The machine stopped sending the puppets blindly for the next few hours.
On the other hand Bewulf and his subordinates were tense the whole time. They didn’t know what’s going to happen and when it is going to happen.
It’s like they were sitting on nails.
Bewulf in particular, wanted to pull his freaking hair out and at the same time, wanted to beat the crap out of his son for keeping him in such a state.
He turned to an elder responsible for diplomatic communication and asked.
"What did the others say? How is it going on their end?"
"They didn’t agree to help us out."
"Of course, they wouldn’t. They are trying to gauge what kind of tricks Sam has. They are using as a test to gauge that newcomer’s strength. They wouldn’t move a finger.

After a few hours of processing, the automated destruction unit resumed its operations again. Just to finish this process, it burned a couple of Consummate stage Energy inheritances. A bunch of bird puppets, much larger than any bird puppet they sent before, were sent out.
They were just a little over a dozen of them and they flew to an area nearby to the closest temporary base of Saxons to Sam’s base of operations.
These puppets just occupied a small area, where the beast density is relatively higher. They created a formation, tearing open an entry to the shadow world and let the shadow energy leak out.
Then only a bunch of smaller puppets, much like the previous ones, that targeted several people, flew out and helped the emerged shadows deal with the beasts.
The larger bird puppets, just sustained the entry to shadow world, letting the shadows of the beast stay there.
It is very similar to the massive formation Sam maintained at his base, but instead of capturing and reusing the energy leaking from shadow formation, it was just spread outside, letting it corrupt the surroundings.
A special detecting puppet was sent. It roamed around the formation, measuring the energy parameters and when everything checked out, the unit went back to full drive.
More and more giant bird puppets flew out and they all created formations, within the vicinity of the temporary base. Their primary target are the beast dense areas and converting all beasts into shadows, then they started spreading shadow energy out.
The shadow energy, spread out like black carpet over the grassy plains. It was slow and gradual, and they were far away from the bases themselves, that they didn’t attract too much attention from the base itself.
However, the consummate stage elder in charge of protecting the base, did notice it after a little while. And he didn’t want to take the risk.
He came out of the city, from far away, he threw a ranged attack.
The spear destroyed a formation.
The shadow world opening went chaotic and let out of a storm of corrosive shadow energy out, destroying everything in the surroundings.
The opening was closing out and the shadows were going back in, but it was a very slow process.
Just when the elder was about to target the second formation....
*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*
Several spatial fluctuations coupled with the explosions of spatial energy appeared over the base he was guarding.
The spatial restriction got damaged and several puppets invaded the area, opening up tears to the shadow world.
The consummate cultivator, immediately went back into the city and tried to mend the space, but before he could do that, a couple of shadows already invaded and attacked.
On top of that, the explosions caused significant damage to the barriers.
As he focused on repairing it, another set of large bird puppets came over and restored the shadow formation that the cultivator destroyed.
The shadows kept on spreading.
The consummate cultivator, didn’t know what to do. To make sure that the city is not effected, he has to get out of it and attack the formations.
But the moment he goes out, the city is being attacked again. He could minimize the damage, but there is some damage.
And the outside formations are technically not harming them, so he sent the report back to Bewulf to get his advice.
And Bewulf who heard the whole report, thought the same.
"Tell him to keep observing. It wouldn’t be too late to destroy them later."
And that was their biggest mistake.
Because while on the surface, the shadow formations were acting up, underneath the surface, they had a different purpose.
The large bird puppets, discreetly deployed some metal spheres into the formation. They went beyond the shadow gate, and started digging the ground underneath, and they left behind several small metallic orbs that were charged with shadow energy.
These small channels spread a lot faster than the shadow energy leaked by the formation.
And these small orbs, connected with the shadow energy leaking from the formation, creating the shadow energy channels, that were so insignificant compared to the formation.
But as they spread out, soon the channels from all formations connected.
Then, the energy wasn’t as insignificant anymore.
*SWOOSH*
A massive shadow energy curtain formed with the original shadow formations as the nodes.
The large bird puppets moved away, but the formation didn’t disperse. Before anyone, even the consummate cultivator could make sense, the shadow energy exploded, flooding toward the city. It only stopped right outside of the city, because it failed to go past the city’s barrier.
The shadow energy leaked corrupting the barrier.
And everything, for miles around the city, it was completely the portal to the shadow world. All the shadows that were kept intact, were charging towards the city.
