The ocean had since calmed down after the battle. The swaying waters had since relaxed once the conflict had ended, and the violent winds had returned to being warm, humid breezes under the noon sun.Rui hadn’t visited it to enjoy the ocean, of course.
VMMM...
In front of him, hanging in the air, was the body of Sentinel Prime.
He had left it paralyzed after he had isolated the central processing system that had been cyber-infiltrated by NOVA, or by some program that could channel her.
"I’m sorry to leave you standing here like this," Rui’s tone was surprisingly respectful. "I can only imagine how much torment you’ve been through in the past few hours."
He wasn’t talking to NOVA, of course.
She couldn’t hear him.
He was talking to the original owner of the body inside the only organic component of the cyborg body.
The brain.
The actual Sentinel Prime.
He could detect and interpret the brainwaves with his Mind Sense, allowing him to understand what Sentinel Prime was experiencing.
He sensed anger.
An unfathomable rage and thirst for vengeance.
Of course he did.
The man had been enslaved and his body hijacked by NOVA. It was a humiliating experience for a proud pathwalker who ranked among the top ten.
"I suppose you can’t hear me for now." Rui heaved a sigh. "Well, I’ll just have to lend your body to the Esoterist and see if he can wipe out the changes NOVA made with her cyber-infiltration. But only after he gets a thorough and deep scan of all the technologies comprising your body, of course. But first..."
His powerful senses swept over Sentinel Prime’s body.
Within it, he detected two curiosities.
The first was a living creature.
An artificial chimera, of sorts.
It was Weapon Authority that NOVA had used to hijack the therianthropes and remove them from the war. Rui had no use for it, because his own Authority of Alpha was unparalleled, save for Jormungandr.
"Hmm..." Rui’s eyes sharpened. "I know exactly who to give this to."
His eyes shifted to the other object stored within Sentinel Prime’s body.
The corpse of the Blood Lord.
Or rather, the living vegetable body of the Blood Lord.
His regeneration has saved his body, but his mind was scrambled.
The fact that Sentinel Prime had stored his body meant that NOVA likely wanted to decode the ’biotechnology’ that made for his extraordinary regeneration and healing.
"Too much time has passed for me to resurrect him."
The body itself was in a fresh state.
The issue was that hours had passed since his death. Too much time had passed for him to use Angel of Laplace. Not to mention, they were far away from the exact spot he had died at, so even if he used Angel of Laplace to go back an hour by some miracle, it would not work.
The Blood Lord was dead.
"I will have to return this to the Blood Cult."
Rui felt tempted to keep the body for himself so that he could conduct experiments to copy some of the Blood Lord’s regeneration, but... ultimately, he decided not to dishonor the man like that.
This was an honored warrior who had sacrificed his life to protect the Kandrian Empire.
Rui did not want to feel dirtier than he already did.
"I highly doubt the Blood Cult will dispose of his body either, though; it’s a precious resource for research." He heaved a sigh. "I’ll just ask them to share their research results with me in exchange for returning their body to them."
VMMM...
He opened a portal, putting Weapon Authority and the Blood Lord’s body in the same place he had placed Tokugawa’s head and MECHA.
WHOOSH
He teleported to the Esocline Federation, outside the internal core of the dense high-tech metropolitan state he was in, gazing around at all the automated machines on the sidewalks and autonomous carriages transporting materials across the entire nation.
THUD
He dropped the sentinel’s body outside the large gate to the Esocline Federation.
"I know you can hear me," he called out, pointing at the sentinel. "Fix this guy. I need to speak with him. Don’t try anything funny. I owe you one. Ah, and also..."
His expression grew serious.
"Arrange a meeting with all the immortal sages. I have something important to speak to all of you about. Don’t worry about the Divine Doctor, though. I know where he is. Ok bye."
WHOOSH
He disappeared.
A minute later, the gate to the inner core of the Esocline Federation opened as several logistical mechs emerged from within the nation.
VMMM...
"Tsk, who does he think I am?" The Esoterist grumbled as he emerged from within on a floating transportation platform. "The neighborhood mechanic? Tsk tsk, there’s no reverence at all."
Then again, he was the Dawnbringer. If there was anybody who didn’t need to show reverence to anybody else, it was Rui Quarrier. The Esoterist simply heaved a sigh, turning his attention to Sentinel Prime with an excited smile. "I suppose I can forgive him for giving me such an excellent toy. Hehehe... you and I are going to have some good fun, big boy."
The Esoterist didn’t care for non-esoteric technology, but he knew that it was much more sophisticated than esoteric technology on average. If he could harness that refinement and apply it to esoteric technology, he would be able to raise it to an even greater level.
Especially technology as refined as the one integrated into the body of Sentinel Prime. While the Esoterist immediately got to decoding the body of the leader of the sentinels, Rui had teleported to the Beast Domain.
To the Elder Tree and the Garden of Salvation.
Ever since a pact between the Elder Tree and the Panamic Alliance had been forged over the relationship between the human civilization and the Beast Domain, the Elder Tree had undone its enormous space-time domain, allowing the Garden of Salvation to become accessible.
