Chapter 3687: When Life Gives You Lemons

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Rui’s attention momentarily returned to the memories that he was going through. He was living through Anthea’s life, moment by moment, minute by minute.

’Anthea lived to the age of ninety-three. Which means...’

It meant that he was going to be here a while.

Coincidentally, he was ninety-three years old. He wondered if there was any significance to that fact. Regardless, he wasn’t able to break out of these memories yet.

He tried activating his Realms of Power.

He tried exerting force.

He tried employing his mind and soul to force himself out.

But nothing worked.

He was stuck.

If this was similar to what Amare went through, then there was no chance for him to get out. She had only managed to get out after she achieved Enlightenment of Self.

’My situation is probably much harder to get out of than hers. For her, it was memories hypnotized into her mind and a prison created by her subconscious mind. The reason why the Enlightenment of Self helped was that it would give her control of her subconscious mind and undo the prison.’

In his case, the prison was not being created by his subconscious mind.

It was being created by half of his brain, which was now an evosapien. It was a hardware problem that could not be fixed through software, such as his mind or soul.

’The only good thing is that I know that my body is stationary. So I don’t have to worry about any adverse effects over the control of my body... for now. More importantly...’

He turned his attention back to the memories as his evosapien mother breastfed him with a loving, maternal expression, closing his eyes.

He could feel that these weren’t simply superficial memories. Whatever he was going through was being ingrained into his own mind and memories. He could feel his body remembering these memories as if he had actually gone through with them.

This allowed him to form a hypothesis of what was happening.

’What I am experiencing currently is just the evosapien half of my brain ’installing’ Anthea’s memories from wherever it is being stored. The neuron cells are rapidly uploading the memories through my brain, which includes both evosapien neurons and antithesis neurons.’

In other words, the experience he was experiencing was a manifestation of the uploading and installation process. By the time he was done, he would inherit all of Anthea’s memories and even muscle memories.

It was even possible that he would inherit a part of Anthea’s identity.

’My Large Soul Model should still be running... so at the very least I won’t lose my Enlightenment of Self. Regardless...’

His attention returned to the memories he was going through as a sense of acceptance washed over him.

’This is what I get for disregarding my instincts about the danger. I should have known that it was too good to be true.’

The fact that the neurons had waited until he replaced even half of his cerebral cortex was telling. The neurons had acted with some degree of awareness and cognizance of what was happening, and only chose to install his memories after he had replaced half of his brain with Anthea’s neurons.

’It bypassed even the Eye of Prophecy.’

And, of course it did. With his recent revelations on the nature of consciousness and the nature of mind as information phenomena that likely existed in some invisible, abstract, and immaterial information dimension, he was not surprised that it completely and utterly made a fool of his Eye of Prophecy.

He had cleanly fallen for the trap.

And yet, he couldn’t stop the excited smile from emerging on his metaphorical face even as he experienced the memories.

’Inheriting Anthea’s memories...’

His pitch-black eyes lit up with greed. ’That... that would be a blessing and a miracle.’

The reason that Anthea must have done this was perhaps to partly reincarnate, but certainly also to bestow an even greater advantage on his offspring.

Inheriting the memories and muscle memory of the greatest evosapien warrior in the history of the species?

’It’s nothing short of a priceless miracle and boon.’

Anthea’s genetic adaptive evolution had reached a realm that even Rui could not fathom. The fact that he had managed to adaptively evolve his DNA such that he could encode his memories into the chemical structure of each cell was truly extraordinary.

Even Rui, with all of his vast intellect, knowledge, and his quantum gravitational tweezers, couldn’t fathom accomplishing such a feat.

It was possible in theory.

Information could be stored in infinite ways, and organic chemistry was extremely versatile and diverse, making for countless permutations and combinations that could serve as extremely good memory storage sites. He must have somehow managed to encode a truly unfathomable amount of information in a very small amount of space.

In practice, Rui knew this kind of genetic adaptive evolution on a biochemical level was beyond him.

’This boon was not intended for me. It was intended for his offspring. But...’ Rui grinned. ’Now that I have gotten my hands on it, I am not letting go!’

Rui didn’t give the slightest bit of a damn about dual or triple identities or whatever.

He didn’t care.

If he were still a Martial Master, he would have undoubtedly had a big meltdown and identity crisis about it, as he had in the past. But now that he was a Martial Sage, he knew who, or even what, he was.

’I am an agent of adaptive evolution. Rui, John Falken, Anthea... these are all merely elements that I can use to achieve my greatest goal. There is no need to fret.’

Rui embraced the flush of memories unfolding in his mind in real time!

A flush of euphoria and ecstasy raged through him as he realized that this was not only not a problem, it was the best goddamn thing that could have happened to him!

And he wasn’t wrong.

He knew that mastering the evosapien half of his body was going to be extremely difficult. It took evosapiens themselves decades to master their body, and it could take Anthea close to a century to reach the level that he had reached.
