Old Man Hehe replied, "You ask, even though you already know. Since you came to Vestigium specifically to ask about this, you clearly already know something."

"I know that the Star Fist destroyed a fishing civilization," Lu Yin said.

"Hehe, Scarlet Devour."

"What?"

"The fishing civilization that was destroyed was known as Scarlet Devour. It was one of the fishing civilizations that once besieged your human Nine Ramparts. If only he could learn a supreme technique that even beings like Old Man Hehe and Ancestor Shan acknowledged as invincible.

It had been more than 100 years since he had last Possessed a creature from Joy City. Lu Yin teleported closer to the Death Megaverse before rolling his die. He wanted to check where Joy City was.

Several dozen days later, he finally saw a ball of light in the dark space. Lu Yin rushed toward it and merged with it.

He opened his eyes. Hm? This isnt Joy City, is it?

There was no thunderous music, nor was there a castle in the distance. Instead, he found himself in a dark underground world. There were strange skeletons before him, as well as a sourcebox array that had spread everywhere.

Memories then flooded in, and Lu Yin quickly understood. He was within a cosmic civilization, as he had accidentally Possessed a skeleton released from a sourcebox by this civilization. The sourcebox had been found in the Aevum Inch, and after being released, the skeleton had escaped. This was the exact same story as Zhu in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.

Not only that, but this skeleton was also doing the same thing as Zhu.

Zhu had created Stillness in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and then gathered numerous sourceboxes so that they could build a sourcebox array that would attract the Death Megaverses attention.

This skeleton was doing the same, and it was even on the verge of success.

It had already gathered nearly all of the most powerful sourceboxes in this megaverse. The civilization had Immortals, but it was still greatly inferior to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. These Immortals had no ability to discover where the skeleton was or what it had been doing.

In truth, if not for Lu Yin, even the Nine Odysseys Megaverse would have had great difficulty in finding Zhu's trail, though it would have been impossible for Zhu to lure the Death Megaverse over with a sourcebox array. Lu Yin had not known it at the time, but he had since come to understand that the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm alone was enough to block any such signal.

This civilization did not have the protection of the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. As soon as this skeleton finished setting up the sourcebox array, it could send a signal to the Death Megaverse and draw its forces over.

Whether this civilization was lucky or not, Lu Yin had just happened to Possess this skeleton.

Without hesitation, he raced out of the underground region, charging straight towards the civilizations Immortals. Then, unsurprisingly, the skeleton was killed.

Before dying, Lu Yin even saw an expression of confusion in the Immortal's eyes. They had searched for the skeleton for a very long time yet never found it. Why had it suddenly approached, seeking death?

Actually, if Lu Yin knew the megaverses location, he would not have taken those actions. After all, the skeleton had gathered many sourceboxes, and this megaverse also had a Mother Tree and Immortals. It was of tremendous value to him.

Unfortunately, since he could not determine its coordinates, he could not allow the skeleton to continue living. Otherwise, what if it sent out a signal and caused Joy City to change directions? He had gone to great effort to lure Joy City into the Divine Realms direction. If Joy City failed to make contact, it would be terrible. Joy City was merely the forces of Mirthless Bone, one of the Death Megaverses Abysses. The Death Megaverse had other Abysses as well, and drawing any of them closer would be a huge problem.

This matter also served as a warning to Lu Yin. Who knew how many civilizations in the Trios surroundings harbored creatures similar to Zhu who wanted to draw the Death Megaverse over? If those creatures were not eliminated, they would always be a hidden danger.

But how could they be dealt with? This was quite the troublesome issue.

He continued rolling his die, and some time later, Lu Yin Possessed a skeleton from Joy City. Memories poured in, and as soon as he learned that Joy City had never changed direction, he felt relieved.

After ending the Possession, Lu Yin headed back to Manifest City. More than 100 years had passed since he sent Tuo Lin in to observe the residents of the city, and it was time to ask what he had learned.

When Lu Yin arrived outside Manifest City, the Immortal stone monster was lying in outer space, utterly bored. It had built a city on a nearby meteorite for itself, which was inhabited by its own species. Of course, there were also humans who lived there, traded there, and did other things.

When the creature saw that Lu Yin had arrived, the stone monster hurried over to him. It did not dare to show even the slightest bit of disrespect toward Lu Yin.

"How is it going?" Lu Yin asked.

The stone monster replied, "Nothing unusual."

"Has Tuo Lin come out?"

"He last came out a few years ago. He usually comes out about once every decade, so it will probably be several more years before he emerges again."

At that moment, a few people exited Manifest City, cursing and grumbling. They were unable to see Lu Yin or the stone monster.

Hearing their curses, Lu Yin frowned. The number of people entering Manifest City needed to be further restricted. Manifest City had changed a great deal from before. The people living in the city had become suspicious and paranoid, mostly due to too many creatures entering their city. Some of those people had broken the rules and revealed themselves. Of course, they had then personally paid the price, but that was not enough to compensate for the effect that their actions had on Lu Yins plan to gain control of Manifest CIty.

Since Tuo Lin had his own opportunity in ManifestCity, others could not be allowed to interfere.

Thinking of this, Lu Yin teleported back to the Tianyuan and gave orders to further restrict the number of people entering Manifest City. Anyone wishing to enter had to be strictly screened. These restrictions would only be lifted after Tuo Lin left Manifest City for good.

Afterward, Lu Yin entered Manifest City himself, transforming into a bird. He flew into the sky and circled the city, continuing to observe it with Willforce while searching for Tuo Lin.

It did not take long to find the man.

At the moment, Tuo Lin was helping others to repair an irrigation channel in the river. He was working so hard that sweat was pouring down his face. There was a rice sprout on his back that tried to shield him from the sun, and Hui Can in his wildcat form lounged in the shade of a nearby tree, looking completely at ease.

Before this, Ive been constantly moving among those people, listening to their conversations to see if I could find anything useful for you, Master, while also guarding against anyone trying to harm my senior brother."

Down in the irrigation channel, Tuo Lin was working hard, bent over as he carried earth on his back. Even so, he had a smile on his face as he chatted with the other workers. When he was tired, he drank water beneath the tree while some other people handed out steamed buns and food. His days were quite busy yet satisfying.

Though he looked to be working very hard, Tuo Lin also seemed to be enjoying himself greatly.

Some tents had been set up a distance from the irrigation channel, and the workers slept there at night.

Before Lu Yin could even move, Hui Can dashed into one of the tents with a sudden sprint. He looked extremely proactive.

Not long afterward, Tuo Lin exited the tent, excitedly running to the big tree. "Master!"

Lu Yin looked at Tuo Lin. "Are you tired?"

"Im not tired, Master. Your disciple has finally understood what those books meant by hard yet fulfilling. This feeling is completely different from cultivation. The struggles of mortals can easily show rewards, while the world of cultivators is differentdanger lies at every step, and what one feels most deeply is not the reward. Your disciple enjoys this kind of life." Tuo Lin was genuinely happy.

Lu Yin smiled in relief. "That is good. Its enough that you are enjoying this kind of life. I dont need you to become towering powerhouses who hold up the megaverses. Its enough for you to happily be yourselves."

Hui Can rolled his eyes, while Tuo Lin grew so excited that his breathing quickened. "Yes, Master! Oh, right, Master, over these years, your disciple has been observing the people here, and I discovered a strange phenomenon."

"Oh? Whats that?" Lu Yin asked quickly.

"Everyone's life here is passed down."

Lu Yin arched a brow. "Passed down?"

He had already learned that everyone in Manifest City lived within their own small portion of the city and that the residents passed things down from one generation to the next. Since each generation had a short lifespan, the fact that they still lived as they did within fixed circles was really a form of inheritance.

But by what Tuo Lin mean by saying that their lives were passed down?

"Your disciple discovered that many people are like a character," Tuo Lin continued.

Lu Yin's eyes flickered. "What character?"

"For example, take the old woman who sells vegetables on East Street. All her life, she has grown vegetables in her own garden that she eats and also sells. She always walks the same road, and it is hard to force her to ever take a detour. That vegetable garden of hers has been passed through the hands of many, many people. But even though the old woman has never married in her entire life, the garden continues on without end.

"Your disciple helped the old woman carry water, and I spoke with her, spending several years with her. Later, when I looked at her again, I saw a character on her: obsession."

"Obsession?"

"Yes, obsession. I dont know why, but when your disciple looks at that old woman, that is the character that comes to mind."
