Chapter 2409: Fire Scale Summoned Demon

In less than a minute, Earl Mi returned.

After a cloud of dust flew up, the unconscious X0 was thrown in front of Angel. Earl Mi looked at Angel, silently asking how to handle X0.

Angel did not answer immediately but instead examined X0 with great interest.

After a rough inspection, Angel discovered that this guy’s interior was as he suspected, already partially mechanized. Moreover, this mechanization was somewhat different from the mechanical implants in the Southern Domain, carrying a more frenzied transformation aura because even the brain contained some stray mechanical signals.

Angel thought for a moment and said to Earl Mi, "Take him with us for now. However, if he acts up, feel free to deal with him."

He was somewhat interested in the mechanization and Soul Arms within X0. If there was an opportunity to study them, he would take it, but the premise was to be able to control X0. If X0 proved uncontrollable, getting rid of him was fine too.

Earl Mi nodded knowingly, transforming into a patch of dark Ghostly Shadows that engulfed X0.

With Earl Mi watching over X0, Angel naturally let go of his worries and resumed studying the Magical Energy Array of the main control node.

He was highly curious about the Underground Magical Inscriptions X0 wanted to activate earlier, very eager to know what trump card X0 intended to unleash, as this concerned his safety. However, before researching this Magic Pattern, he needed to suppress the information transmission block.

Several minutes later, as a phantom glow flashed, the previously quiet Mind Ribbon came alive again—

"The surroundings seem much less busier than before. Is it because those guys saw us, so they relocated?" Nis’s voice remained the main presence in the Mind Ribbon.

"Possibly." Kanter replied, "But if they did relocate, they would find out where we are."

"Sigh, things were going well, why did that Fire-scaled Summoned Demon have to discover us?" Nis said, "Sir Night’s night seems unable to withstand a fire."

Kanter remained silent.

Nis felt a bit bored, with Angel absent and Kanter occasionally drifting into thought, he decided to turn and prod Reynaud, "Didn’t you just say if the lab could rear Magical Creatures, there must be some way to control them. But now it looks like there’s no control at all?"

Reynaud also didn’t know where the issue lay, stammering without uttering a word.

Nis: "Speaking of which, Reynaud, is that Fire-scaled Summoned Demon one of your lab’s raised creatures?"

The Magical Beast enclosure is a region overseen by Number 17, filled with Magical Creatures captured from the outside world. These creatures were generally divided into two categories: one raised as war beasts for personal use; the other serving as organ donors. Typically, the latter was used.

"However, I remember that the Fire-scaled Summoned Demon in the Magical Beast enclosure was personally raised by Number 17, it shouldn’t be rebellious. Moreover, I’ve seen the Fire-scaled Summoned Demon’s strength, very weak." Reynaud hesitated.

As the question was asked, the Authority Eye held by Reynaud also moved, glancing around and realizing they were midway down a corridor: "Where is this?"

Nis: "Angel?"

Angel: "That’s me."

Nis exclaimed joyfully, "Ah, you can contact us now... does that mean you’re at the main control node?"

After receiving an affirmative reply, Nis quickly asked: "How’s the situation at the main control node? Is everything alright?"

During a few minutes of conversation, Angel and Nis exchanged information on each other’s situations.

Compared to Angel leisurely researching the Magical Energy Array, Nis encountered an unexpected incident, which led to some unpredictable consequences.

Specifically, it was an accident.

Since almost all researchers gathered on the fourth floor, and the Magical Energy Array there was fully activated, in this state, Nis decided against heading to the Exhibition Room and instead directly diverted to the fifth floor. According to laboratory rules, unless permitted by the top three sequences, others dared not venture to the fifth floor.

The besieged Magical Creature, the Fire-scaled Summoned Demon, realizing it was temporarily outmatched, started to flee. Initially, they thought it was a random escape, but later discovered the Fire-scaled Summoned Damon was escaping with purpose, targeting their hidden location.

While pretending to inadvertently pass by them, the Fire-scaled Summoned Damon suddenly ignited a fire towards the shadowed corner where they were hiding. Though the flames couldn’t harm them, the bright red firelight exposed their silhouette in the darkness for an instant.

Just that brief exposure caught the attention of the surrounding researchers.

"Intruders!" After a loud shout, the researchers swiftly dispersed, sensing the unusual energy fluctuation. Nis and the others’ power levels far outmatched the Fire-scaled Summoned Damon, dissuading others from confronting them directly, prompting them to flee.

Watching the experimental center descend into chaos in an instant, it was only then that Nis realized that the fire-scaled demon was charging towards them to deliberately distract everyone, buying time for its escape.

After realizing this, Nis wanted to catch the fire-scaled demon, but it seemed to be very familiar with the laboratory and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

The researchers were also quick to flee, and since they were all inside the experimental center and protected by the activated magical energy array, Nis and the others dared not rush in directly and could only watch as they ran down the corridor on the opposite side of the center.

The next situation was the conversation from the mind link earlier.

They planned to continue heading to the fifth level, and along the way, they couldn’t see any people.

Nis sighed, "I’m wondering if the people on the fourth level can detect our position through the magical energy array and have the people around us evacuate in advance."

Angel glanced at a dazzling block at the main control node and replied, "Indeed, the magical energy array on the fourth level has been fully activated, hmm... including the sensing methods you mentioned."

Kanter: "You’re beside the main control node now, can you take over the magical energy array on the fourth level?"

If Angel took over the magical energy array on the fourth level, they wouldn’t have to worry about being counterattacked by it.

Angel thought for a moment: "I can try, but the magical energy array here is very complex and might take a bit of time."

In other words, Angel was preparing to go silent again.

To prevent Angel from going offline the next moment, Nis quickly said: "Wait a minute, are you sure there’s no trouble on your side? No hunting sequence?"

Angel: "Everything is fine here, no hunting sequence detected, only sequence X0."

"Reynaud, are you sure you don’t know about sequence X0?"

Angel described the characteristics of X0, but Reynaud still looked confused: "I’ve never heard of this person."

Even X0, the experimental subject, has never been exposed.

They chatted briefly again, and ended their short communication. Angel continued to let Toby and Dangross "hang" in the mind link, while he himself studied the magical energy array.

Nis and Kanter discussed for a while and ultimately decided to continue.

They were already within the magical energy array and categorized as intruders, stopping in place might also prompt the opposition to manipulate the magical energy array against them.

Thus, it might be better to proceed to the fifth level ahead of time.

Of course, if during this process, Angel could take over the magical energy array on the fourth level, that would be even better.

Reynaud looked slightly embarrassed: "I feel like I’ve been to that junction, but my memory suddenly froze; perhaps the memory related to that junction is with my physical body?"

"So, you might have made a mistake at that junction?"

Reynaud weakly replied: "It’s possible, maybe we should go back and try another path..."

Nis sighed again, and indeed, there was no other choice but to turn back.

As they retraced their steps, the long-lost voice came through the mind link.

Angel: "I’ve generally understood the situation of the magical energy array on the fourth level."

Upon hearing Angel’s voice, Nis quickly asked: "How’s the situation?"

Angel pondered: "There’s good news and bad news, which one do you want to hear first?"
