We had some great ones! A big thank you to everyone who participated. I'll link the Forum below (can't do it in the main text for some reason,) and I encourage everyone to go check it out. Amazing, amazing stuff. I'm posting the five winners here. No ranking, these are all amazing and some tough choices had to be made. If you made the winner's circle, please keep an eye on your Roya Road DM's, as I will be sending you your ARC link directly. Now then. To the art!
The first one is the only sculpture entry. And what an entry! I'm not going to post the whole thing here, but the artist created a whole story over a series of picutres using the models he created. Love it, love the creativity. Let's have a big hand for Rhydeble!
On to the drawn art, and here is where it gets tough. Can I just say, as an author, how touched I am by the way people really responded to the more spiritual aspects of the story? It's really cool to know that you can write something that pushes the edges of what the genre usually allows, and still find sucess. Of the several excellent pictures in that line, my favorite was this wonderful picture from ofsnowyclouds. Who claims it's not finished, but as unfinished pieces go, it's damn fantastic!
Changing pace a bit, we have Crow Muse who did this incredibly detailed, intricate picture of the opening scene of Vol. 1. A really tough one to illustrate, and I think the picture turned out great. Well done.
Next, we have one that could be a poster, and might yet be the inspiration for one- young Tian reaching up to pinch the sun, courtesy of Indocile Seal! What a composition!
Last, but definately not least is a fantastic ink wash picture of the Temple, by MichalPatryk. I really enjoyed the ancient feel of it.
A few honorable mentions, pieces that I went back and forth on, but for one reason or another just got edged out.
From frequent commenter Iridescent Wings, we have one of my favorites:
Moosefrog was the only one to attempt an action scene, and I think he did an outstanding job capturing the motion and fluidity of the fight.
And finally, we have a very interesting piece from SundialSix, who made a very unique polygonal take on one of the book covers. Quite creative, and certainly unique!
A big thank you to everyone who participated, and for those of you who didn't get chosen, or couldn't complete your picture in time, I encourage you to keep at it. I'd like to run this contest again when Vol. 2 comes out!
