Chapter 113 - Loophole Part2

This chapter is updated by NovelFree.ml

Inside the 3-star hotel lobby, closely clustered around, the survivors were sound asleep. Many of them had managed to somewhat relax and fall into a slumber after the burdens of the day finally settled in.

But all of a sudden…

Awooooo! Awoo. Awooo!!!

A loud ear-piercing howl resounded in the middle of this silent night, waking everybody up instantly.

"What happened?"

"Ah!!!"

"Save me!!"

"Why are you shouting?"

People shuddered in fear subconsciously, having forgotten Qin Hua's existence because of their sleepy state.

But the reality struck them soon like a big whopping hammer right on top of their heads!

.

The events of the previous day, the new world, and their indomitable guardian beast all flooded into their tired brain at the same time.

However, before they could recover from this stupor…

Before they could process the painful recollection of their present cruel reality compared to whatever dreamland or nightmarish world they had probably been sleeping in…

Dull buzzing noises began to fill and echo in the silent hotel lobby.

Small black insects started filtering into the hotel lobby through the various holes and gaps in the buildings.

Their sizes were only slightly bigger than the normal smaller insects, each about the size of a swollen honey bee, but their bites nevertheless pricked.

All the survivors immediately paled as this was not the first time they had encountered something like this. Not one person was able to keep their calm and remain stable.

Their bodies shivered and trembled and tears streamed down their eyes.

It was as if they were all broken vases that were only being held by a very thin layer of glue and would shatter at any given instant if even the tiniest bit went wrong.

These were just small insects and unlike Qin Hua, these people were not being completely swarmed just yet as everything couldn't burrow into the building lobby at the same time.

So they still had time and if they put effort, they could keep clearing these insects not allowing even anything to bite them in the first place.

But unfortunately, they were completely frozen and helpless. The trauma was still very fresh in their minds and how could this kind of PTSD be overcome in a single night?

Shrills cries and loud mindless screams echoed in the lobby and Lu Chen clenched his fists, his eyes hurriedly darting here and there.

His hands were projected out like they were machine guns and from within his palms, rapid ice shards flew at a terrifying pace.

In the beginning, he was able to wipe out the first wave of the bugs that had wandered in, but he simply couldn't keep up with their numbers which were slowly rising.

Even with Qin Hua's dual pendants hanging around his neck and the goblin leader's bedazzled staff, his mana was quickly running dry, sucking both his stamina and his mental energy as well.

Alex, Guan Ye, Xu Meilin, and Luo Zu, all of them, were also doing their best, but unlike Lu Chen, they lacked AOE skills, skills that affected massive areas at the same time, and their efficiency at dealing with the insects was not that great.

Within seconds, even as they were waving their daggers around, they were all bitten in multiple spots and their bodies started to feel weak and drained.

Now they understood what the other group had faced when they had fallen so helplessly to the goblin army. The swarm itself was dreadful and if they somehow manage to survive this, there was no doubt that they would inevitably be left weak and vulnerable.

"Cover the entrance. More numbers are coming in through the gaps in the door." Lu Chen shouted.

"There is more coming in from this side!" Alex shouted.

"There is more coming in from this side too!" Guan Ye solemnly added.

No matter what they did, they seemed to be no method to this madness. The survivors buried their heads in the mattress, covered themselves in blankets but nothing helped.

Most of them were too shaken to even do anything and they were still sitting frozen in the same spot with a blank look on their faces.

A few women started crying and loudly saying their prayers.

The one elder who had managed to survive hugged his young granddaughter and lamented their fate.

Bing Che was on the far corner of the hotel lobby, his back leaning against the wall and his body and his amputated legs resting uncomfortably on the ground.

He managed to pull himself up and was waving his dagger tightly clutched in his hands, as fast as he could making use of his extremely high agility.

He was single handedly bringing the numbers down by dozens after dozens as he perfectly counteracted the deadly speed of the small insects, but there was only so much he could do as he lacked his lower half of the body to move more freely.

Eventually, he was also bitten and his stamina and his speed trickled down like water from a bucket with a hole.

In the midst of this commotion, one person just couldn't stand the stress and the mental torture anymore and yelled loudly before slashing his own throat with the dagger in his hand.

Xiao Ming who was near Alex wailed loudly on seeing this. It looked like she knew the person who had just committed suicide to solely escape from this horrendous reality.

She trembled and cried, her body shivering even more as she madly waved her dagger around. She was not even hitting anything but just continued mindlessly struggling.

Alex flinched on seeing her in such a miserable state. This was the same woman who had only now, a couple of hours earlier, been so brave. She hadn't hesitated and had killed the zombie smoothly. However, this same person had lost all semblances of sanity now.

Alex shuddered. She couldn't help but wonder if this was the same fate that was waiting for all of them in the end. The army of the goblins, and now this insect swarm… one after the other, there were perhaps only more and more dangers lying in wait for them down the road.

Her gaze wandered over to the small mana core with the tinge of the violet shade silently lying inside the zombie's head in the corner.
