keeping an eye on you, Naruto. You’ve been acting weird lately.”

Kurama sighed as Kiba walked away. This was going to be harder than he thought.

Kurama spent the rest of the day avoiding any further interaction with Naruto’s friends. He kept his head down, tried to mimic Naruto’s obnoxious grin when needed, and stayed away from anything remotely physical. But it seemed that luck wasn’t on his side.

Just as he was about to sneak away for some peace and quiet, he ran straight into Hinata.

Kurama froze, knowing all too well how this girl felt about Naruto. He had seen enough from inside the kid’s head to know that she was infatuated with him, which made this situation even more awkward.

“N-Naruto!” Hinata stammered, her face turning bright red as she fidgeted with her hands.

Kurama sighed internally. “Uh, hey... Hinata,” he muttered, trying his best to sound like the real Naruto.

Hinata blushed even harder, looking like she was about to faint. “I-I was just w-wondering if you w-wanted to... um... have ramen together?”

Kurama’s eye twitched. Was this what humans did for fun? Ate ramen all day? He couldn’t handle this kind of nonsense, but he knew he couldn’t just blow her off without raising suspicions.

“Uh, sure! Ramen! Love it!” Kurama replied with a strained grin, patting her awkwardly on the head, which only caused Hinata to nearly collapse from embarrassment.

Kurama groaned inwardly as they made their way to Ichiraku’s Ramen. This was going to be a long day.

***

Kurama’s first day in control of Naruto’s body quickly spiraled into chaos, and this was only the beginning of his misadventures. Trying to act like Naruto while hiding his true identity from Naruto’s friends was proving to be a far greater challenge than the fox had anticipated.
