"Did you hear, it's the birth of a new princess!""Princess Ria Kandria, the first princess of the new Emperor!"
"I heard she's a real cutie!"
The announcement of the birth of the first royal princess spread throughout the Kandrian Empire, causing the nation to enter a festive mood. The nation was covered in flags bearing the crest of the Kandrian Empire while fairs and other festive activities were held by the nation, allowing the citizens to indulge in what was effectively a day off.
With the birth of the princess, the throne now had a clear successor should Rui ever choose to abdicate the throne. Princess Ria would be crowned the next Empress of the Kandrian Empire, even if she were merely a newborn baby, where provisions would be created to allow somebody else to manage the responsibilities of the throne.
Of course, nobody seriously thought that that was going to happen; the Emperor was immortal and was not going anywhere, having committed to ruling the Kandrian Empire. Still, any excuse for a holiday was accepted by the people, who straightforwardly celebrated the princess even if her birth didn't truly mean much for them on a day-to-day basis.
"Your Majesty, it may be a day off for the citizens, but you are the Emperor of the Kandrian Empire, you can't take the day off just to spend time with Her Highness."
In their private royal chamber, Secretary Claris folded her arms in a cross manner as she stared at Rui cooing at the newborn princess in a cutesy manner.
"Who's a good girl~" He poked at her cheeks, leaning in forward to kiss her on the forehead. "You are!"
Princess Ria smiled at him in a delightful manner, wagging her little, puffy arms as she stared at her father enthusiastically. Rui's ethereal eyes bore deep into her golden irises as he felt her nascent budding emotion. He could tell that she hadn't developed most emotions that people experienced yet; it was far too early for that.
But she could feel happiness.
And indeed, she was experiencing the joys of life as she was right now. That was enough for him. He found himself admiring her adorable traits. Her baby fat made her look so cute that it often gave Amare a heartache, requiring her to distance herself so that she could recover. While Rui wasn't nearly as vulnerable, he found himself drowning in her endless charms, unable to even care about anything else.
"Your Majesty."
He stiffened as Secretary Claris's tone grew chillingly intense, directing a wary gaze at the woman. Ever since she became immortal and regained a youthful vigor, she had become fiercely intense in her pursuit of him to fulfill his duties as Emperor.
He almost regretted making her immortal and giving her all that energy back, for it backfired on him when he wanted to look after his daughter. He much preferred the calmer older woman he had initially dealt with than the ferocious tiger of a secretary he had now.
"Did you not hear me, Your Majesty?" She growled.
It was scary.
Rui heaved a sigh. "We hear you, we're not going to skip out on our duties. But… just give us some more time."
He smiled at Ria. "Our dear princess here would like that as well, wouldn't she? Yes, she would~"
It appeared that Secretary Claris wasn't the only one taken aback by the changes to character. Rui cooed and played with his daughter just like any father, which contrasted sharply with the way he conducted himself before. Before, even if he wasn't the most domineering person and was surprisingly normal despite all of his power, he still possessed an unfathomable intensity about him. His words and actions moved people because of the extraordinary power behind them. However, before his daughter, he had been reduced to just another doting father drowning in his own love for his daughter. She could already tell that there was nothing she could do to drag him to the Royal Office, looking at the lovestruck state he was in. She simply heaved a sigh. "Very well, Your Majesty. Then I will simply give you the intelligence reports and updates on key issues right here and file reports on them in your stead."
"That sounds like a great idea," Rui's ethereal eyes nodded. "Go ahead with that. I don't mind working if I don't have to be separated from Ria. Oh… wait a minute!"
His eyes lit up. "What if we carry her in a baby carrier and take her to the Royal Office? That way, we can work and spend time with our daughter! It's genius, nobody has ever thought of this before!"
"Not only have countless people thought of it, but there are also even products sold to accommodate this idea, Your Majesty," she simply huffed, shaking her head lightly. "It seems that being drowned in love has reduced your intelligence and even further degenerated your already dwindling rationality."
"Hey, that's rude, you could be executed for insulting the Emperor. Also, invest one trillion ruels into the baby carrier market. Ria only deserves the absolute best of the best baby carriers!"
"We are a constitutional monarchy, Your Majesty. There is no law that criminalizes insulting a foolish Emperor who is too in love with his own newborn daughter to attend to his duties," she ruthlessly tore him down. "And we can't just throw one trillion ruels into the baby carrier industry, it would widen our deficit and cause our monthly interest payments to balloon out of control."
"…We are the most powerful person in this continent, you know?"
"It's certainly not something that one would realize looking at your conduct right now."
Rui was kneeling on the ground, with his arms on the bed, supporting his head as Ria played with his fingers, holding them like sticks in her tiny fingers, while he wore nothing but pajamas that he slept in.
It was not exactly the image that would come to mind when one thought of the most powerful man in the Panama Continent.
Rui couldn't be bothered; he simply continued filling his heart with Ria's adorable cuteness that was more bountiful than water in the ocean, or even in his Martial Art. It was so boundless that Rui could blissfully drown in her radiating adorable cuteness for centuries without ever getting bored.
Secretary Claris simply heaved a sigh, pulling out her royal communicator before immediately getting to work. If she didn't initiate pushing him to work, he would gladly spend the entire day just staring at Ria.
