Why was everyone that he had once told fortunes for reappearing before him? Was it karma? Destiny?

Lu Yin sat on the chair on the raft, staring at the flowing water while wondering why things had turned out like this.

There was no trace of karma, that was clear to him. Not even Greater Sancte Green Lotus could covertly manipulate karma at this scale before Lu Yin anymore. He was no longer who he had once been, so why was this still happening?

Karma, karma The Tianyuan Megaverse had its own karma, and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had its own as well. Time continued to flow like the river, never ceasing.

In the blink of an eye, several more years had passed. A full twenty years had passed since Lu Yin had stepped onto the small bamboo raft and started drifting down the river. There was only a bit more than a decade left before he was to leave in search for the Seven-Treasure Anura Immortals.

Initially, the years had not been easy. Lu Yin had repeatedly tried to find an explanation for the repeated encounters with his old acquaintances, only to later come to terms with it. It was much like how Greater Sancte Blood Tower had tried to touch the main stream of the River of Aeons; even if an overarching karmic dao existed above everything, Lu Yin could not explain it as he lacked the qualification to touch it.

Since that was the case, he should not overthink things.

He needed to continue building the wall in his heart. Perhaps one day he would be able to explain things.

One day, Lu Yin suddenly felt something within himself. He turned to look up at the Mother Trees canopy, an image surfacing in his mind: red clothes and eyes behind a question: Are all Immortals without emotions?

Honger had asked him that question. Lu Yin had forgotten about it, only to suddenly remember it.

Such a sudden thought would not arise without cause. It had to be connected to his mental state.

He sighed and took a single step, reappearing in the Sea of Karma, seeking an audience with Greater Sancte Green Lotus. Senior, has Honger been released?

Green Lotus did not understand why Lu Yin was suddenly asking about Honger. Why are you asking about her?

Green Lotus gave a wry laugh. Its been more than a hundred years. She was released long ago.

Lu Yin nodded. Just as he was about to leave, something else occurred to him. He looked back at the Greater Sancte. Senior, do you truly not know why Honger asked that question?

Greater Sancte Green Lotus replied, That is why you should ask her yourself.

It seems that this junior cant learn anything in such a manner.

Then you need not concern yourself with her.

I cannot ignore this. Over these recent years, this junior has developed a problem with my state of mind, and it seems related to that particular question: are all Immortals void of emotions?

These words caused the Greater Sanctes expression to change, and he observed Lu Yin closely. A problem in your state of mind?

A flaw in ones mental state was no small matter. Lu Yin nodded. He helplessly answered, I have continued to consider that one question, to the point where my mental state has gone awry. Thats why I purposely came here. Had it been nothing more than mere curiosity, I would have come long ago, rather than waiting until now.

Green Lotuss expression darkened. One sentence left Awe Gate dissatisfied, and it has even disrupted your state of mind. I truly should not have taken her in.

Lu Yin did not understand what had happened. According to his previous understanding of the matter, Honger had once carried a portion of Qi Xus emotions, which had helped conceal Qi Xus death, which could be considered of great help to their human civilization. However, judging by Greater Sancte Green Lotuss reaction, there was clearly something amiss.

Was it truly possible for Green Lotus to not know why Honger had asked that question? Naturally, that was impossible, and yet he had still told Lu Yin to ask Honger directly. Lu Yin knew that he would not learn anything by doing so, which was why he had revealed the issue with his mental state.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus stared across the Sea of Karma, his gaze complex.

The Sea of Karma was vast, and there were numerous dwellings dotted about within it. Many of them belonged to Green Lotuss disciples, such as Ming Zhuo and Jing Lian. Naturally, the Seven Fairies also had residences present.

Lu Yin easily found Hongers dwelling. Red leaves filled the area as far as he could see. It might easily have been mistaken for Qiunan Hongyes home.

Miss Honger, Lu Yin requests an audience.

Within the depths of the red leaves, Honger opened her eyes, her expression calm. What matter brings you here, Mr. Lu?

May I come in?

Honger is in seclusion. If our matter is not urgent, please take your leave.

Clad in her red dress, the woman did not stand out within the grove of red leaves.

Lu Yin observed the woman. Why did you ask that question?

Honger countered, Did you come here to provide an answer, or to ask your own questions?

Both to answer your question and to ask one.

Honger shook her head. Then Honger must be rude. Please leave, Mr. Lu.

In my view, Immortals are not heartless. If they were, I could not have reached my current level, and both the Tianyuan Megaverse and the Spirit Nidus would have ceased to exist long ago. That is my answer, Lu Yin said.

Honger lowered her head, staring at the red leaves that had fallen upon the ground, their color as glaring as fresh blood. Throughout all these years of war, with so many dead, have you ever felt guilt?

Lu Yin frowned. Those who fight for gains must bear personal responsibility, but in a war between civilizations, not a single drop of blood is shed in vain. There is no need for me to feel guilt for those who died in battle. If I myself one day die, it will be for the continuation of our human civilization, for its inheritance. I wouldnt need those who lived on to feel guilt.

Is that what you refer to when asking if Immortals are without emotions?

Hong'er looked back up. "If it were not a war between civilizations, and we surrendered, then do you think that that's emotionless?"

After speaking, her face grew pale and she closed her eyes. She seemed to be waiting for something.

Lu Yin stared at the woman. Speak clearly.

Honger waited for a moment, yet nothing happened. When she reopened her eyes, they betrayed a bit of both surprise and confusion.

What were you waiting for? For Senior Greater Sancte Green Lotus to interfere? He wont interfere anymore, Lu Yin said calmly.

Honger stared at Lu Yin. He wont interfere?

Lu Yin met her gaze. Just who are you?

Honger let out a long breath. As expected, Mr Lu. I believed that certain words could never be spoken. Only you could have changed my masters mind.

Mr. Lu, let me ask you, are all Immortals without emotions?

Lu Yins eyes flared. I have already given you my answer. Everyone has their own thoughts, and your perspective is not the only answer. I offered you mine, so you must give me yours.

You do not understand, Mr. Lu. You have not seen clearly, Honger replied.

Lu Yin grew furious, and pressure instantly fell upon the area. The entire Sea of Karma shuddered, and Honger grew pale. The universe shook, and while the woman herself did not fall, that was only because Lu Yin did not allow that to happen. In that moment, what she endured was no less than anyone who had ever been crushed by Lu Yin.

The world spun around her. The feeling of being oppressed by the entire universe left her breathless and reeling in despair.

Lu Yin spoke in a low voice filled with command. Do not play this game with me! Qing Cao cloaked himself in mystery again and again in an attempt to force me to see the cosmos clearly. He is an Immortal and has the qualifications to do so; what gives you that same right? Do you believe that you see clearly? What you know and perceive is nothing more than the narrow vision available to you at your level.

You are wasting my time and my efforts. For the sake of Senior Green Lotuss sake I have endured your question. Answer me now! Who are you? Not everyone is qualified to bandy words with me!

Lu Yin had only just managed to suppress the confusion that had been stirred up after seeing Yuan Huo and the others from his past, only for Hongers words to yet again pull at the flaws in his mental state. This was a serious matter. If he could not resolve things here, he did not know how his path would unfold in the future.

Greater Sancte Green Lotus also understood the gravity of the situation, which was why he had allowed Lu Yin to question Honger freely.

Lu Yin refused to waste time. He needed to understand the true meaning behind Hongers question and why her words were able to agitate his mental state.

In the distance, Greater Sancte Green Lotus stood with his hands behind his back, staring at the red leaf grove.

Once a person reached a certain level, their behavior would change.

Given Lu Yins current strength, if he was to face Qing Cao again, not even that Immortal would retain the qualifications to stay mysterious, let alone Honger.

In the red leaf grove, Honger suffered Lu Yins pressure, her teeth clenched. She stared at him until her vision blurred. I I am Crimson Starshade.

The pressure instantly vanished.

When he first heard of Crimson Starshade, he had thought of Honger, and yet Greater Sancte Green Lotus had denied the connection. Instead, he had claimed that Honger was not even human, let alone a part of that human civilization.

Because of the Greater Sanctes words, Lu Yin had not pursued the matter any further.

He could have seen the truth of whether Honger was human or not, but doing so would have been far too rude to Green Lotus, yet everything would have been instantly exposed.

Lu Yin had already fallen into trouble with the Seven Fairies because of the lotus pond incident, and Green Lotus and the others were keeping an eye on him. There was no reason for him to do anything further.

Despite not having seen Honger frequently, every time Lu Yin met with the woman, her gaze had captured his attention. They were constantly searching, as if she wished to see through Lu Yin. At the same time, there was also an unease and wariness in her eyes. Most of all, there was sorrow.
