Days passed.
However the restrictions on violence and strict curfew persisted. The Deans placed a very tight leash on everyone, including the elders.
Of course, it is not like there are no incidents at all. Sam diversified and spread out the information as much as possible. He sent most of the information from the Olympian region to different regions. Some went to Duat, some went to Xia.
He found the pairs that could create most damage upon clashing.
But there are some great cases, where the information of some people falls in the same region and some times there are even rarer cases when the information just fell in the same
academy. He created these cases for two reasons.
First one is the existence of the factions within the academy. Even though they are single entity, the thirst for power and greed for authority divided them into so many factions, some times the arch-enemies of some people happened to be in their immediate vicinity.
Another one is that they are dumb people and will be desperate enough to flip the table and just start the fire.
He hoped that in case the academies reacted like they did now, these idiots will start the conflicts.
However, Sam clearly underestimated the current situation. The Deans and elders suppressed these incidents so hard that not even the students of the same academy are not aware when an incident happened next to them.
They didn't leave past the academy doors and they are far cry from reaching Sam.
Sam didn't understand why these people became so docile all of a sudden. He knew for a fact that they are grinding their weapons waiting to cut his head off. But now, he gave them a thousand times more incentive, a lot more definite than whatever they could have gotten from trying to kill him, but they just shut themselves off.
He tried to fish some information from here and there, but there is no use.
Not many people are willing to talk to him. There are some that do, but...
"I can understand why are you curious. But I am too lazy to explain." That's what Chorus said.
"Can we count it as us getting even? As you usually say, information is the most valuable thing." That is what Ling Tian said.
Sam decisively left. He is not going to let Ling Tian off the hook that easily.
Finally, he went to someone who he thought would be a long shot.
"Oh? I know about it. What do you want to know?" Dove said with a wide and bright smile that made Sam feel like he is in a children's fairy tale.
The way she placed her hand on his shoulder with puffed chest. She seemed way too delighted to just have the chance to teach him.
Sam sighed and said.
"Alright, first things first. Why the hell the academy realm is so calm? I thought people would have been at each other's throats. Is the conquest of restricted realms that important?" "Important? That word doesn't even cut it.
I understand why the students are ignorant of it, but the Conquest of restricted worlds is one thing that completely destroys the current ranking system. From what I read in some archaic records, there are some academies that directly climbed dozens of ranks in just a year after the conquest started."
"It has an impact on rankings?"
"Of course, not just rankings. Basically, every quarter there would be an evaluation. There would be a conquest ranking based on that. The better your academy's ranking in that system, the better their ranking will be in the academy ranking system.
You might not see an immediately jump of twenty thirty ranks, but the longer you hold a high position in a world, the better your rewards will be. For both the academy and the students.
Let's assume that you have the lead in one of the worlds. You will receive the reward for the first quarter. And the reward will be worth 90 points multiplied by the percentage of area that you conquered. So, let's say that you have thirty percent area under your control. That would 2700 points.
You and your academy will both get a reward worth that many points.
Next comes the good part. If you continue to hold the lead for the next quarter, and even increased your area. Then the point system will change a bit. For the first thirty percent, your rewards will be multiplied by 180 points. That would be 5400 points. And let's say you conquered 10 percent more in that time. That will be multiplied by 10 multiplied by 90. 900 more points. Just like that, you now have 6300 points by second quarter.
There are also special bonuses.
Of course, the point system and reward system are divided by the grade levels. From what I know, the first graders are not allowed to participate. The second graders to fourth graders can participate. There are special worlds for Instructor level, elder level and even some Dean level places.
They also have a separate point system and reward system."
"So, how can these points be converted to rewards?"
"It is very easy. The exchange center is used for the rewards exchange. You can even exchange the points for coins there if you need. But for the actual rewards, there is a list of sorts. A
catalog.
If you obtained a thousand points in one world. A thousand will be credited to the academy account and another thousand will be credited to the students. It will be divided based on the contribution in the conquest.
With your personal points, you can check the list and obtain whatever you want.
The academies of course, can also use the list.
Even if an academy uses all of its points, they are still counted when the ranking is adjusted.
It is like a vast game. You go, you fight, you conquer, you loot, you exchange and repeat. Your glory will be added to the affiliated organization that you represent and in turn their glory
will raise.
Usually, in regular competitions the academies focus on individuals. Because numbers don't mean much in terms of strength. There quality takes over quantity. But the same cannot be
said about this conquest.
Because there is a system of affiliation in place. Every person can mobilize their own forces as long as they are within the acceptable threshold of the world.
So, I am sure you know what that means."
"That means, no matter, how stupid or useless a guy usually is, now he is useful because of his background. He can mobilize forces that can help manage, stabilize and explore these vast new worlds. For all three tasks, where the numbers are actually important."
"Yes.
If they are dead now because of the conflicts hub created, their backgrounds will not be mobilized. The academies will lose out." Sam finished her thoughts.
He sighed and collapsed into his chair.
"Cough, Cough" Dove suddenly fake coughed attracting his attention, as he seemed to have
lost himself.
"What?"
"Well, since I did you a favor, I..."
"What do you want?"
"Wine."
Sam rolled his eyes and threw her a bottle before he left. He didn't expect the conquest of restricted words has this much at stake. No wonder the academies didn't move. This is way too big of a deal. And he realized that Ling Tian is right.
He didn't have to worry about being safe at all.
He could have easily slipped through the restricted world and stayed there comfortably for a long time. Five years is a shit ton of time to do a lot of stuff.
And he also realized that he could have had a bigger chance to incite chaos. Once the rewards and points are pouring in...
The academies will be tense. Strategies, plans, traps, people. All the minds out in the open for him to manipulate. It is a golden opportunity. He can leave every academy out there, licking their wounds, terrified out of everything. And that would be the time to leave the information
out.
When everyone is weak, a lot of people want to raise up above the rest. That would be the time when the actual scum comes afloat and take advantages of the weaknesses that Sam so
graciously provided them.
That would be the time. Ah... that would be the time.
He indeed let this out a bit prematurely. Sam felt a very slight tinge of regret.
However, various other thoughts ran through his mind. He immediately took out his communication device to call Arkiv.
"What's up, Sam? You got another tip about the missions?"
"Nope. Not really. I have something else in mind. I wonder if you will be up for it."
"Whatever you need, man. You don't need to ask. Just tell me and its done."
Sam smiled and said.
"How would like sticking it up to Hou Yi?"
