Lu Yin would first rely on Xiang Siyu's luck and the “luck” characters that Qian Shu had written to overcome this calamity. Even if he suffered a backlash of luck afterward, he could no longer worry about that.
The more he learned about this Keeper of Balance, the more that Lu Yin understood just how terrifying his methods were. It could be said that the survival or destruction of human civilization would be decided 700 years from now. That would very likely be the greatest calamity that Lu Yin had encountered so far.
At the same time, in the Tianyuan, a voice spoke from Skydog's back. "700 more years. Soon. Once everything here is over, I will go find her. Soon. Very soon."
***
No one knew what had happened aside from Lu Yin. Not even the Keeper of Balance knew that Lu Yin had already seen through his plans and was doing everything he could to deal with things in advance.
To scheme, one must first conceal, and only then could one calculate. If the other side already knew, then it was no longer a scheme, but rather a contest.
This was a contest to determine the life or death of this entire human civilization. Lu Yin could not afford to lose and was willing to pay any price. But for the Keeper of Balance, the entire ordeal might be nothing more than a simple act of destruction. He stood atop a mountain, ready to push the boulder down at any moment to bury everything below. However, unknown to him, someone below was also climbing toward him, step by step, following an angle hidden from his sight, concealed behind that very boulder.
And the distance between them was closing.

At the site of Lu Yin's seclusion in the Tianyuan Megaverse, Xiang Siyu witnessed a remarkable scene. She saw a skeleton walk out from Lu Yin's body. She saw a dark power coil around the skeleton. She saw the mountain around her transform into outer space, with one star after another flashing by. One dark star drew close to the skeleton and then merged with it, changing the color of the bones. With this merging, the bones took on the dark and profound color of outer space, as if the entire starry sky had been etched onto the bones.
She stared at Lu Yin. Was this the clone that he had mentioned?
Before going into seclusion, Lu Yin had already told her that one of his clones would appear, and that once it did, he himself would fall asleep. It was just that Xiang Siyu had never expected his clone to actually be a skeleton. Can a skeleton also be a clone?
Lu Yin raised a hand and looked at the arm bone as Stillness from the star in his inner universe fused with it. To accomplish certain things, one had to possess strength. While thinking about how to use the Nine Clones Secret Technique to walk another path, he had also been considering this particular problem. He had considered it while traveling through various cosmic civilizations, and after so much time, he had finally found an answer: he would have a skeleton clone cultivate the Cosmic Art. However, this would be different from the Cosmic Art that he cultivated himself.
The Cosmic Art that he cultivated himself caused stars to revolve outside his body, as if he were standing in outer space.
In contrast, the Cosmic Art that his skeleton clone would cultivate would require no such multitude of stars. It would only need one, the star of Stillness from his inner universe. That single star would then divide itself into countless tiny stars that would be imprinted upon the skeleton’s bones.
For this reason, he had deliberately entered the Mirari Realm and worked through things with Progenitor Chen, using the man’s experience from creating the Cosmic Art to alter it into a version specifically designed for a skeleton, which was what Lu Yin was currently using.
The Cosmic Art transformed the power of Stillness into stars that were imprinted on the skeleton, even as the original star of Stillness remained in place. The power of the star of Stillness had merely been divided, yet it still retained the same ability to devour Stillness that Lu Yin had always possessed.
This was a characteristic of the Cosmic Art.
The Cosmic Art was truly extraordinary. In early stages, it could increase one’s cultivation speed. In the middle stage, the stars could replace those in the actual universe to allow one to accomplish what others could not. Even now, it could still be used in tandem with the Star Fist and all kinds of powers.
If Progenitor Ku's Extremes Must Be Reversed acted upon one’s flesh, opening up infinite possibilities, then the Cosmic Art was something that could help all creatures, opening up infinite cultivation possibilities.
Their generation of the Nine Mountains and Eight Seas had truly been dazzling beyond compare. The Three Realms and Six Daos had become invincible across the megaverse because they had received the Origin Progenitor's guidance. That had allowed each of them to trailblaze a path that was uniquely their own, whereas the Nine Mountains and Eight Seas had walked their path entirely on their own.
A very long time passed, more than ten full years, before the surface of the skeleton’s bones completely fused with the Stillness from the star through the Cosmic Art.
Grain after grain of black light was etched onto the skeleton. Each was a separate fragment of the star of Stillness. They looked like ordinary points, and yet each point was turning.
In Xiang Siyu's eyes, Lu Yin looked as though he had fused an entire universe of stars into his body, like a giant.
"Is this also possible?" Xiang Siyu was amazed and could not help but reach out to touch Lu Yin's bones.
He was left speechless. "If you want to learn this, I can teach you. This is the Nine Clones Secret Technique."
Xiang Siyu shook her head, visibly put off. "I have no desire to become a skeleton."
"The Nine Clones can take any form, as long as it is one that you like."
"I am human. Why would I change into some other form?"
"Fair point."
"Lord Lu, if you go out looking like this, you will scare people."
Lu Yin smiled, baring his teeth. His clone was indeed terrifying; it was just a skeleton.
Not long afterward, Ancestor Lu Yuan arrived. After greeting Xiang Siyu, he took the skeleton clone away via teleportation.
After they were gone, Xiang Siyu stared at Lu Yin's main body. She rested her chin on her hand, blinked, and commented, "This is actually rather interesting."
***
In outer space, Ancestor Lu Yuan looked at Lu Yin with a complicated expression. "Are you really going to do this?"
Lu Yin replied, "Our human civilization has been restricted too severely, and yet our enemies keep pressing in, tightening the noose with each step. If we don’t do this, only extinction awaits us.
"Obscura is our sworn enemy. They will never truly help us. Even if we make a deal, we cannot place too much hope in it."
Ancestor Lu Yuan sighed. "The glory of the Nine Ramparts makes us proud, but it also makes our suffering unbearable. We are being watched far too closely. Any civilization in the Aevum Inch can, so long as it remains safe, grow without limit. We are the only ones not allowed to grow."
Lu Yin smiled. "Ancestor, perhaps this is our chance to surpass the Nine Ramparts."
Ancestor Lu Yuan was taken aback. "Do you really dare to say that?"
"Those people are here, right?"
"They were brought here long ago. All of them are utterly irredeemable criminals. If you had not wanted to keep them, they would have been killed already."
"I’ve already woven their karma. Let them be useful once before they die."
In Joy City, violent music erupted from the castle, shaking both the sky and the ground. Withered Requiem was immersed in the music when they suddenly received a report that a marker had been detected. Withered Requiem immediately ordered Joy City to head towards the marker.
Half a year later, Joy City arrived to see a megaverse off into the distance. "My lord, the marker was sent out from here."
Withered Requiem stood atop the castle. Their sunglasses had been restored, and its hat was still as vivid a pure green as ever. "This is it, yo yo. The Stillness that drew us in this direction, yo yo. So it was here all along."
"My lord, what should we do?"
"Yo yo, go see what is happening inside."
"Yes."
Not long afterward, a skeleton reported, "My lord, many of the lifeforms in this megaverse have been granted Bone Script, just like us. Those who have not are the most ordinary creatures and are of no value whatsoever."
Withered Requiem swayed, dancing. "Yo yo, then there is no need for us to act. Bring back those who were granted Bone Script. This megaverse, yo yo, has been reset, hasn't it?"
"Yes, my lord."
Thud, thud. thud.
One skeletal creature after another descended upon the outside of Joy City, arriving from the nearby megaverse. Most were natives of the megaverse whose form of life had been transformed with Bone Script by Lu Yin. Many of the others had human forms. They were the utterly depraved criminals who had been gathered from the Trio. While granting them Bone Script, Lu Yin had also stripped away their memories and woven their karma, which led them to believe that they had all been born in that megaverse and fought in multiple wars to control it.
Lu Yin had overthought things. Withered Requiem did not even bother asking any questions, simply allowing all of the skeletons into Joy City.
The power of Stillness could not be faked. Aside from the Death Megaverse, who else could wield such power? As for the human form, there were simply too many such beings. Occasionally discovering a human civilization did not concern the Abyss at all.
Zhu had entered Joy City, yet it had never been allowed into the castle, let alone allowed to report anything regarding the Trio. There was no reason for creatures that had been given Bone Script to be suspected.
And so, Lu Yin easily entered Joy City with his skeleton clone. He found it rather novel. Before, he had always moved through Joy City by Possessing other skeletons, but this time, he was walking around as himself.
He looked up. Joy City was moving through the Aevun Inch in a particular direction at a speed that exceeded what an ordinary Immortal could achieve. He was moving farther and farther away from the Trio.
That was good. The farther away he was, the longer it would take his consciousness to dissipate.
Roaring music rose up. Lu Yin looked toward the castle. It was time to make use of his musical talent. He had made a special effort to learn music. His efforts had even allowed Mister Mu to have gained some sense of satisfaction as Lu Yin’s master.
He needed to form a band to enter the castle.
"Brother, want to form a band?" a familiar voice asked.
Lu Yin slowly turned and looked toward the river. There, a familiar fish skeleton was staring at him eagerly. It had no eyes, yet Lu Yin knew it was not merely anticipating his answer, but rather craving it.
He grinned. "Sure."
The fish skeleton was overjoyed. "Really? That's great, brother! I knew that you had it in you the moment I saw you!"
Lu Yin was also delighted. "I think so too."
"Hahahaha! I’ve finally taken the first step! Brother, you’re from the new batch that just came in, right? I haven’t seen you before."
"That’s right. I’m new here, so please guide me."
"No need to be polite. Brother Fishbone here doesn’t have much, but in addition to my impressive musical talent, I’ve also got enthusiasm. Ask me anything you want to know! Brother Fishbone knows it all!"
"There’s not much I want to know. I just want to admire Lord Withered Requiem up close and listen closely to their mastery of music."
The fish skeleton grew even more excited. "Brother, we have the same dream! We’re true brothers."
Lu Yin laughed too. "Then let’s form that band quickly. I’m really looking forward to it."
The fish skeleton nodded excitedly and leapt onto Lu Yin’s shoulder. "Actually, I’ve always had a target. I already chosen someone, but it’s just not easy to persuade them."
"I’ll help you."
"It’s Boss Zhou."
"Boss Zhou? Who?"
"An, ahem, an Immortal being."
Lu Yin looked delighted. "You even target Immortal beings? Wonderful! You’ve truly given me a pleasant surprise."
"Ahem, well, it’s just… not easy to persuade them."
"I’ll help you."
"How?"
"I don’t have much either, except for my musical talent and enthusiasm. No one can refuse my enthusiasm."
"Huh? That line sounds familiar…"
"Don’t worry about the little details. Come on, let’s go find Boss Zhou."
"Let’s go."
"Let’s go."
One person and one fish, two skeletons, walked off into the distance.
The thunder of music made the water boil. Skeletons passed by from time to time all around them. Filled with longing for the future, the fish skeleton’s tail moved with much more joy, constantly slapping the water.
