As his spacecraft drew closer and closer, he grew more and more tense about the reaction of the gargantian specimen to his spacecraft's approach. He knew that the planet would not react merely to a small spacecraft approaching it, as proven by the fact that it hadn't when he had first approached it. This time, however, they were going to push the limits to test its reaction to a wormhole. As he drew closer and closer, his earphone buzzed with the voice of his handler. "The world bridge activation will commence soon."
RUMBLE
The spacecraft, as the portable world bridge apparatus on board, began humming with energy. Sage Ceeran grew even more tense as it began warping the very fabric of space and time.
Then, it opened a portal.
And the reaction was immediate.
RUMBLE
Garg began trembling as the portion of its surface facing Sage Ceeran began glowing brightly, and the depths of its body began displaying a tremendous amount of heat. Sage Ceeran felt his hair stand on end as he felt a truly astronomical and unfathomable amount of power emerge from within the depths of the planet.
Pointed towards him.
He immediately took his position before the compartment containing the world bridge apparatus, protecting it from any harm. He mobilized every ounce of materia prima at his disposal, activating his exo-Martial suit for what was coming.
It came quickly.
VMMMMMMMM!!!
A tremendously powerful laser of great intensity emerged from the depths of the planet, pointed in the direction of the spacecraft. The collision was catastrophic.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
"Rghhh!" Sage Ceeran gritted his teeth as he protected the compartment even as a titanic laser beam threatened to eviscerate him. The spacecraft around him immediately crumbled, exposing him to the vacuum of outer space as his suit began to burn.
WHOOSH
All of a sudden, he disappeared in the face of the devastatingly intense laser beams. WHOOSH
He appeared in a giant, tiled chamber in the fleet carrier of the 72nd fleet, gasping as he collapsed to the ground. He gazed around him with a stunned expression at the giant teleportation apparatus that had just pulled him out of an attack, protecting him even as he protected the world bridge chamber aboard the spacecraft.
BZZZT Admiral Drehlic's projection emerged right in front of him as a team of assistants and engineers immediately drew closer to help him up and inspect the compartment.
"All intact, from the looks of it. Well done," Admiral Drehlic nodded with an appreciative expression. "You have helped us gain valuable intelligence on the gargantian."
"Which is…?" Sage Ceeran coughed as he removed his exo-Martial suit.
"That it does react violently to wormholes even if the incoming spacecraft generating it is small," the admiral declared. "With this, we know what approach we can't take when trying to approach the planet without having to face its destructive retaliation."
"Well, I'm glad we're done. I'm getting some rest." Sage Ceeran stood up, trying to remove his exo-Martial suit.
"Done?" the admiral raised an eyebrow with a hint of amusement in his eyes. "We're just getting started, Sage Ceeran. We have several more experiments to run. We're here to test whether it will react if we hide the wormhole's gravitational signature with gravitational cloaking."
"Oh come on," Sage Ceeran protested.
"No complaints, Sage Ceeran. We are doing this at the behest of the Emperor's will himself. Now get ready."
Sage Ceeran found himself subjected to a whole slew of experiments that day, before finally falling into a coma to recover from his exhaustion. His contributions, however reluctant and resentful, helped the Gaian Alliance learn more and more about the gargantian specimen and what tactics and strategies were or weren't effective against it.
Specifically, they learned that small bogey and spacecrafts simply didn't evoke any reaction from the planet because of their size. The bigger the spaceship, the greater the chance that Garg would react as it drew closer.
They also learned that Garg undoubtedly had some kind of gravitational or extra-causal sensory apparatus to be able to detect wormholes almost instantly and respond extremely quickly. However, they also found that gravitational shielding of said wormholes was also effective against the specimen.
These little experiments allowed the Gaian Alliance back home to develop better tactics and strategies and flesh out the battle plan to capture, incapacitate, and study the reproductive method of the gargantian specimen.
Meanwhile, Gaian Civilization also grew busy with the future that had begun hurtling in their direction over the past few weeks. While political institutions in Gaia worked on the practical implementation of the Gaian Alliance, the Gaia Reproduction Plan, and the operation to capture Garg, the other power blocs of human civilization also made their own preparations for a future in the stars.
"Ten thousand stars in ten years, the Emperor of Water says," Deputy Commander Wiles remarked with a severe expression. "He has truly become ambitious after breaking into the Transcendent Realm."
In an isolated conference room in one of the most secretive military bases in East Moridia, the old evolutionary sat at the side of a table with a grim expression. He recalled the first time he had met Rui when Rui decided to randomly infiltrate the Evolutionary Army to speak to him about creating a shield for Gaian Civilization as a precautionary measure for when he confronted the 'alien virus.'
Several weeks had passed since then, and the world had completely changed in all manners since then. All the plans that the Evolutionary Army had had for the future were completely wiped out by the shocking developments that had happened since then. The Laminar Invasion and Battle, followed by the Nebular Invasion and the breakthrough of the Emperor of Water to the Transcendent Realm.
The plan to conquer ten thousand stars in ten years under the collective banner of the Gaian Alliance was so different from the previous considerations that he needed to create a whole new blueprint for the future of the Evolutionary Army.
"But we will prevail…" Deputy Commander Wiles' tone was one of certainty.
He turned towards a boy seated at the head of the conference table in the isolated conference room they were in. A young evolutionary with a remarkably transparent body for his age.
"We will prevail because we have you, Anthea."
