Chapter 3869 Overwhelming Dominance

RUMBLE!!!

Longmin City began quaking dangerously as the onslaught from the battle began spreading across the city. It caused a mass panic among the people who began running away from the center of the city in the direction of the city walls and the transit ports that could allow them to safely evacuate the city.

"Run away!"

"We need to get as far away from the center as possible."

"I don't know what the hell just happened, but this whole city has become dangerous!"

Much to their shock, however, the other Martial Artists of the city firmly seized control of the city, preventing the citizens from leaving it. Martial Apprentices and Squires formed a firm barricade while Martial Seniors and Martial Masters hovered in the air above, overseeing the panicking civilians with a cold expression.

"What the hell?! Let us out of the city!"

"Can't you see that there's a big crisis happening?!"

"All of us need to get the hell out of here!"

"Don't you know who my family is? Once I tell them about this, you guys are all screwed!"

Yet, the Martial Masters overseeing the barricade remained unmoved, simply coldly glaring at the people. "You all are going nowhere. You will remain hostage against the Dawnbringer. Quietly accept the inevitable."

A wave of shock washed through them at the mention of the Dawnbringer.

"He's here…?"

"Is that why the Martial Sages are fighting so ferociously?!"

"Ugh, I don't care, bodyguards, open a path for us to escape!"

The wealthier and more powerful individuals with their own Martial Senior guards leaped into action, trying to create an opening for their charges to escape. "It's useless." With a single swift jab, a Martial Master batted them away, knocking them out. "Your fates hang in the line and there's no way for you to escape."

The citizens of Longmin City remained trapped within it even as the battle between the Sovereign Martial Alliance and Rui continued within the opaque Domain of Containment.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

Hundreds of Martial Sages attacked Rui from afar, threatening to crush him under the sheer destructive weight of their attacks. Rui's eyes sharpened as he activated Body of Water and enhanced it with fluidic biotechnologies, where he turned half his body into a fluid-like material by having the cells be more fluid-flowing.

Simultaneously, he reinforced his bones with invintium using the exotic pluripotent matter he had across his entire body. He became virtually indestructible within a certain tier of power. He then used Flux Earther to smoothly disperse most of the energy that they threw at him harmlessly while keeping the rest in store.

He withstood everything they threw at him, unwilling to allow too many attacks to strike the ground, lest the destruction escape his domain and harm the people. For that, he needed to eat most of the onslaught that they threw at him. And indeed, that had always been their strategy; by holding the people hostage, they could mount as many attacks on him as they wanted without having to deal with his absurd evasive maneuvering.

However, what they didn't realize was that his defensive prowess was equally absurd. Countless long-range attacks of wind, sound, heat, plasma, and light converged on him, threatening to crush him. And yet, they didn't so much as put a scratch on him.

Wind was reduced to a breeze when it struck him, sound was reduced to slight pressure, heat attacks were warm, at most, and plasma and light tickled. Not only did the aforementioned defensive measures allow him to easily withstand such a paltry level of power with ease, but with his body-consciousness, the execution of all body-related techniques had risen astronomically.

His body-consciousness was a maestro at manipulating the body just perfectly to ensure the most surreal displays of invincibility.

He was like a god upon whom no force could act. The defensive prowess almost defied reality, leaving even the Gallant Fist shocked as the man tried leading his Martial Sages into victory.

"How…" The man gritted his teeth as he unleashed an astronomically destructive onslaught of attacks. "How in Gaia are you this invincible?! It's not possible for one man to be this absurdly powerful!"

A small smile emerged on Rui's face. "You have no idea what is possible, little Sage."

Rui's hand sharpened into a jab as it thrust forth with great power and speed, even though there was nobody in front of him.

There didn't need to be.

A portal opened, allowing Rui's palm to be projected a much greater distance away than short-range attacks could ever go.

SPLAT!

The Martial Sages froze as their gaze shifted away in the direction of the splatter of blood at one of their comrades, an older female Martial Sage.

DRIP DRIP DRIP…

She gazed at her abdomen at the open portal, the palm that pierced her belly through it. The wound wasn't as fatal as the Poison of Yin and Yang that Rui poured through into her body.

Just a drop was more than enough.

In the blink of an eye, streaks of pitch-black gu and paper-white blood cells spread across her body and skin, snuffing her life in an instant.

THUD

The older Sage's body collapsed lifelessly. She didn't stand a chance against a poison of that caliber.

None of them could.

"We will not spare a single one of you." Rui's ethereal eyes flared with fierce determination. "Prepare to die or suffer a fate even worse."

What followed was a massacre so fast that even the Martial Sages themselves couldn't even begin to process it. SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT!

Rui's hands became blinding blurs.

Faint streaks and after images.

Portals opened and closed in the blink of an eye.

Blood was spilled.

Poison was injected.

And bodies collapsed.

"ARRGHHHRHH!!!"

"NO!!! NO NO NO!!!"

"HELP! HELP—"

THUD

Scream as they might, defend as they pleased, run away as they tried, and yet, their fates were all but sealed. Nobody could stop Rui from opening a portal, and nobody could stop his hand from flying through and injecting poison into their body.
