Chapter 4549: Seeking Knowledge

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

When Rui got back from human civilization, his subordinates and colleagues had absolutely no idea what he had just accomplished. He had chosen not to tell them, either. There was no need, and such information was always shared entirely on a need to know basis.

The first thing he did was go to Dwight’s place.

"His Excellency Transcendent Dwight is not here," his assistant, a dwarf named Steth, had told him. "He has entered the manifold in space."

"Oh, right," Rui muttered, having forgotten about that. "Oh well. I’ll leave him be. He’s doing important work, undoubtedly."

The dwarf nodded. "His Excellency has commenced an extremely important project that will take a lot of time."

Rui had an idea of what that project was, no doubt. Dwight was one of seven engineers who designed and crafted God’s Hammer, a combat asset so incredibly powerful that it managed to retain its top ten status despite numerous challengers and powerful contenders emerging in the past thirteen years.

Rui would be lying if he said he wasn’t looking forward to the upgraded God’s Hammer. Dwight had already created a product that Rui had personally witnessed take on a Divine Mother of all people by itself, almost. In comparison, God’s Hammer was a much, much more dedicated and extremely well-resourced project.

When God’s Hammer was upgraded... dwarven civilization will have likely closed the Transcendent gap between them and the Kandrian Empire entirely. Although Dwight had broken through, he could not directly convert his Transcendence into military might in a battle.

He needed to craft weapons to do the fighting for him.

God’s Hammer would be the first project on that list.

Rui estimated that once they completed the project, human civilization would have gained a second Transcendent combat asset. There were only three Transcendent combat assets, and only two of

"He told me to thank you for the liberal opening of the Kandrian Greater Manifold to the rest of human civilization. He said he owes you one."

Rui waved his hand dismissively. "He gave me really effective armor for free. I don’t consider that to be a debt."

He departed with a resigned sigh. Of course, he could use his Martialverse to enter the manifold without the cumbersome process of opening and closing it out of schedule; he decided against it. He didn’t want to disturb the dwarf while he was working on an important project.

He had hoped to consult the dwarf on string theory and higher dimensions and figure out how to leverage them in a more sophisticated manner. "Though I suppose I should get my hands on the basic theory now. I never felt the need to study it because I’ve heard it’s purely mathematical and deeply disconnected from empirical reality."

Having found an extremely interesting realm of potential to pursue as his next Martial project, he was eager to get started.

His commpad began buzzing, drawing his attention. His eyes sharpened when he saw that it was Deputy Commander Wiles of the Evolutionary Army calling, one of the more prominent members of Central Human Command.

"What is it?" he asked when the projection of the Evolutionary Army lit up before him.

"Your Majesty, we just received intelligence that the arakai have begun to commence the harnessing of our stars!" The deputy commander’s expression was extremely serious. "They have decided to consolidate the star system even before they finish repairing their interdiction fleet. Not just that, but we have detected salvager fleets that are gathering space rubble, most likely to speed up the repair process."

"Hmmm..." Rui frowned. He had used Eye of Prophecy on them a few days earlier and had predicted that it would take a month for them to repair all of their destroyed interdiction vessels and infrastructure. At the time, he hadn’t foreseen that they would begin making moves on the native resources before the interdiction fleet was repaired.

It was possible that the Eye of Prophecy simply didn’t foresee this by chance. The ability’s results weren’t stable outside of combat situations. However, he suspected that a change had occurred because of the actions that he had caused.

He had no doubt that the Divine Mother aboard the Web Bringer mothership had heard of what he had done. It was possible that this event had affected the strategic outlook of the Web of War.

If more Divine Mothers of the War Faction fell, then the war’s support would become tenuous, and eventually it would be called back. Thus, the War Faction would undoubtedly be pressed to win this war as soon as possible. A month’s time was too much considering that three Divine Mothers disappeared in one day.

He shook his head.

He no longer cared about the strategic outlook of the war that much.

"You guys can figure it out." he waved them away. "You don’t need me. I won’t be partaking in council meetings for a while."

The deputy commander grew stunned. "Excuse me?"

"You have a bunch of experts in military, naval warfare, and intelligence," he scoffed. "You guys can handle it. Don’t disturb me with minor issues."

He ended the call, considering his next option. He wanted to immediately move to the manifold and begin developing hyperdimensional techniques or even a hyperdimensional Realm, but he knew that in this case, it was better not to get to the development part right off the bat.

It was best to start with the research.

"I need to get some textbooks on String Theory," he muttered to himself. "And I also would benefit from talking to an expert on the topic."

He considered speaking to the Esoterist, but that man didn’t give a damn if something wasn’t esoteric. And even if esoteric matter might have had some relations with hyperdimensional reality, he only cared about applications, rather than investigating the nature.

"Hmmm... the Kandrian Empire has a sizeable number of immortal sages and sage candidates," he skimmed through the list in his mind palace. "I’m sure I can find somebody here who has dedicated their life to String Theory."
