Chapter 4486: The Seventeenth Armada

Kane studied the man, nodding. "Good to meet you, Mr. Seaton. Can you help me understand exactly where I’m going to be deployed?"

Even though Kane wasn’t a part of the military, he had been commissioned through a complex conscription mechanism that entailed conscripting the Kandrian Empire, which in turn conscripted the Martial Union through the Kandrian Martial Covenant, which involved his own conscription. He hadn’t been given any details as to where he would be deployed, not yet.

"Unfortunately, because we are short on time, we haven’t been able to offer complete disclosure to all of our conscripts, even highly esteemed ones such as yourself," Mr. Seaton smiled at Kane apologetically. "But rest assured, I have received the details of your deployment. You will be deployed to the Empiercer LXXVI of the 26th Sol Carrier Fleet in the Seventeenth Armada of the Strategic World Bridge Force."

Kane raised an eyebrow at those words as he tried recollecting the training that he had undergone shortly after the Era of Expansion had commenced. Astronaval operations and command were extraordinarily complex and required all cogs of the machine to fully comprehend their role and place in the machine. Thus, all pathwalkers had, in one way or another, been forced to go through training programs that not only broke down the taxonomy of the space forces, ship and fleet classifications, and command structure, but also training on the most common astronaval operations to ensure that the astronavy could maintain a degree of sophistication.

Unfortunately, he had forgotten most of it. Although he had been given a neural implant, unlike the youth and adults who had spent much of their lives in the Era of Expansion, he had not developed a habit of frequently using it or integrating it with his thought patterns.

"Could you explain where I fit in that fleet and where that fleet fits in the Gaian Space Force again?" He coughed. "Not that I forgot, not at all, but you know... would help to brush up."

Mr. Seaton directed a wry smile at Kane. He didn’t seem surprised or alarmed that Kane had no idea where a pathwalker like him would fit in the astronaval command. Of course, the Gaian Space Force was fully prepared for the less intellectually inclined kind of pathwalkers like Martial Artists and giants, screwing up the details. Liaisons like Mr. Seaton had been trained specifically to account for that and smooth things over.

"Of course, Your Corporeality," he addressed Kane with the mouthful of an honorific used for Martial Corporeals. "It is part of my duties to ensure that you are up to speed on the command and naval structures. It’s not that difficult to understand. All the warships and war fleets that you see coming to the Solar System are coming to be a part of the Strategic World Bridge Force, which is basically all forces that will be deployed through the Greater World Bridge present in our solar system."

Kane nodded with an attentive expression.

"The Strategic World Bridge Force is composed of roughly a hundred and thirty-five armadas," Mr. Seaton explained patiently. "Each of which possesses anywhere between five and ten fleets. Each fleet possesses, on average, around a hundred ships, though these numbers can vary."

Kane’s eyes widened at those numbers. Of course, he knew that human civilization had managed to manufacture an enormous number of ships in just a mere thirteen years, but to think that there were such an enormous number at their disposal nonetheless.

He turned in the direction of the central forge around Sol with an amazed expression. "Those ship construction fellows just keep pumping at it, huh?"

The central forge was one of the layers of rings around the sun that used its power directly to construct and manufacture all kinds of space infrastructure, but mainly spaceships, much of which was composed of demand for warships.

"They’re called shipyards, but yes, they certainly have given us many warships at our disposal," Mr. Seaton smiled at Kane. "But coming back to the point, there are many kinds of fleets and many kinds of armadas which we do not get into. They all serve their own purposes in war. What is relevant to you is the structure and purpose of your own Armada."

The man transmitted the details of the Seventeenth Armada to Kane, who read up on it with an impressed expression. It contained a total of twelve fleets with nearly fifteen hundred ships in its entirety.

What stood out to him was that the twelve fleets were radically different from each other in many ways, which was expected to an extent due to how diverse human civilization was. He could see fleets that were entirely made up of strange, yet familiar biotechnological ships comprising uneven chitinous bark wood for their hull. These were undoubtedly warships built by the elves.

He saw fleets made up of whale-like creatures; these too were familiar enough to him as those of the therianthrope forces.

Then he saw fleets that were made up of beautiful architecture with a luster that seemed almost otherworldly. Undoubtedly, these were dwarven warships endowed with their special properties. He saw the cyborg warships comprising organic and inorganic compositions. He also spotted the familiar ship style associated with the powers of the Panama Continent.

Those were the ships that had the highest proportion of esoteric matter in their hulls. Although esoteric matter had long been spread to the rest of human civilization, the Panama Continent still had the highest reserves of it for obvious reasons, separating their war fleets from the rest.

The 26th Sol Carrier Fleet that Kane was assigned to was among them.

"The Armada that you are a part of is the Seventeenth Armada and is the most well-equipped and most powerful armada, with the greatest war and combat assets of human civilization," Mr. Seaton explained. "And you have been chosen to be among them because you are one of our greatest combat assets. You are in the top hundred pathwalkers of human civilization, and you will play a great role that will be recorded in the annals of history."
