What he proposed would incentivize Martial Artists to focus their attention on outer space rather than in Panama, allowing their capacity and tendency for violence to be channeled in more productive manners than simply causing mass disarray within human civilization."International war with our enemies and war in outer space," Rui raised two fingers. "That will be the crucibles of fire that will ensure our capacity for violence will never diminish. So rest assured, the Martiality in our blood will never go away. And those who possess more of it will be rewarded and tested thoroughly."
Those words seemed to genuinely bring relief to the minister, who simply nodded with more satisfaction. "Thank you, Your Majesty. You have addressed many of my concerns; however, the implementation is what ultimately matters."
"Look at how well the regime and other policies were implemented," Rui replied. "So don't worry about it. I'm not about to let the Martial Path fade away from our civilization because of peace and pacifism. I believe we can have our propensity for violence and channel it outwardly so well that we can maintain internal order."
Rui was sincere about this ambition, even if it was truly a case of trying to have your cake and eat it. In this case, he believed it was very much within the realm of possibility.
Not just possibility, but even certainty.
He could make it happen.
The trajectory of their civilization was extremely optimistic and positive. They were in a dominant position in the Panama Continent militarily, with mass breakthroughs; they were heads and shoulders above everybody else with resources in the form of absolute control over esoteric and negatron matter. They were dominant geopolitically, with a vast majority of nations and states having some form of favorable relationship with them in the aftermath of the war.
They were set to dominate the Race of the Stars.
Everything was going perfectly well. The future of human civilization was all both destined to be highly prosperous from this point on. It was possible for them to reach an almost utopic level of prosperity in the future as long as they maintained this trajectory, and even the threats of the generation of miracles of the Evolutionary Army were no longer as apocalyptic as they once seemed, with the sheer number of advantages that they had.
Everything was going well.
BANG
The door to the meeting flew open in a loud sound, startling the ministers engrossed in the meeting as Secretary Claris arrived before him, out of breath, with a flushed expression.
"Your Majesty," she spoke to him urgently. "It's Her Sagehood! Please come quickly."
Suddenly, the air tingled with a hint of tension as the weight of what she conveyed fell upon all of them.
The royal consort had fallen into labor.
The birth of the first princess was all but nigh.
Rui's eyes widened at those words. "Meeting adjourned."
WHOOSH
He teleported to Claris from his seat in the blink of an eye, putting a hand on her shoulder as they teleported away once more to his royal quarters, where Amare lay on the bed with an expression of pain. Her face was flushed red, covered in sweat, while her amber eyes were hazy with pain and discomfort.
Around her were a team of nurses and a doctor who quickly made preparations to carry her away on a stretcher.
"Rgh…!" She gritted her teeth as waves of pain flooded her nervous system, while her breathing became irregular and out of breath. "Amare!" Rui rushed to her side, down on a knee, as he gazed at her with sharp concern. "Rui…" She held his hand with tremendous pressure, causing even his bones to creak under the force, showing just how much pain she was in. He turned towards the medical team, who made preparations to move her to the medical wing of the royal palace immediately. "Wait, I'll take her there, it'll be quicker."
He lifted Amare in his arms, stepping away from everybody before quickly opening a portal by mobilizing the negatron matter within his body. WHOOSH…
The very fabric of space and time bends, before tearing and being held open by negative matter. It opened a portal to the medical wing, as he quickly stepped through, followed by the medical team as they quickly guided him to the medical room prepared for her in advance.
It was a spacious, medical room, one reserved for important members of the royal family, with several seemingly high-tech medical machines behind the bed. The room reeked of the familiar smell of sterility and rubbing alcohol that characterized hospitals.
"Rgh!" Amare groaned through her gritted teeth as the metal railings of the specialized medical bed bent underneath the pressure she exerted upon it. The nurses and doctor took their place around the medical bed as they began conveying instructions to her on what to do while the nurses prepared several instruments.
Amare's condition was more intense than almost any other he had ever seen in, save for her death. An ominous thought that he quickly dispelled before activating his Eye of Prophecy to monitor the future. Yet, he couldn't take his eyes off his pregnant partner. Her bronze skin was beaded with sweat while her eyes, normally rich with alacrity, flew around with pain and discomfort as she was exposed to intense experiences unlike anything she had ever experienced in her life or lives.
The atmosphere tingled electrically as a faint tension hung in the air despite the composed demeanors of the nurses and the doctor, even if Rui could sense some tensing of their facial muscles.
It was the first princess and not just any ordinary consort, unlike the previous emperor, but one who was highly powerful and important herself, and someone that the emperor clearly cared deeply for.
It caused the importance and the severity of the situation to affect them a little adversely.
Time slowed down in his eyes as his pupils dilated.
The weight of what was happening.
The intensity of what Amare was experiencing.
The tension that hung in the air.
And the realization that he was about to become a father.
