Chapter 4240: Longevity Civilization

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Lu Yin felt relieved. This was the entire reason why humanity had helped the Seven-Treasure Anuras all along. With the toads joining their human civilization, it meant gaining another three Immortals and an Aberrant. Of the Immortals, Lu Yin had personally seen Old Firsts power, and he knew that the toad was overwhelmingly strong since he resonated with two cosmic laws.

If Greater Sancte Green Lotus had kept some of his strength concealed, then he might rival Old First at best. If the Greater Sancte had nothing hidden, it meant that he only resonated with a single cosmic law, and his strength might not be a match for Old Firsts.

Old Firsts presence could be considered a powerful foundation for the human civilization.

With the Seven-Treasure Anuras included, the human civilization currently had more than ten Immortals.

That was a frightening number. Lu Yin estimated that humanity possessed the same overall power as a typical fishing civilization. At its peak, the Blacklight Civilization had consisted of about ten Immortals. If not for Ancestor Shans overwhelmingly terrifying strength that had allowed the toad to annihilate all of the Blacklight Civilizations experts, the Seven-Treasure Anuras would have been defeated during that first war.

Even so, Ancestor Shan had been ruined by that war. Their karmic chain had been almost fully completed as a result, which had prevented the toad from ever being able to take action again. It had very nearly been mutual destruction.

What made fishing civilizations so terrifying was that, if their absolute means could be passed down, they could easily rise back to power. If not for Lu Yin and Mister Mus help, Ancestor Shan would have never had a chance to act, and the Seven-Treasure Anuras would have been finished.

That proved the resilience of the Blacklight Civilization.

No fishing civilization could ever be underestimated.

Although their human civilization had gained a great number of Immortals, they still lacked an inheritance that could allow them to rise back up from utter destruction.

Teleportation could not yet be considered an inheritance. If Lu Yin was killed, the Lu family as a whole would struggle to endure. Even if the family did survive, only on rare occasions were any descendants born with the innate gift of teleportation. Hoping that any of those few would reach Lu Yins level was practically impossible.

This was not the absolute means of a fishing civilization. If the human civilization collapsed, it would be nearly impossible for them to regain their current strength.

This was the difference between the human civilization and a true fishing civilization.

The human civilization had gained the strength of a fishing civilization, but not the inheritance of one.

After taking one last look at the Blacklight Civilizations megaverse that was in the process of being reset, Lu Yin teleported away with Old First and the others. It happened again and again, as they returned to the human civilization

Halfway through their journey, Lu Yin suddenly remembered the Seal-Eater Civilization and the coordinates that he had received from Obscura. It seemed that their megaverse was also in this direction.

It was a civilization with at least five Immortals. While it was not the Blacklight Civilizations equal, the Seal-Eater Civilization boasted an impressive number of Immortals.

Lu Yin quickly stopped and checked his bearings.

Seventh Bro, are we not heading back? Astral Anura asked.

Lu Yin said, I need your help to make a detour. About twenty years in that direction lies a civilization with at least five Immortals. I want to see if they pose a threat to us.

Old First looked ahead. Five Immortals? That is quite a few. We should take a look. Old Fourth, lead the way.

Alright. With that, Old Fourths body enlarged enough for Lu Yin and the others to climb on, and then the toad leapt forward in the direction that Lu Yin had indicated.

Their path branched off halfway between the Seven-Treasure Anuras original home and the Blacklight Civilizations megaverse. Since Lu Yin was able to teleport, he only needed to account for the time needed to reach their destination. They could return through teleportation, which was fast enough to make the travel time negligible.

Twenty years was not long. They could afford the detour.

No matter what, five Immortals could not be ignored.

The Seal-Eater Civilization had also entered Obscuras attention.

When it came to their overall number of Immortals, the Seal-Eater Civilization surpassed the human civilizations recent past.

Twenty years of travel was a very brief time in the Aevum Inch, and it passed quickly.

Lu Yin and the others saw a megaverse, but unlike when they had approached the Blacklight Civilization, they needed to slowly move closer this time. Who knew how strong the Seal-Eater Civilization might be?

For their destruction to warrant a three-star mission from Obscura suggested that the civilization was roughly as strong as the past human civilization, but caution was still necessary.

Before long, they saw the Seal-Eater Civilization, and the expressions of Lu Yin and the toads grew strange.

How should they describe what they saw? It was a civilization with no unified form.

There were a variety of species in the megaverse, forming a very eclectic civilization. The auras of Immortals were detected by Old First. His strength meant that he could detect the Seal-Eater Civilizations Immortals, but those Immortals could not sense the toad.

Theyre not a singular species, Old First said, puzzled.

Lu Yin was similarly surprised. Are even their Immortals of different species?

This is quite strange. Normally, most Immortals of a given civilization should be part of the same species. Otherwise, how can they prove that they are a single civilization? How could they coexist? And yet, the Immortals that I sense belong to different species. Its very strange, Old First muttered, unable to understand.

Old First had lived for eons. While much younger than Ancestor Shan, he was certainly no younger than Green Lotus, and yet not even Old First had ever seen such a civilization before. Lu Yin instantly grew wary.

How many Immortals do they have?

I sense five.

That matched Lu Yins expectations. It was quite reasonable for a three-star mission to have five Immortals.

Still, the Seal-Eater Civilization was clearly unusual. Lu Yin decided not to investigate things any further and instead return to the human civilization.

Regardless, he had no intention of completing his mission.

Searching for the megaverse had been a slow process, but returning was quick. Soon, Lu Yin delivered Old First and the others to the human megaverses.

Old First made a point to greet Green Lotus before continuing on to the Consciousness Megaverse. At the moment, the person who stood at the very peak of this human civilization was Greater Sancte Green Lotus.

Green Lotus was also the only being here that Old First felt any wariness toward.

After sending off the Seven-Treasure Anuras, Lu Yin resumed building the wall of his heart.

The destruction of the Blacklight Civilization had revealed to Lu Yin that a wall consisted of both light and dark sides. Where there was white, there was also black. Where there was light, there was darkness. It was an unchanging law. Thus, he plced slaughter and the cruel conquests of civilization into the black bricks.

Human emotions were peculiar. Sentimentality, indifference, affection, and cruelty were all emotions. No one could ever lean entirely toward a single one. The most unrestrained were the loneliest; the most vicious were the most pitiable; the most kind were the most deluded. Black and white reversed into one another, and every law ultimately formed a circle.

Lu Yin was no exception to this rule.

When humanity had nowhere to be placed, the heart would fall into confusion. Now, Lu Yin placed his humanity within that wall, and in doing so, he also anchored his heart.

Another year passed before Green Lotus suddenly reached out to Lu Yin. Greater Sancte Awe Gate was looking for him.

Lu Yin arrived in the Sea of Karma to find Greater Sancti Green Lotus, Awe Gate, and Blood Tower all present.

Bring Mister Mu and City Lord Jiang here as well. There are some matters that they should also be made aware of, Green Lotus stated.

Lu Yin nodded and immediately left to fetch Mister Mu and Uncle Jiang.

This time, Awe Gate was the one summoning everyone. It seemed related to the civilization with the Jumping Line of Sight.

This was what Lu Yin had been waiting for.

Although the Jumping Line of Sight had its drawbacks, it could be useful at critical moments.

Since Lu Yin already knows about the Jumping Line of Sight, I will not elaborate any further. All you need to understand is that it is an ability that allows one to see extremely far, to the point where the distance cannot even be measured. It is an ability similar to an innate gift. In order to obtain this ability, we must go to the Longevity Civilization.

Lu Yin was caught off guard. Longevity Civilization? The name alone contained power.

A civilization with the word longevity in its name was enough to make anyone wary.

Awe Gate spoke in a low voice, slowly recounting her past. She shared what had happened during the 1,000 years after she emerged from the depths of the Mindscape Megaverse.

1,000 years was not very long for cultivators. Excluding his time in his Timestop Space and the Mirari Realm, Lu Yin had cultivated for a little more than a thousand years himself. Within the Aevum Inch, even a casual journey could easily take 100, 1,000, or even 10,000 years.

This was why no one had ever been able to guess what might have happened to Awe Gate in just 1,000 years.

As she continued her story, they began to understand.

1,000 years was truly not enough to travel very far, as that time had to account for both the journey from and back to the human territory. In theory, the farthest that she could have gone was a distance 500 years of traveling away. At the time, she had not even been an Immortal. At best, she had been an Aberrant, and 500 years was not enough time for an Aberrant to travel very far. In fact, it was not even enough time to leave the range of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

And yet Awe Gate had left, and she had traveled to a place unimaginably distant, to the point where she had not even known which direction her human civilization was located in. This had happened entirely because of an astral phenomenon known as the Meteor Realm.

The Meteor Realm was the name that Awe Gate had given to the astral phenomenon. It was possible that other civilizations called it something else.

The so-called Meteor Realm allowed a portion of space itself to travel across the Aevum Inch like a meteor, connecting two unfamiliar regions in a way that ignored distance and location. It was essentially a passage that allowed for teleportation. In fact, it functioned very much like Obscuras gates.

Awe Gate had accidentally been pulled into the Meteor Realm and carried to another region of the Aevum Inch where she had encountered the Longevity Civilization. That was also where she had conceived Qing Yun.

Everyone listened in silence. Even Green Lotus had never known about Qing Yun's origin, but at this moment, the truth was made clear.

The Meteor Realm appears roughly once every 800 years. I stayed in the Longevity Civilization for nearly that long. Before it reappeared, I gave birth to Qing Yun. However, she was expected to stay there, while I was cast out since I was from a foreign civilization.

I could not accept that, Greater Sancte Awe Gate continued, her eyes sharp as her battle intent rose. Qing Yun is my child, and I would allow no one to take her from me! So I went through the Meteor Realm to reach yet another region. There, after several grueling years, I successfully forced my way into the Immortal realm. My time in the depths of the Mindscape Megaverse had perfected my mental state, but I had lacked a chance to break through.

Qing Yun being taken became my chance. After breaking through, I secretly returned to the Longevity Civilization via the Meteor Realm. They never imagined that I would return as an Immortal. Naturally, I was only able to secretly sneak in. At the very last moment, right before the Meteor Realm vanished, I took Qing Yun away, leaving the Longevity Civilization without any means of pursuing me.

When she finished, she let out a long breath. The secret had weighed on her for so many years, only to finally be spoken aloud. Releasing it softened her entire bearing.

Blood Tower stared at Awe Gate. Is the Longevity Civilization another human civilization?

Awe Gate shook her head. They resemble humans, but they have green bodies and leaflike patterns across their skin. The biggest difference between us and them is that they lack legs. From the knees down, each one of them has a single vine. Still, at first glance, aside from their skin color, they do look a great deal like us, and their civilization has followed a similar development.

But Qing Yun doesnt have any of the traits of that species, Blood Tower commented.

Everyone else was puzzled by that same thing.

Since Qing Yuns father was a member of the Longevity Civilization, why did Qing Yun have none of their species physical traits, aside from possessing their Jumping Line of Sight?
