In truth, the entire Crimson Starshade Civilization had long since made preparations to leave. Many years ago, a group had even departed, but the process had been interrupted by Hong Xia. Now, with Jiu Wen announcing their departure to the entire megaverse, countless people reached out to touch one another. Their efficiency was impressive.Lu Yin took people away again and again, others watching as the people of Crimson Starshade continued to disappear.
Hong Xia returned. Lu Yin faced the man directly. Behind him stood Ancestor Lu Yuan, Lu Huai, and the other members of the Lu family who had awakened the innate gift of teleportation. All of them were constantly taking people away.
Hong Xia watched them work with a calm expression. There was not even the slightest fluctuation.
Lu Yin stared at the man. Hong Xia was the reason why Lu Yin had traveled to Crimson Starshade to begin with, so his return was perfect. "Where is Xiang Siyu?"
Hong Xia directed a cold glance Lu Yins way.
The man had changed. Lu Yin immediately noticed that Hong Xia was looking at him differently from before, and the mans overall demeanor had also changed. Hong Xia had lost his previous unease and wariness.
After the Trio was attacked, Lu Yin had deliberately made sure that Hong Xia had learned that Ba Se had plotted against him with Devouring Trace. That was the same time that Wang Wen had stepped forward. At that time, Hong Xia had grown uneasy and even wary of Lu Yin.
However, all of those feelings had vanished.
"What do your people have to do with me?" Hong Xia asked in an uncaring tone as he calmly looked at Lu Yin. He made no move to stop the people of Crimson Starshade from leaving.
Lu Yins eyes narrowed. "Shes disappeared."
"What does that have to do with me?" Hong Xia repeated.
Lu Yin stared at the man for a long time but said nothing more.
Hong Xia did not stop people from leaving the megaverse. He simply watched, until he was the only one left.
Lu Yin also left. He had obtained the answer he sought, even if the answer could not be spoken directly.
Staring out at the empty universe, with only Chivalrous Bei behind him, Hong Xia released another person: Ji He.
Ji He served as one of Hong Xias twelve anchors of his Path of Dispassion. With Lu Yin no longer caring about breaking seven parts of Hong Xia's Twelvefold Path of Dispassion, Ji He could be released again.
Ji He blankly stared across the universe. "Ancestor Xia, what is this?"
Hong Xia's eyes were icy. "It is better to need nothing."
After settling down the people of Crimson Starshade within the Trio, Lu Yin teleported repeatedly, traveling to the location indicated as invincible.
The coordinates that Ancestor Shan had left behind for the location of invincibility had drawn the attention of even Thousand Machinations. Lu Yin was very curious to see exactly what lay there.
It took him quite some time to reach the location, and when he arrived, he saw a megaverse in the middle of a reset.
Lu Yin entered the megaverse. All of the living creatures in it had long since vanished. Clearly, the reset had been going on for a very long time, given that even the Immortal matter had all dispersed.
This megaverse was the location indicated by the coordinates, but when Lu Yin looked across the entire place, there was simply nothing.
Just as he had done at the Grand Clarity ruins, he simply forced the River of Aeons out. A megaverse could be reset, but its River of Aeons would not change. As long as no Immortal attacked the ferryman, the ferryman would not change either.
However, after pulling down the branch of the River of Aeons, Lu Yin found that there was no ferryman.
He frowned. Even the ferryman was gone? Then how was he supposed to search it?
For the coordinates for invincibility, the location indicated the entire megaverse. Trying to find a single object within a region as vast as a megaverse was incredibly difficult.
Lu Yin released his consciousness, spreading it across the megaverse. Suddenly, he stared at a specific point. There.
When sweeping his consciousness across the megaverse, part of it had simply vanished, and it was in the direction that he was looking in. It was as if his consciousness had been devoured by something invisible.
Given his current strength, what could devour his consciousness without him being able to detect it?
He continued to release his consciousness, and it continued to disappear. He soon pinpointed the location where his consciousness was vanishing. It was the shattered remains of a planet.
A casual wave of his hand overturned the shattered planet. The region was completely empty. There was simply nothing there.
And yet, when his consciousness swept through the area, it was instantly devoured once again.
He tried all kinds of methods: tearing open the void, reversing time, and more. He wanted to find whatever was devouring his consciousness. He was in the exact location of the phenomena, but even when he tore open parallel universes, it remained in the same location, and there was still nothing there. It was bizarre.
He tried Lifeforce, Willforce, and karma, yet still found nothing. It was an incredibly unusual situation.
Not even an Immortals unseen world could hide like him like this.
Lu Yin frowned. It wanted to devour consciousness? Then he would see just how much it could devour. With this thought, the golden light of his Investiture of the Gods illuminated the universe, and consciousness surged forth, enveloping the affected area.
As the consciousness appeared, it was as though it was being swallowed by an invisible hole.
Lu Yin clearly sensed his consciousness disappearing. He had cultivated it to its current strength with great difficulty. While most of it had come from the Consciousness Megaverses conscients, obtaining it still had not been easy. Watching it disappear like this pained him, but he had no choice. It seemed that only consciousness could connect to this unseen thing.
The greatest use of his consciousness was to control the imprints on his Champions' Stage, allowing him to summon champions and grant them spirit. The more consciousness that was consumed, the more that Lu Yin's heart ached.
It was only by comparing the cost to the invincibility supposedly available at this location that he could endure it.
Time continued to pass, and eventually, Ming Yan came out. She had felt a rather shocking amount of consciousness be taken out of the Investiture of the Gods.
Lu Yin shrugged. "Ancestor Shan gave me the coordinates to a location that he said has an opportunity for invincibility. I want to see what it actually is."
Ming Yan was worried. "Is that reliable?"
Lu Yin nodded. "I saved the Seven-Treasure Anuras, so Ancestor Shan should not try to harm me. Besides, Thousand Machinations from the Death Megaverse also cares greatly about this place."
Ming Yan pursed her lips and silently returned to the Investiture of the Gods. No matter what Lu Yin did, she would support him.
Lu Yin was not truly confident, but the more consciousness that was devoured, the more determined he became to see things through. He was like a gambler with bloodshot eyes who had already lost control.
Seeing the golden light of th Investiture of the Gods grow dim, Lu Yin's heart sank to the bottom. This was a problem. He currently lacked the consciousness to even summon his champions and grant them spirit.
This thing would not devour all of his consciousness, would it? If so, Yan'er will also
Just as he worried about this, ripples spread through the void. A scroll floated out before Lu Yin and slowly unfurled.
He stared at it. It was not made of paper, but rather some material that resembled wood. In fact, rather than call it a scroll, it seemed to be more like a carving, an etching that could be rolled up like a scroll. All of Lu Yin's consciousness had been devoured by this etching, and it was still revealing itself.
Lu Yin's eyes flickered as he stared at the etching. He saw living creatures, plants, and various other patterns, all vivid and very lifelike.
He slowly stretched out his hand and touched it. As he did so, the universe spun around him. When he was able to clearly make out his surroundings again, he had entered the carving.
The carved scroll was not large. The reason why Lu Yin was able to enter it was because his own body had shrunk.
He looked around. His vision could both look down on the etching and also clearly see what lay before his own eyes. Those carved lines formed what looked like multiple walls from his current perspective.
The Investiture of the Gods abruptly withdrew. His consciousness was barely able to support it at this point. He had released all of the consciousness that he could.
The scroll also stopped unfurling. Judging by what he could see, there was still more to it. He did not know how much more because his consciousness was insufficient to fully unfurl it.
Was this scroll the invincible opportunity that Ancestor Shan had mentioned? A carved scroll?
Lu Yin analyzed the situation. The amount of consciousness that had been devoured just for this scroll to reveal itself had been shocking. Very few Immortals possessed such vast amounts, because even beings at that level had powers that they focused on and ones that they did not.
Ancestor Shan must have visited this place before. The fact that he had been so certain that an invincible opportunity existed here meant that he had to have known something, but Lu Yin had not seen nearly enough to warrant that term.
Thinking of this, Lu Yin walked forward.
With his body shrunken, he was within the carved scroll, walking through the patterns of the etchings.
He wanted to go straight to the end of where the scroll had unrolled, but he was not able to do so. Teleporting was not possible, and neither could he speed up his progress. All he could do was walk forward, step by step, just like in Manifest City. It was as though he had become a normal human.
As Lu Yin walked, his mind wandered. This was the same as Manifest City, so could this scroll also be a mirebound artifact?
Surely not. No matter how powerful a mirebound artifact might be, it was still dependent on its wielder. Was that why this was only an opportunity, rather than simply invincibility?
But if that were the case, then why had Ancestor Shan not sent some of his offspring or descendents to try their chances? He had believed this to be an opportunity for invincibility, but was the goal to control this carved scroll or to comprehend something from it?
With these questions in mind, Lu Yin walked on. Before long, he suddenly stopped. Something was wrong. He had felt for a while that something was wrong, but he could not say what it was.
He lifted his head and glanced around. The overlapping perspective meant that he simultaneously saw himself as well as all the unrolled parts of the carved scroll.
He shook his head and continued forward, but after walking just a short ways farther, he stopped again. Something was definitely wrong, but he could not put it into words.
It felt like something contradicted what should be normal, abd yet he still could not detect what it was.
He continued.
The third time he stopped, Lu Yin abruptly spun around. He had found what was wrong: he could not remember the path that he had taken.
How could he not remember where he had come from? From the moment he had entered this carved scroll to this point, he had completely forgotten the carved patterns that he had passed by, the feeling of walking, and even what his eyes had seen.
It was as though he had suddenly appeared in the place he stood, with no memory of the journey at all.
That should not be possible.
Lu Yin tried hard to recall his steps, struggling to remember the process, but no matter how he tried, he simply could not recall anything.
He looked ahead and then back where he had come from. His overlapping perspective that saw the entire scroll also saw him looking back. That perspective seemed to be watching him forever, though it also lacked any memory of the carved patterns he had seen along the way.
Lu Yin took a deep breath. So this was what was wrong. Although he did not know why there was this issue, he decided to return to his starting point and walk the path again, remembering where he passed and the carved patterns along the way.
One step, two steps, three steps.
Lu Yin took three steps from his starting position, only to stop again. Beads of sweat were dripping from his forehead.
He had already forgotten.
He had forgotten simply after taking three steps, and yet his own body could sense that he had indeed taken three steps. It was simply the memory of those three steps that was completely gone.
Again.
He tried walking again. This time, he only took two steps.
Still nothing.
One step.
Nothing.
He could not retain the memory covering the distance of even a single step.
Lu Yin stood in place, not moving again. He simply stood there, silently contemplating his situation.
The megaverse was being reset, but the carved scroll was unaffected by that process. It quietly hung in outer space.
After an unknown amount of time had passed, Lu Yin raised his foot and stepped out again. This time, he used his consciousness to forcibly imprint the memory of the step into his mind. He refused to believe that he would truly forget again.
Behind him, the Investiture of the Gods released golden light, rather dazzling. At this point, it was the only light in this megaverse that was resetting.
