Chapter 4331: Prepare for War

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

"The Homoarachnoids have attacked!"

"Defend our homeland from the maddened six-legged!"

"Do not allow them to destroy our homes!"

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!

Although caught off guard, the Aquadite forces fought back, retaliating against the invading warships with a vast and powerful military force that deployed warships. The homoarachnoids had managed to use an initial element of surprise to inflict damage on the outskirts of their star system through their wormhole attacks.

Billions of aquadites perished in the initial wave of attacks. A civilization that had been lulled by an era of peace and stability along with cautious expansion was not on edge. When the war between the homoarachnoids and the dessandrites had begun, the aquadites had initially gotten their guard up in fear of the war spilling over its boundaries whether it liked it or not, but in the ten years since, they had grown accustomed to the war as the new status quo.

They had never imagined that the homoarachnoids would actually do something as crazy and aggressive as attack them for no apparent reason in the middle of a war against an opponent that was powerful enough to demand their full attention.

"Why have you attacked us?"

An ultrasonic voice spread across an aquatic environment, being quickly transmitted into signals that were then transmitted across many star systems into homoarachnoid territory through a communication wormhole.

In the depths of the Planet Arr’guarta, the homeworld of the Aquadites, an older male Aquadite sat atop a throne sculpted from solid water. His green body was covered in fibers woven from esoteric seaweed, imbued with special properties, both aesthetic and functional. Behind him were two aquadite guards, covered in head to toe with fluidic armor fashioned from esoteric-fluid blends.

Around the emperor were other homoarachnoids that stood by him, lower than him, as they all gazed at the hologram opposite him.

The hologram of a homoarachnoid.

The homoarachnoid was not a Divine Mother, which was to be expected. The S’rrigin, the title of Emperor within Aquadite Ocean Civilization, sharpened his eyes as he glared at the projection of the homoarachnoid ambassador to Aquadites.

The fact that the homoarachnoids only deigned to have merely an ambassador speak to the Aquadite S’rrigin after an attack on aquadite territory killing billions of aquadites was an insult of the highest order.

"I will not repeat myself," the S’rrigin growled ultrasonically. "Why have you attacked us?"

The homoarachnoid didn’t even hide the contempt that he had for the S’rrigin.

"Why. You. Ask? You. Dare. To. Pretend. Otherwise?"

The S’rrigin narrowed his eyes at those words. Aquadites had wider eyes than humans, making the gesture make his eyes more human, more than anything else.

But it was a gesture of anger.

"You. Dared. To. Attack. And. Kill. Our. Divine. Mother!"

The S’rrigin’s eyes widened at those words, returning to how they were normally. The sheer weight of the accusation that the ambassador had weighed against the S’rrigin simply beggared the imagination.

"What... did you just say?" The S’rrigin whispered.

"I. Believe. You. Have. Heard. Me. Loud. And. Clear," the homoarachnoid ambassador spoke with a frosty tone. "You. Have. Killed. Mother. O-o-o-o. And. We. Will. Never. Forget. It. Your. Entire. Civilization. Will. Pay. The. Price. For. Your. Actions."

BZZZT

The connection was cut.

The call came to an end.

It left the S’rrigin in a grave circumstance.

He had absolutely no idea what the ambassador was talking about. Frankly, he wasn’t even sure if it was true. The death of a Divine Mother would not be this quiet unless it occurred in very special circumstances.

His advisors quickly rushed to give their leader counsel.

"Your Excellency, you must retaliate against the homoarachnoids with everything you have," one of his advisors immediately urged him. "We have suffered a deadly attack that didn’t just target military targets; it has targeted our civilians. We have billions dead, and even more as we speak. And they continue to attack us!"

"I must concur with Lady Stariere, Your Excellency," another advisor spoke grimly. "It would be one thing if this were just a skirmish. But it is not just a skirmish. They have brazenly invaded our territory and massacred our people. If you do not retaliate proportionally, then I’m afraid you will lose your next election."

The S’rrigin was not a monarch; he was an elected leader in a democratically run civilization. A male who had been elected with his visions of expansion towards the Milky Way’s core.

His expression tightened. He knew that his advisors were right. The homoarachnoids had forced his hand, especially since they didn’t seem to have any intentions of stopping. Every second that he postponed his decision was an insult to the people who had been killed by the six-legged virus lovers.

There were no deliberations to be had, there were no debates to preside over, there were no caucuses that eh

"Prepare for war."

His tone was grim and decisive, but also bitter. The Aquadite Ocean Civilization had always been a civilization that avoided conflict as much as it could, especially since the environment that their species lived in was more scarce and delicate than the environments that many other lifeforms lived in.

It meant that war was more costly to them than it was to any other civilization in the Milky Way.

More than anything, the war would undoubtedly put on hold the plans for expansion of the aquadite civilization through the Milky Way. The vision of greatness that the man had compelled his fellow aquadites to elevate him to the highest office would freeze for the time being.

With war decreed, the aquadites immediately began to mobilize the war engine of their civilization even as the shock of the attack spread across the aquadite civilization. The S’rrigin purposefully allowed the information to flow so as to stoke the anger of his population to give his decision to retaliate against the homoarachnoids.

"One thing," he told his subordinates before they rushed to execute his command.

His eyes narrowed.

"Find out more about the death of the Divine Mother. It was not us, so I want to know exactly who is responsible for this."
