Chapter 275: Where’s the Badge?

This chapter is updated by NovelFree.ml

Inside the protectorate administrative building’s defence department’s courtyard, a drunk middle-aged guy could be seen walking toward the hall with a bottle of wine in his hand, singing and dancing.

“What the hell do you want?” He sounded very annoyed. “Can’t I even drink peacefully for a while?”

Two young cultivators were standing in the hall, trembling with fear as he came over. When he was standing in front of them, they bowed 90 degrees immediately. “Senior Gan, something went wrong! The trap in the dungeon was activated!”

“Dungeon?” the middle-aged man hummed, still drunk and unaware of what was happening. After a few seconds, something struck him. “Wait, dungeon?!”

“Yes, Senior.”

The middle-aged guy immediately felt awake. He grabbed a badge of authority out from his sleeves and fiddled with it.

With this badge, one could have absolute control of the array in the dungeon.

The badge suddenly lit up and formed a picture in the middle of the air.

The middle-aged guy found two dots on the picture that shouldn’t have been there.

Intruders.

“Oh, Foundation Realm?” He sneered.

After knowing the other party’s level of cultivation, he felt at ease. He waved the badge in midair to control the array and encircle the two intruders.

The dungeon in the administrative building was of utmost importance, thus the array was created by a Solid Pellet Realm. Even though it was incomplete, it would be a piece of cake to get rid of two Foundation Realms.

The middle-aged man thus threw this matter to the back of his mind and diverted his attention to how he should gamble later on.

“Senior Gan!” The young cultivators’ shrieks brought him back to reality.

“What the hell do you want now?” The middle-aged man threw them a death glare.

But he saw the two youngsters staring at the picture created by the badge with mouths wide open.

The middle-aged man raised his eyebrows, and what was before him shocked him too.

“Huh? They managed to break through that?” The dots in the picture representing the bronze statues had stopped flashing.

The middle-age man clenched his fist and sneered. “You think that’s all? Idiots!” He waved the badge, and numerous dots encircled the pair.

“Oh my fucking god!” Zhou Ruying cried.

I just got to rest after getting done with all the stupid statues! Why are there so many black things around me now!?

“Soul magic?” Lu Mingshu squinted her eyes.

Zhou Ruying forced a blob of black gas to retreat and turned to Lu Mingshu. “Hey, smarty-pants, what do we do now?”

These things weren’t human or beast, they were lumps of something surrounded by black gas. They dashed at the Lu Mingshu duo as if they weren’t afraid of dying, and they had unimaginable strength.

Even Zhou Ruying, who was used to blood and dead bodies, shuddered upon seeing these.

“You’re afraid of ghosts?” Lu Mingshu sneered.

“Who’s afraid of ghosts?” Zhou Ruying rolled her eyes. Who would be willing to admit that? “These are just disgusting, alright?”

After she finished, a soul magic blob passed by her and she accidentally came into contact with it. Zhou Ruying jumped up in disgust and started attacking with no aim as she felt the cold gas gliding off her skin. “Get lost! Disgusting shit!” She then turned to Lu Mingshu and whined, “Hurry up and do something!”

“Keep all your mystic force.” Lu Mingshu sighed.

“What?”

“Hurry up. Pretend you’re a rock and keep all your mystic force. All of it.”

“You must be kidding!” Zhou Ruying suspected that she had difficulty in hearing.

Lu Mingshu shrugged and kept her sword and mystic force.

“Faster!”

Seeing her do it, Zhou Ruying followed unwillingly even though she suspected the reliability.

A blob of soul magic came ever nearer to Zhou Ruying, almost sticking to her. Zhou Ruying trembled and kept her eyes shut. “Lu Mingshu!” she whined.

“Follow me.” Lu Mingshu grabbed her. “Follow closely, alright?”

“Shut up and act!”

Lu Mingshu said nothing and started moving forward cautiously. One step forward, two steps back, then moving to the right before moving forward again.

“Huh?” One of the young cultivators squinted his eyes. “Senior Gan, they’re gone!”

The middle-aged guy went closer to have a look. In the picture, the dots representing the intruders were now gone. Only the soul magic blobs he spawned were bundled together, unable to find the targets.

“Gone? Impossible!” he muttered. They were still there just a second ago! Even if they succeeded in breaking through the array, they wouldn’t just go missing like this.

He bit his lips and suddenly exclaimed, “Oh no! These two… I’ll go down right away.”

Zhou Ruying stood straight against the wall and watched the weird black lumps bumping into each other but not her and Lu Mingshu. “Why are they not coming for us?”

“Because they can’t find us!”

“Why not? We’re so big.”

Lu Mingshu laughed. “They don’t have eyes.”

Zhou Ruying squinted her eyes to have a better look. She then immediately knew what happened. “No wonder. They recognize people by mystic force.”

Lu Mingshu nodded. “Not only that, the way we walked previously made us seem like we are one of them, which confused them even more.”

“But even with that, are we supposed to just stand here forever? We’ll still die.” Zhou Ruying sighed.

Lu Mingshu shook her head. “It won’t take forever for someone to come.”

As soon as she finished saying that, they could feel the stone door shaking. Somebody stepped in.

“Get them!” Lu Mingshu looked at Zhou Ruying sternly.

Zhou Ruying understood her immediately.

Like lighting, both of them pounced at the door as soon as the person came in.

When martial artists decided to act, it was not a joke.

Even though he saw them coming at him, he could barely react. He only managed to take out a magic tool and throw it at them.

Ding!

The magic tool was now held by Lu Mingshu, and at the same time, Zhou Ruying’s sword was on his neck.

The other party stood rooted to the ground.

Even though he always acted on his own, he hardly encountered any danger. With the badge, he only needed to control the array to deal with any intruders as soon as he entered. The array wasn’t complete, but to deal with Foundation Realms, it could kill twenty easily. He only ever came just to make sure they were dead.

The last thing he expected was that he would be captured as soon as he opened the door.

What the fuck? Am I dreaming?

“Don’t move now.” Zhou Ruying smiled sweetly. “I’m as timid as a mouse, so if you scare me by acting as you wish, I might cut your head off accidentally!”

“…” The middle-aged man raised both hands up slowly. “Miss, please calm down….”

Lu Mingshu looked at the man and stared at him. “Give me the badge of authority.”

The middle-aged man looked at her in shock. Not just anyone could get their hands on the badge, only people who were trusted. Losing the badge was a serious crime. If I lost it…
