Chapter 3731: Offense to Defense

While Rui fought Suneater and Sentinel Prime, the entire world watched with gaping mouths.

The battle took place in the Great Nam Ocean, after all. It was not covered by anti-surveillance measures, allowing satellites around the world and other surveillance means to study the battle in real time. Countless forces had watched with shock as the Kandrian Empire, on the very verge of complete destruction, had been saved at the very final moment by the Dawnbringer.

They watched with shock as he went on to fight three powerful pathwalkers, two of whom were in the top ten.

"He’s really holding them all off by himself...!" Prime Minister Edward’s eyes widened with shock as he studied the feed. "Impossible!"

RUMBLE...

His projection flickered as a wave of seismic radiation washed over the isolated chamber protecting the Emperor of Harmony. Emperor Rael’s golden eyes widened as he saw his own son take on not just the Suneater and Sentinel Prime, but also defeat Tokugawa Ieyasu.

"Incredible..." A faint glimmer of hope lit up in the Emperor’s eyes. "You’ve gotten strong, Rui, just like you promised."

It was the proposition with which Rui had entered the manifold to train for sixteen years. He hadn’t imagined that the power boost that Rui would gain would be that extraordinary, even if he knew his son had an astronomical rate of growth.

"You mean to tell me that there is so much untapped potential power above even Transcendental candidacy?" Prime Minister Edward gazed at Rui with a stunned expression.

RUMBLE...

Another wave of tremors washed over the entire continent.

"...From what I understand, Realms were never absolute limitations," the Emperor of Harmony spoke carefully as he watched his son fight dominantly against two top-ten powerhouses. "They are simply general ranges that a vast majority of Martial Artists fall in. Just the fact that modern Apprentices can defeat Martial Squires of old is proof that they are not absolute. And if you have a one in a billion, no, one in a trillion miracle of a Martial Artist with the right circumstances and stimulation, you can end up with extraordinary outcomes, like this."

"That’s true, I suppose," Prime Minister Edward remarked. "Your son did touch entirely unfathomable heights even as a Martial Master, fighting Martial Sages going all-out from the very get-go. Still, his timing was truly miraculous; he came just in time—"

"No."

Emperor Rael’s severe tone cut right through Prime Minister Edward’s voice.

He brought up various images and feeds of the eastern side of the Kandrian Empire with a grave expression.

It was a sight of pure destruction.

One that stretched thousands of kilometers from north to south along the eastern coast, several hundred kilometers inland.

Entire villages, towns, cities, and even a whole region had been flattened.

Kandria’s second-most dominant and powerful industry, the maritime and seafaring industries, had effectively been wiped out.

Emperor Rael’s golden eyes were filled with agony.

He had painstakingly built Kandria’s seafaring and maritime industry into a continental powerhouse over the span of four centuries, making it one of his nation’s greatest assets.

He had personally overseen the construction and creation of the ports, harbors, and cities in the early days when he was still a young king who had just taken the throne.

RUMBLE...

Another wave of seismic radiation washed over them.

"He was too late."

The old emperor’s expression was dark.

His voice was heavy.

Prime Minister Edward could sense the reproach and resentment in it. Had Rui not been selfish enough to prioritize his own power over the well-being of the nation, he would have been a prince off, this would likely have never happened.

Thus, even Rui coming to save the day would have been a net neutral, even if he had come in time. The fact that he was too late meant that ultimately, Rui had proven to be a net liability for the Kandrian Empire.

"Don’t be too certain," Prime Minister huffed lightly, shaking his head. "The fact of the matter is that NOVA had an extremely brilliant idea of using all these trump cards at the moment the Suneater arrived, predicting that he would stretch our strongest forces extremely thin. Had your son not gone into the manifold, he would not have been strong enough to deal with all of them by himself."

"You give him too much credit." Emperor Rael shook his head, refusing to let his son off the hook this time. "He did not have such considerations when he chose to pursue his own training. He simply got excited about the prospects of the outcomes after he spoke with the Divine Doctor and decided to ditch the war and focus on himself. It was a decision of utmost selfishness."

RUMBLE...

Another wave of tremors washed over them.

Prime Minister Edward shook his head. "Assigning blame is not useful. Once this battle is over, you have a lot of work to do."

Emperor Rael nodded with a determined gaze.

"I will rebuild everything that was destroyed from scratch."

His voice was one of fierce conviction.

"But first..." his gaze returned to the feed featuring Rui’s battle with two top-ten powerhouses. "...We must see this to the very end."

Emperor Rael, Prime Minister Edward, and every other leader of not just Panamic Civilization but also of Gaia civilization beheld the extraordinary battle unfolding in the Great Nam Ocean.

RUMBLE!!!!!

Rui charged towards Sentinel Prime, unleashing a powerful blow meant to knock his head off, only for Suneater to unleash an extraordinary swing at both Rui and Sentinel Prime.

WHOOSH!!!

Rui sharpened his eyes as the turbulence impeded his manipulation of space and time, forcing him to evade the attack physically. It took moving hundreds of kilometers to evade even a single attack from the Suneater, giving Sentinel Prime enough of an opportunity to catch his breath.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!!!

The latter launched a destructive onslaught of attacks from afar as he maneuvered around Suneater, where the turbulence through the heavens was just enough to make opening a wormhole difficult, but still light enough to allow him to maneuver well enough.

’If I increase my coordination, there’s a good chance we will be able to keep him at bay.’ NOVA’s thoughts had already turned towards defensive maneuvering. ’I can prepare opportunities for Sentinel Prime to restock his antimatter supplies. Then we can slowly wear him down and outlast him in the long run.’
