After waiting briefly at the entrance, Helena arrived right on time as well. After transforming from dragon form back into human form, she ran toward Noa, swinging her arms as she went.
After exchanging greetings, Helena went down the line and said hello to Leon, Rosvisser, Moon, and the others one by one.
Once the small talk settled, Noa noticed a backpack on Helena’s back.
“Why are you bringing a school bag? Don’t tell me Aunt Claudia assigned you some ‘Sky City day-trip reflection homework,’” Noa teased.
Helena smiled, then shook her head, answering mysteriously.
“Not homework. Guess what it is.”
Noa raised an eyebrow and tested a guess. “New clothes?”
“Nope, nope.”
“Snacks?”
“Still nope, still nope.”
“Then what is it…”
“I know!”
A tuft of hair popped into view. Moon raised her hand with a solemn expression.
“Steak!”
Noa laughed helplessly, wrapped an arm around her sister’s shoulder, and flicked Moon’s forehead lightly.
“You only ever think about food.”
Then Noa looked back at Helena.
“So what is it, really?”
Helena stopped dragging it out. She held the strap of her backpack with one hand, turned her head slightly, and spoke softly.
“Come out.”
The moment she finished speaking, something inside the bag began to squirm.
After a couple of wiggles, the clasp popped open, and a round blue head pushed out.
Noa’s eyes lit up.
“It’s Um! You actually brought it too.”
“Because we’re on vacation,” Helena said as she lifted Um into her arms. “I don’t feel safe leaving it alone in the Adult Dragon Division. And my mom doesn’t really like pets like slimes, so I couldn’t ask her to watch Um. I had to bring it with me.”
Noa blinked. “Aunt Claudia doesn’t like pets? I thought she liked them.”
Helena shrugged.
“She can accept normal pets, like Aju. But something slippery like a slime just doesn’t do anything for her.”
Leon quietly cut in with a small tip.
“Fun fact: Aju is not a normal pet either.”
After all, what kind of normal pet could kick the strongest dragon slayer’s nose bridge and snap it in one hit?
“Chirp chirp chirp~”
Um seemed very interested in Sky City too. It wriggled in Helena’s arms, craning forward to look around.
And naturally, something this cute immediately caught Moon and the others’ attention.
The girls all gathered around, praising Um for being adorable while gently rubbing its little head.
Surrounded by a bunch of girls, Um didn’t look scared at all. If anything, it started making happy gurgling noises.
Um: pleasantly overwhelmed, do not disturb.
“Dad, Mom, should we raise a slime too?” Moon turned to Leon and Rosvisser.
The couple froze and looked at each other, but neither could read anything from the other’s expression.
In the end, Leon asked, “Why do you suddenly want a pet?”
“Because as Muse keeps growing up, it feels like the house is getting a little… too quiet,” Moon said.
Her meaning wasn’t hard to understand.
When there was a much younger child at home, the entire family naturally revolved around her. The atmosphere was lively.
But as Muse grew older and more independent, she no longer needed everyone’s constant attention.
The house would naturally feel a bit quieter than before.
“Is that the only reason?” Aurora leaned closer to Moon and spoke with complete seriousness.
“Don’t worry, second sis. If you want the house to be lively again, you don’t need a pet.”
Moon scratched her head. “Then what do we do?”
“Have Dad and Mom give us a little brother or sister.”
Muse: “I have no objection.”
The youngest had long wanted to experience what it felt like to be an older sister.
“So that means it’s up to Dad and Mom.”
But when Moon looked back at their parents, she found the two of them had already pretended nothing happened, turned their backs, and were gazing toward the entrance to Sky City.
“Oh wow, there are a lot of dragons visiting Sky City today.”
“Yeah, yeah. I heard the forest restrictions are being moved up by half a month!”
“Mm-hm!”
Seeing their parents deliberately dodge the topic, Moon pouted.
“Hmph. Fine. Don’t have one, then.”
While they chatted, Vivian came jogging out from inside Sky City.
“Hi, everyone! Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Vivian greeted Noa and Helena, then looked at Leon and Rosvisser and the younger sisters.
“Uncle and Aunt are here too. Then these must be the sisters Noa is always talking about.”
Noa nodded and began introducing her family.
“The youngest is Muse. The pink-haired one is Xiaoguang—her formal name is Aurora. The white-haired sister is Xiaoxue. And this one next to me...”
“Oh, I know!” Vivian blurted out excitedly. “She looks exactly the same, so she must be Moon!”
Noa laughed. “Right. That’s my twin sister, Moon.”
“Wow… you two really do look.”
Vivian was about to comment on how similar the twins were, but her gaze accidentally dropped to their chests.
A rising mountain range, and an endless plain.
…
Vivian tilted her brows with a grin.
“So there really is a bit of a difference after all…”
Hearing their eldest sister’s new friend tease her like that, Aurora quietly leaned toward Muse and whispered:
“Remind me starting today—every day I’m drinking papaya soup..”
Muse blinked, lifted her eyes to look at the troublemaker, and said flatly:
“Give it up, Third Sister. At your age, if you start trying to fix it now, it’ll be too late anyway.”
“It’s fine. When my divine power fully awakens, I’ll reverse time and start boiling papaya soup from childhood.”
“Time power is not meant to be used like that!”
The two inheritors of time power had developed it to new heights.
As for what kind of heights, do not ask.
After introductions, Vivian led everyone into Sky City.
The girls walked up front, while Leon and Rosvisser followed some distance behind.
It was the girls’ time together, and the couple didn’t want to intrude.
And walking slightly apart also let Leon and Rosvisser enjoy a bit more time as a couple.
“Noa’s new friend seems quite nice,” Rosvisser said slowly as she watched her daughter’s back.
“I remember Noa saying they met on their first mission. That child seems to really admire Noa.”
Leon nodded. “Yeah. What I care about more is that since Noa entered adolescence, she’s been more proactive about making new friends.”
“She used to have only Helena.”
Rosvisser smiled.
“Then we probably don’t need to worry as much about Noa becoming isolated. Being willing to try making new friends is a very good start.”
She paused, as if suddenly realizing something, and continued:
“But do you think Noa can balance her energy between family and friends?”
Leon paused. “What do you mean?”
“Before, when it was only Helena, Noa still had enough time and attention for the girls at home, especially Moon,” Rosvisser said.
“But even then, Moon still felt at first that Helena was taking sis’s attention away. Now there’s Vivian too. Noa has never had to manage the balance between friends and family before. I’m worried she’ll find it difficult.”
A person’s energy was limited. Making friends outside could indeed lead to neglecting those at home.
Especially with a sister like Moon.
Just as Rosvisser said, Moon had taken a long time to accept and understand Helena’s place back then.
Now that Vivian had appeared, would Moon feel again that Noa’s care and love were being divided?
“Do you think you’re overthinking it?” Leon asked.
Rosvisser licked her lips and shook her head.
“When I was helping them choose clothes this morning, Moon was already a little jealous. I can’t say how it’ll develop, but no matter what happens, we need to keep an eye on the girls’ emotions.”
Leon didn’t dwell on it. He nodded directly.
“Okay. I understand.”
Their concern for their daughters had never been limited to the years when they were small.
No matter when or where, they would always be Noa and her sisters’ parents.
They would always keep them in the most important place in their hearts.
They strolled along like that, and when they reached Sky City’s central plaza, Leon ran into another familiar face.
He raised a hand toward the tall figure walking over and greeted him with a grin.
“Long time no see. How’s the new life treating you?”
