While the nation, continent, and true world reacted to the shocking announcement and debacle at the royal funeral, Princess Ru had already moved on to the next step."Thank you for honoring my request to speak to you in private immediately, Your Sagehoods." She smiled harmoniously at the many guests who had gathered in the guest room of her mansion. "I apologize for the short notice, but this is something that I need to iron out immediately."
Opposite her were several Martial Sages representing different Sage-level powerhouses and other groups.
"No apology is needed, Your Highness," Blood Lord Mariel raised a hand, with an appreciative expression. "I am grateful that you are willing to step up and represent our interests to His Highness. If we tried to do that..."
She winced. "It would end up becoming a Martial duel between ourselves and him. And while I’m sure he wouldn’t kill us, we wouldn’t stand a chance against him."
Princess Ru raised an eyebrow with a hint of intrigue. "Is the gap in power really that large?"
She wasn’t a powerscaler, which was actually a professional and esteemed occupation in the Panama Continent. Perhaps in a world where superpowers did not exist, powerscalers were limited only to the unemployed who had nothing better to do with their time than debate meaningless, fictional hypotheticals that were completely detached from reality in online forums, but in Gaia, powerscaling was a highly important and respected occupation.
After all, one needed to understand how strong enemy pathwalkers were. This was extremely important intel that could make or break a war. But of course, enemy pathwalkers would not willingly subject themselves to a test or divulge sensitive information to their enemies. Thus, powerscalers scaled their power by evaluating feats and estimating their net combat power.
In fact, even the Martial grades from grade one to grade ten were often created and evaluated by the powerscaling department of the Panamic Martial Federation that quantified combat parameters and correlated them with grades.
Unfortunately, it was a profoundly deep and wise field that Princess Ru had absolutely no foundation or background in, making it difficult for her to fully comprehend how strong Rui actually was.
"Yes, Your Highness," Sage Arken Meetlin of the Naraka Sect coughed. "The gap really is that enormous. Especially after he woke up from his coma and then fought two top-tens and Tokugawa Ieyasu and emerged victorious. The power that he has obtained is truly unfathomable. To the point that if you told me is a Martial Transcendent, it wouldn’t be entirely absurd. Especially since word has spread among Martial Sages that His Highness has not slept once since the battle. Meaning he has overcome the price of the Realms."
Princess Ru fell into deep thought. "Doesn’t that mean...?"
"Indeed, Your Highness," King Zoltres of the Solaris Kingdom nodded with a grim expression. "He has consumed the Blood of Solaris as well. And with no limits to his mind’s stamina, it means that he can fight indefinitely for a long, long time. He is the perfect lifeform. The perfect warrior. The perfect pathwalker. If not for that, I think all three hundred and eighty-seven Martial Sages could jump him all together and emerge victorious, but with that kind of stamina, even if we all fight him together, he will likely emerge victorious unless we get lucky."
Princess Ru’s eyes widened with shock at those words. "...That is unfathomable. How can one Martial Artist who hasn’t reached Transcendence defeat the entire Martial World by himself?"
"He’s just built different, my dear princess," Sage Sharnall, the president of the Mallarkian Martial Consortium, remarked with a wry smile. "He has always been extraordinary, but this time, it’s truly unfathomable; what he has accomplished."
"...Then why didn’t he keep pressing until everybody yielded?" Princess Ru murmured with a mystified tone. "I was under the impression that most of the Martial World would be a challenge even for my esteemed brother."
"That’s difficult to comprehend for me personally," Blood Lord Mariel remarked with a thoughtful tone. "But it seems that he truly is unwilling to crush those who oppose him under his heel in a ruthless manner. His Highness is a bit soft and kind, not a trait that I think is admirable for a warrior, but in this case, I welcome it."
"He is a man who does not want to be hated by his own kind, it appears. It seems that your father has had some influence on his thinking, making him want to obtain things harmoniously rather than through force," President Sharnall remarked.
Princess Ru’s expression grew complicated. Her father’s choice to adopt harmony was partly because he didn’t have the power to force people. Perhaps the influence was not good, considering it was mismatched to Rui’s circumstances.
Still, she was grateful that he seemed to care about the will of the people.
"His Highness is undoubtedly aware that he could do more and is aware of his own bias towards being harmonious, given that he has Enlightenment of Self, so you needn’t worry about him being too soft to protect the continent," Sage Arken remarked knowingly. "For now, let us simply accept his willingness to consider our will and make the most of it. I don’t know about anybody else, but I’m willing to entrust you to represent our interests and concerns."
"Same here," Blood Lord Mariel added.
"I, too, concur." President Sharnall nodded. "Any concession you gain will be a positive, since His Highness seems dead set on subjugating the Martial World no matter what."
"Thank you, leaders of human civilization," Princess Ru smiled harmoniously. "I cannot promise what I’m uncertain of, but I have a good understanding of where I can push to get him to be more reasonable. It is thanks to your courage in standing up for yourself in a bold and brazen manner that we are here. Rest assured, I will not allow this opportunity to go to waste."
Very quickly, she came to an arrangement with the Martial Sages.
