"Please do." Princess Ru swept a tuft of her golden hair behind her ear. "You will need to have serious conversations with her about not just starting a family, but also about the matter of you fathering children with consorts.""...Consorts? Me?"
"As I said, my mother is a princess from a vassal kingdom of Kandria." She heaved a sigh, shaking her head. "Our father accepted princesses and women as consorts from across our continent to forge ties with different parties to father a large number of descendants who could potentially ascend the throne."
"...I think I’ll skip out on that."
"You cannot. You can’t expect Her Sagehood to bear all of your children. It would be an extreme burden on her, and frankly, given that she’s a Transcendent Candidate, I would rather you didn’t have any children with her at all."
"She’s going to lose her mind if you tell her that and about the consorts, so let’s skip that part." Rui broke into a cold sweat at how much bloodlust the mere topic would invoke. "There is absolutely no way she’ll tolerate it."
"This is what it means to be a partner of the Emperor." Princess Ru simply huffed lightly. "It is your duty to father children. The biggest compromise would be to use artificial methods of producing descendants if that’s a large problem for you. You can periodically supply seed and have concubines bear your children while starting your own family with Sage Amare. But like I said, considering her Martial prowess and her importance as a combat asset, I would actually rather you didn’t start a family with her. We cannot allow a Transcendent Candidate to be incapacitated for nine months."
"Hmmm, I’ll have to have a talk with her about all of this stuff."
Rui heaved a tired sigh. "Regardless, when I ascend the throne, I’m going to be extremely busy just becoming comfortable with it, so it will take time."
"That is understandable, with your immortality, it does not need to be rushed, but it is something that she and you need to be aware of," Princess Ru remarked with a clinical tone. "One more thing..."
She studied his translucent physiology with a raised eyebrow. "Are you even fertile in this state of yours? You didn’t turn yourself impotent with this radical metamorphosis, did you? That would be... deeply bad for the future of our nation."
"I am fine, I have complete control over all my cells. I can still shoot shots. Ironically..."
He gazed at his hands knowingly. "I could theoretically even pass on Anthean physiology since I integrated half of his cells across my entire body."
Her eyes widened with shock. "Meaning you could produce the generation of miracles that the Evolutionary Army is desperately protecting with all they have?!"
"Yes, but I won’t do that." He swiftly shut down that topic. "After all, this power comes with a price that is extremely dangerous. You see..."
He quickly explained to her the biochemical memory inheritance that Anthea had programmed into his genes.
Her eyes widened with horror when he finished describing what he had learned. "This... this is an apocalypse of a crisis. If each and every single evolutionary gains the skill and experience of a top-ten pathwalker in addition to his godlike power, then they will crush all of us with an indomitable force."
Rui nodded with seriousness. "Even if I were to produce children with Anthean physiology, they would be compromised from the very get-go."
Her expression grew complicated. "It’s a sort of failsafe in case anybody got a hand on his living cells, I see. Still..."
She directed a pointed gaze at him. "Is there nothing you can do about that? If you can somehow overcome that problem, it would be a huge asset to improve our military potential in the future."
"We already have the blood children, I really think thinning Martial blood anymore than it will be is not good," Rui remarked. "It could destroy the Martial Path. Not all hybrids are good or strong. There are some hybrids who are superior to the purebloods, like the sentinels, and there are others that are complete failures because the potentials don’t align. Mixing adaptive evolution, hemokinesis, and Martial Art will produce some unholy chimera of a superpower that is more than likely to be a failure."
She winced at those words. "I see... you’re right. I’ll defer to your opinion as something of an expert. However, is there nothing you can do? It would truly be a waste if those genes weren’t put to good use."
"...The biggest issue is the memory inheritance. Any baby that inherits that will be brainwashed from birth to be loyal to the Evolutionary Army and believe that they are Anthea, in some cases," Rui remarked knowingly. "I will need to work hard to undo that biochemical memory compression. Even for me, that will take quite some time. But once that’s done, I will be able to create a gene sequence that will essentially be a hypothetical Rui Quarrier if he had been born as an evosapien in Anthea’s place."
"This way, you can completely get rid of Anthea’s legacy within your genes but retain all of his power," Princess Ru’s expression lit up. "I like it. That sounds good. Once you do that, your offspring will contain only your genes, but inherit your power."
"It’s my power now," Rui corrected her. "The genes are already different from Anthea’s, with all the modifications and changes that I have made to them, like getting rid of the cold fusion nonsense. I just haven’t altered them enough to completely get rid of the biochemical memory compressed within them. That will take time, as I said."
"That’s good to know, so the hybrid children produced from your seed will be yours and yours only. That removes an extremely dangerous security risk," Princess Ru nodded. "I understand that you are wary about mixing different paths haphazardly, but I hope you consider passing on your adaptive evolution path and genes to the next generation. They will be as miraculously important as each blood child."
Rui was attracted by the proposal of creating water children the way the Blood Goddess birthed blood children with her eggs. He would be able to pass on adaptive evolution to human civilization on a level that would surpass even the Water Sect that had spread across the continent.
He suspected that spreading his adaptive evolution genes to human civilization would help him discover more Water in the world and bring him closer to the Transcendent Realm.
