Several figures appeared in the sky, their Emperor might crashing over the crowd like a powerful wave. At the front were eight men and women, radiating overwhelming power.Long Chen’s pupils shrank as he recognized their status: nine-vein Human Emperors. Moreover, they were far stronger than Chu He[1]. Though they were all nine-vein Emperors, Chu He seemed like an ant in comparison.
These nine-vein Human Emperors were truly terrifying, their auras comparable to those of the Silver Wing Heaven Devils he had taken.
“They are the Wind God Sea Pavilion’s assistant pavilion masters,” Tang Wan-er transmitted to Long Chen. “Behind them are three of the four Divine Wind Elders, but my master isn’t here yet.”
Feng Xinyue was also one of the Divine Wind Elders, ranking just below the assistant pavilion masters. Despite her apprentice preparing for battle, she hadn’t arrived yet.
Behind the Divine Wind Elders were the higher-ups of the Wind God Sea Pavilion. Thousands of them had gathered, showing how much importance the pavilion placed on this ranking competition.
“Qingyan, what are you doing? How can you act out at such a gathering? Can you randomly attack people here? A general’s sword is not meant for flies. You are becoming more and more of a disappointment,” rebuked a middle-aged woman among the eight assistant pavilion masters.
“Qing[2] Yan? More like not light,” Long Chen murmured to himself but loud enough for everyone to hear.
They want to play, right? Then I’ll play.
Although it was a quiet murmur, it was too quiet here, so everyone heard it.
The young disciples bit their lips tightly, afraid of accidentally laughing. Some people bit down so hard that their lips bled.
“You…!” The Clay Jar ground her teeth furiously.
This Clay Jar’s name was Bu Qingyan. It was a nice name, but Long Chen’s mocking made it seem ill-fitting.
“Impudence. Who gave you the right to speak here?!” the elderly woman shouted, anger flashing in her eyes.
“She is Bu Qingyan’s family elder. Long Chen, be careful,” transmitted Tang Wan-er.
Long Chen now understood why this old woman immediately stepped forward to speak to Bu Qingyan and insult him. So they were actually from the same family.
“Tang Wan-er, what are you trying to do?! All the assistant pavilion masters are here! Is secretly communicating between yourselves the proper decorum? Did your master never teach you basic manners?!” shouted another elder.
“Disciple knows her wrongs,” said Tang Wan-er, bowing.
“Hmph, it’s fine. Children raised in the wilderness don’t learn proper manners,” scoffed another Divine Wind Elder.
“Your talent isn’t bad, but you lack proper upbringing. It’s not entirely your fault, though. It’s your master’s fault for not raising you properly,” added the last Divine Wind Elder, an icy-faced old crone.
Gritting her teeth, Tang Wan-er answered, “My master is the best master in this world. Any mistakes I make are my own and have nothing to do with her.”
Hearing this, the three Divine Wind Elders furrowed their brows, and the old crone snapped, “You dare to argue?! You really don’t know how to recognize other people’s kindness! We are offering guidance out of kindness, yet you repay us with disrespect? There’s no hope for you!”
Tang Wan-er quivered with rage but bit her tongue, refusing to cry.
As they criticized Tang Wan-er, Long Chen’s gaze swept over the crowd. He noticed that the eight assistant pavilion masters, three Divine Wind Elders, and thousands of higher-ups treated Tang Wan-er frostily. They all seemed to dislike her.
Hearing them dare to sanctimoniously criticize Tang Wan-er, Long Chen stepped forward and sneered at the crone, “Put away your hypocritical kindness. You are old, so keep your mouth cleaner. Leave some good karma for your descendants.”
Seeing Long Chen dare to insult this elder, everyone was shocked. Did he have a death wish?
“Outrageous!” the crone roared, unleashing her Emperor might upon Long Chen.
Tang Wan-er grunted in pain and almost spat blood as the pressure slammed down on them. The Hidden Dragon warriors felt as though their bones were about to break; the pain was immense. This powerful overwhelming force tried to crush them, pushing them to kneel. If they knelt, the suppression would instantly stop.
However, they were no longer the people they once were. Having endured the trials of blood and fire, the tests of life and death, they had transformed. Even under the crushing weight of a nine-vein Emperor’s might, they refused to kneel. They would rather die standing than live on their knees.
What they faced were only the aftershocks of the true force, as Long Chen bore the brunt of the pressure. Yet, he stood firm like an unshakable mountain.
The higher-ups looked on, astonished. None of them had expected a Mortal Saint like Long Chen to withstand the might of a nine-vein Emperor. Was it even possible?
Long Chen looked the crone straight in the eye. With a calm voice, he said, “You’re old, your grave is already waiting for you. Stop embarrassing yourself with this pathetic show of strength and just go lie in it.”
Long Chen didn’t fear a nine-vein Emperor’s pressure. His physical body was too strong to be injured by something so trivial. Moreover, the essence of this kind of pressure was rooted in will and soul—his strongest attributes. To him, this level of force was utterly insignificant.
Once again, everyone was stunned. He truly seemed unaffected by the Emperor’s oppressive might.
“You rely on some treasure to shield yourself? And you think that makes you bold? Today, I’ll teach an insolent brat a lesson,” the old crone snarled, stepping forward with clear intent to strike.
As she moved to attack, none of the higher-ups moved to stop her, not the eight assistant pavilion masters or the other two Divine Wind Elders.
When Long Chen saw this, killing intent appeared in his eyes. He slowly raised his hands, about to summon the Silver Wing Heaven Devil.
“You think you’re qualified to teach him a lesson? Even if you trained for another ten lifetimes, you still wouldn’t be worthy.”
Upon hearing that cold voice, Tang Wan-er immediately cried out in delight, “Master!”
