Chapter 4093: The Tianyuan Is Mine To Defend

Both the Nest civilization’s humanoid Verdant Sage and the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage had been injured during the previous war against humanity, and the swarms of insects had been almost entirely annihilated. By all logic, there was no reason for the insects to return so soon.

Despite that, the droplet creature was right there.

It did not attack, and yet its mere presence caused Ku Deng’s heart to drop. As for the spectating Greater Sancte Green Lotus and Lu Yin, they experienced the exact same reaction.

The Nest civilization had been observing their civilization all along.

This was why Awe Gate had been asked to support Ku Deng. Humanity still did not know the full depths of Immortal giant snail’s strength, but it was clear that a newly ascended Immortal like Ku Deng was at a disadvantage. With another enemy Immortal appearing, how could Ku Deng hope to hold out?

“Plans have changed. Do nothing for now.” Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s voice reached Lu Yin’s ears.

He inhaled deeply. “I understand.”

The sudden appearance of the Nest civilization involved more than just a few more Immortals arriving. It indicated a qualitative shift in the war. Luo Chan’s ability could dictate the entire course of the war.

As long as Luo Chan remained alive, both the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and the Tianyuan needed a powerhouse who possessed overwhelming strength to be present.

Months passed, and yet the war past the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm was still raging. Ku Deng continued to fight against the Immortal giant snail, though both were holding back. They were wary of the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage, though the bug merely watched. It never advanced or retreated even the slightest bit.

Lu Yin understood what was happening. The Nest civilization was trying to force more human Immortals to reinforce them in the battle against the giant snails. It was a simple objective; lure away Immortals so that the Nest could freely attack the Nine Odysseys Megaverse or the Tianyuan.

If Lu Yin were in the position of the Immortal Lord, there was no question that he would target the Tianyuan.

To begin with, the Tianyuan was at the opposite end of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm compared to the battlefield where humanity was fighting against the snails. On top of that, the Tianyuan was not protected by an ultimate powerhouse. No matter his strength, Lu Yin was not actually an Immortal.

Finally, it was necessary to take Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s presence into account.

On the mountain behind the Heavens Sect, Lu Yin’s expression turned grave. The flames of war would inevitably reach the Tianyuan. If his guess was right, that moment would be when Awe Gate arrived at the battlefield beyond the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

The only thing that he could do in the time being was to fortify their defenses.

He released his Karmic Dao and merged it with the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. “Senior, would you allow me to erect a karmic wall to protect the Tianyuan?”

Doing so would require him to rely on Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s karma, as Lu Yin lacked enough karma for such an expensive task.

“I’ll allow it,” Greater Sancte Green Lotus answered without giving the request a second thought.

The Immortal’s contemplations had matched Lu Yin’s, but they had also continued even further. “Lu Yin, you may well end up facing more than one Immortal. Are you confident?”

Lu Yin answered wryly, “Confident? Not at all. I can only fight to the death.”

Greater Sancte Green Lotus drew in a deep breath. “We have entered the sights of both the Nest civilization and Obscura. If humanity can overcome this calamity, we will surely need to shed some skin. Fight, as we will all be fighting as well.”

From the mountain behind the Heavens Sect, Lu Yin continued to join his Karmic Dao with the Tianyuan’s karma and connect that to the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm so that he could erect a karmic wall for the Tianyuan.

He had more than half a year to work on it, which was enough.

After several months passed, Master Qing Cao suddenly arrived at the mountain, appearing before Lu Yin.

He had already finished erecting the karmic wall. Unlike the urgency of the previous time, relying on the Tianyuan’s karma meant that Lu Yin had only consumed a bit of his own, and yet the karmic wall was even sturdier than before.

“What happened?” Master Qing Cao asked.

Sitting at the stone table, Lu Yin casually replied, “I had thought that you wouldn’t show yourself again, Senior.”

Master Qing Cao looked up at the sky. “There have been frequent stirrings of karma of late. Is the Nine Odysseys Megaverse at war again?”

Lu Yin nodded. “Which side will you support? The civilization sent by Obscura to wipe out humanity, the Nest civilization, or us humans?”

Master Qing Cao was surprised. “Are there three civilizations involved?”

Lu Yin’s voice dropped low. “Possibly more.”

He looked up to stare intently at Master Qing Cao. “This may well be humanity’s darkest hour. We are already aware of four enemy Immortals who will join this war.”

Master Qing Cao frowned. “Is that including Obscura?”

“No.”

“Where have so many come from?”

“Does your agreement with Obscura make any mention of ensuring the continuation of humanity? The Spirit Nidus’s preservation? Or does it merely state that Obscura won’t strike the Spirit Nidus?”

Master Qing Cao fell silent, unsure of how he should answer.

Lu Yin had considered matters from Master Qing Cao’s perspective. To some degree, the man could not be blamed. Compared to Lu Yin’s, Master Qing Cao’s path had been far more difficult.

Comprehending karma had allowed Lu Yin to soar in the Nine Odysseys megaverse. When he wanted to kill Yue Ya, Greater Sancte Green Lotus had delivered the man to Lu Yin. When Lu Yin wanted to see a megaverse’s reset, the Great Master had granted him an opportunity. He had received everything that he sought.

Master Qing Cao had walked a different path. He had always been alone, with no one to help him. He had been left to protect the Spirit Nidus on his own.

Not only that, but the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had also been plundering the Spirit Nidus’s resources for countless eras.

Lu Yin had not lived Qing Cao’s life, nor did he know the man’s perspective. Thus, Lu Yin refrained from casting judgment. Lu Yin’s own thoughts always considered the Tianyuan’s protection first, which was of little use to Master Qing Cao.

However, at this moment, humanity did not only face Obscura. There were also the giant snails, any other civilizations that Obscura might push over, and the Nest civilization.

Other civilizations would not spare the Spirit Nidus.

Master Qing Cao left without saying another word. Lu Yin was unable to interfere with the man’s choices.

Still, Lu Yin had never placed his hopes on others.

The Tianyuan Is mine to defend

Beyond the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, the battle between the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s cultivators and the giant snails raged on. One day, Awe Gate finally arrived.

Ku Deng, who had constantly remained wary of the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage, immediately went all out against the Immortal snail. They had finally learned the name of that civilization: the Tricolor Skyborne.

The Immortal among the Skyborne was known as Kang Tian.

Kang Tian meant “bearing the heavens.” For the Skyborne, those heavens were the shells on their backs, capable of devouring and releasing space. That shell was the beginning and end of every Skyborne creature.

Awe Gate struck with earth-shattering force, unleashing nineteen rifts, which was even more than the eighteen that Ku Deng was capable of unleashing. The Immortal snail was astonished by the power.

It automatically assumed that the human civilization specialized in Heartrift.

“Kang Tian, be careful. That human’s forte is not this power,” the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage warned. It was extremely wary of Awe Gate.

When fighting against foreign civilizations, Awe Gate used Heartrift power the most often, but before she went to the Mindscape Megaverse’s Deep Rift Universe, she had already been one of the most powerful individuals in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. She had created a list of the most powerful individuals, and she had even endured an attack from Greater Sancte Blood Tower. That strength had nothing to do with Heartrift power.

Few had ever seen Awe Gate’s full power, but during an earlier fight, when the humanoid Verdant Sage had pulled the woman into a card, the power that she revealed had not been Heartrift power. Even so, she had fought the two insect Immortals to a draw.

That was Awe Gate’s true combat power, while Heartrift power merely improved her strength.

The warning caused Kang Tian’s eyes that protruded from its antennas and swivel around to face the droplet-shaped Verdant Sage. “Since you are an enemy of this civilization, why do you not aid me?”

The droplet creature did not bother to answer. The humanoid Verdant Sage abruptly appeared beside it, startling Kang Tian. There was yet another immortal, seemingly from a different civilization.

“By standing here, I am helping you,” the droplet creature stated.

The humanoid Verdant Sage at the side was staring at the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. “Human civilization, I’m curious. Which battlefront will you actually be able to hold?”

With that, the bug vanished.

The Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm shuddered. Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s eyes flared wide as he pressed down with his karma. There was a boom, and all the megaverses of human civilization heard the thunderous roar.

Between the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and the Tianyuan, the humanoid Verdant Sage stumbled in the Aevum Inch while coughing up blood. Beneath them, Luo Chan was trembling. “We won’t die, will we, Master?”

The humanoid Verdant Sage wiped the blood from their lips. “This human’s karma is terrifying, but it’s not enough to crush me. If it comes down to it, the true body will take action. Continue.”

Luo Chan was afraid, yet it still carried the humanoid Verdant Sage away. When the two reappeared, they were just outside the Tianyuan.

The Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm thundered again as Greater Sancte Green Lotus looked across it, suppressing all creatures within his karma. Even so, the humanoid Verdant Sage was an Immortal, and they could not be easily dealt with.

Not only that, but during Green Lotus’s second attack, he also sensed a faint bit of danger approaching the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm from a different direction. Unless he guessed wrong, that was likely the Immortal Lord.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus peered into the distance. He had a decidedly bad feeling about the Immortal Lord. The reason why the Nest civilization had the courage to try to erase every civilization that they approached was ultimately due to their reliance on their Immortal Lord. Clearly, that individual was no ordinary Immortal.

Lu Yin, it falls to you to protect the Tianyuan.

Outside the Tianyuan, Luo Chan stared upwards, already able to breathe easier. A third attack had not come.

The humanoid Verdant Sage stared at the Tianyuan, focusing on a black speck up ahead. Lu Yin was standing in front of the megaverse.

The Immortal and Lu Yin faced each other across a vast expanse of space.

“Are you the master of this megaverse?”

“Correct. What is your relationship with the Immortal Lord?”

“I am the Immortal Lord.”

“A clone?”

“You could say that. You are able to defeat Immortals, which makes you deserving of my respect. Human, your name is Lu Yin, yes?”

Lu Yin stared at the humanoid bug. “You destroyed the Third Rampart.”

The creature nodded. “I did. Next, I will destroy the megaverse behind you.”

“Is there nothing that can be said?” Lu Yin asked.

The Verdant Sage smiled. “Are you stalling?”

Lu Yin shook his head and let out a long breath. “No, there’s no need for that. No one can help me right now. We are facing too many enemies.”

The Immortal stared at Lu Yin. “We don’t need to be enemies.”

“What are you saying?”

“Join my civilization, and I can guarantee your survival.”

Lu Yin smiled. “I agree.”

The Verdant Sage was startled by the response. So fast?

Luo Chan was similarly taken aback. “Master, I’ve heard responses like this before. Another human from this megaverse gave the same answer.”

It called out, “Human, do all of you like saying such things?”

When Lu Yin glanced at Luo Chan, killing intent blossomed in his eyes. “Luo Chan, you’d best not let me catch you. Otherwise, you’ll learn what it means to wish for death.”

Luo Chan fell silent. Compared to Chang, Unbroken Time, and the other Insect Lords, Luo Chan was much more cautious. This was especially during wartime. While it was capable of ambushing top powerhouses, Luo Chan preferred to go after easier targets. It was unwilling to take risks.

Lu Yin’s attention returned to the Immortal bug. “You were injured by Awe Gate. How did you recover so soon?”
