Fwoooosh.Chamber narrowed her eyes at the Demonic Energy creeping toward her.
‘Even after moving through space, the Demonic Energy still follows….’
Perhaps it was because of the magic called the Dark Spirit World, but even after traveling a long distance, Demonic Energy from the Devildom was still rising from the sky and earth.
She wanted to weaken the Black Tower Lord, even a little, but it seemed she had no choice but to fight under somewhat unfavorable conditions.
‘Well, when have I ever not been at a disadvantage?’
Her magic was not well-suited against the Black Tower Lord. She was used to fighting from behind, so this much was familiar.
“I’ll get rid of you, and then kill that variable as well.”
When the Black Tower Lord formed a triangle with both hands, the faintly rising Demonic Energy thickened and began dyeing the world in darkness. Mana was driven back, and the deep, heavy Demonic Energy filled its place. The Dark Spirit World he created continued here as well.
“No, even if I miss you, I will kill him.”
The Black Tower Lord revealed stronger wrath and murderous intent toward Raon than toward her.
“Go ahead.”
Chamber crooked her finger at him.
“If you can.”
As a smile appeared on her lips, a magnificent blue light surged from the staff floating in midair.
Wooooooom!
Though the Blue Light Staff contained no divine power, it pushed away the Demonic Energy of the Devildom and spread the pure Mana of nature.
“I’ll see how long that ugly smile lasts.”
With arrogant eyes, the Black Tower Lord reached out his hand. Dreary, sinister Demonic Energy flared above his palm.
Fwaaash!
Every movement of the Black Tower Lord was a formula and a spell in itself. The Demonic Energy born from his gestures sharpened like a beast’s fangs, falling as if to tear Chamber apart.
“You’re not even qualified to judge my smile.”
Chamber flicked her wrist, and the waves of Mana grew stronger, dissolving the fangs of Demonic Energy.
“A worm that’s lived its whole life in a hole.”
As she brought her fingers together, streaks of blue light burst from the staff and poured toward the Black Tower Lord.
Rumbleeeee!
Each beam carried the power of a high-level spell, but not a single one could shake him. The blue lights melted away without piercing his dark robe.
“Demonic Lord’s Robe….”
Chamber frowned at the curtain-like waves flowing from his robe.
“That damned thing really is troublesome.”
That robe was a legendary artifact engraved with the Black Tower Lord’s true magic. It absorbed all physical and magical attacks—ordinary spells or martial skills could not so much as scratch him. The Black King Sigel’s robe had been a downgraded version of this Demonic Lord’s Robe.
“Let’s see how long you can endure.”
Chamber pressed her nose bridge as glowing magic formulas etched themselves onto the faint blue light.
Wooooooom!
The simple beams of Mana transformed. A dragon of fire soared upward, a massive sword of frost plummeted down, and a green typhoon swept across the heavens. A bombardment of supreme spells.
‘Will it work?’
She narrowed her eyes at the explosions striking the robe.
‘No, even if it doesn’t, I can’t stop attacking.’
What was the most important thing in a battle between archmages?
Some would say Mana and magical power, some the rank of spells, others strategy and tactics.
But there was one truth all agreed upon.
‘Space.’
The mage who could pressure and consume the opponent’s space was the victor. It was an established theory.
Of course, Chamber believed there was something even more important than spatial control, but for now, she had to reduce the Black Tower Lord’s foothold.
Craaaaash!
But unfortunately, even her chain of supreme spells couldn’t penetrate the robe and vanished in vain.
“The Demonic Lord’s Robe has gotten stronger.”
She frowned at the robe, not a single piece torn.
‘Before, at least burn marks were left.’
In the past, it couldn’t completely block supreme spells—they left burns or tears. But now, spells had no effect at all. It seemed he had refined it further.
“Now it’s my turn.”
The Black Tower Lord overlapped his hands diagonally, and black chains sprouted from the blue light. Stretching in all directions, they sought to devour the space Chamber was holding.
“Did you forget in the joy of your ambush?”
He tilted his chin at her.
“Your magic doesn’t work on me. No—I am the nemesis of all magicians.”
His lips twisted as if to mock her to resist more.
“The lamp of glory shall not go out even in the darkness.”
Chamber bit into her candy and raised her bent wrist. Blue flames blazed upon her palm like a lantern.
Fwooosh!
The countless black chains turned to gray ash the moment they touched the blue flames. For the first time, Mana devoured Demonic Energy.
‘With this, it’s possible.’
The Azure Lotus Flame was a spell that burned everything it touched. No matter how thick the Demonic Energy, it couldn’t endure this flame.
“Azure Lotus Flame.”
The Black Tower Lord clicked his tongue as he watched his chains melt.
“Indeed, that flame could burn even the Demonic Energy of the Devildom. But….”
He raised his chin, and the black chains no longer burned. They even began suppressing the flame.
“Did you think you had the advantage just because your stored Demonic Energy was dispersed?”
He laughed as black ripples spread from his palm.
“As long as the Dark Spirit World is complete, Demonic Energy is always with me.”
He erased her flame and shook his head.
“Meanwhile, you consumed immense Mana to disrupt it. This battle was decided from the start.”
He waved dismissively. Black chains now bound even Chamber and her staff.
“……”
Chamber said nothing, focusing only on the blue flame at her staff’s tip.
“Space is important in battles between magicians, but it isn’t everything.”
He shook his chin as if lecturing.
“That textbook reliance is your fatal flaw.”
When he flicked his hand as if to finish it, the chains tightened sharply.
“Tch.”
He scoffed and began to turn away.
Craaaaash!
Blue flames surged from the chains, spreading through every connected space. In an instant, all the chains blanketing the world melted away in fire.
Whooom!
Through the scattering fragments, Chamber emerged. No longer a child, but a mature woman. She raised her long fingers.
“I’ve nothing to learn from the likes of you. So shut that mouth.”
She removed her shrunken witch’s hat. As she tossed back her crimson hair, her golden eyes flashed with ultimate Mana.
“That form… Did you use Forbidden Arts?”
The Black Tower Lord’s lips trembled in shock.
“A woman’s transformation is always innocent. Don’t ask.”
Chamber rolled her shoulders with ease.
“Fine. No matter how you change, killing you is all that matters!”
He clasped his hands, summoning aberrant creatures of darkness. Not demons, not fiends, but beings drenched in thicker Demonic Energy, rushing at her.
“How filthy.”
Her lips curled.
“Your summoning arts always are.”
His summoning magic was unlike normal—monsters immune to physical force and resistant to magic, blending the strengths of summoning and spirit conjuring.
Whooom.
As he spread his hand, Chamber’s Mana was drawn into him. The blue sparkles turned into Demonic Energy and merged with his body.
“Stop playing small and go all out.”
She erected a Mana barrier, but even the Mana within it was absorbed.
“Small words. I wonder if you can say that with all your blood and flesh torn away.”
The Black Tower Lord tightened his hold, summoning creatures and draining her Mana.
“You won’t even get a chance to resist—”
“Finishing move.”
Chamber raised her joined fingers to her eyes.
“Fracture of Emptiness.”
The moment her voice fell, shockwaves pierced space like an awl. The summoned beasts were erased, the Demonic Lord’s Robe shredded.
“Wh-what….”
He stared at his own blood with trembling lips. The robe torn, his flesh ripped.
“You wretch! What did you do!”
He glared with ruby eyes.
“I told you—let’s go all out.”
Though wounded, Chamber didn’t relax her focus.
“I’ve surpassed you. Darkness is no longer invincible.”
Darkness’s nature was absorption. Until now, she hadn’t broken through. But by strengthening her body and Mana, her finishing move shattered it.
“Bullshit!”
He erased his wound, grinding his teeth.
“Then feel it again. Finishing move—Fracture of Emptiness.”
She invoked it again, and his darkness itself was torn from space.
Slaaash!
He tried to hold it with concentrated Demonic Energy, but her spell erased the very space.
Thuuud!
In an instant clash of Mana, Chamber’s space slash pierced his chest.
“Guh!”
He coughed blood, his body trembling with pain he hadn’t felt in decades.
But Chamber didn’t stop. She invoked again.
“Finishing move—Field of Magic.”
The Black Tower Lord responded with his own finishing move. A compressed darkness to erase everything ahead—but now used only to block her.
Ruuumble!
Their transcendent techniques clashed, purple sparks storming across the heavens.
“Do you truly wish to die?”
He gnashed his teeth.
“Why would I die?”
Chamber smirked.
“You’re the only one dying here.”
She unleashed Fracture of Emptiness again.
“Damn bitch!”
He roared and spread the Field of Magic once more.
Craaaash!
Darkness was torn, replaced by more darkness, only to be consumed again. A clash between a spell that cut all, and one that absorbed all.
Ruuuumble!
They remained locked in a terrifying contest, neither moving. To the outside, nothing seemed to change—the battle was too fast.
Drip.
Blood fell from Chamber’s nose, blue veins bulged on his skin. Both were pushing past the brink.
Even coughing blood, she didn’t stop. He too had no choice but to keep defending.
Their finishing moves collided, collapsing space itself, purple currents flooding the skies.
—
Ruuumble!
The Black Tower Lord gritted his teeth, barely holding back the endless Fractures.
‘She’s insane. No sane person could do this!’
A finishing move was meant to be used once—devastating even to oneself.
But Chamber was unleashing it as if it were ordinary magic, radiating intent to kill him even at the cost of her life.
‘The problem is….’
He had no other choice either.
Her Fractures pierced his robe, injured his body and soul. If struck again, he would fall. He had to keep using his own.
‘If this continues, it’s mutual destruction.’
Though his attribute gave him advantage, at this pace, both would die.
‘Damn it….’
He had one more card besides the Dark Spirit World, but couldn’t use it here. He had to end it now.
‘A way. A way—ah!’
As he struggled, his eyes caught sight of the black fragments behind her—his earlier summons.
‘Those….’
He diverted Mana into them.
Whooom!
Fed with Demonic Energy, the creatures shrieked in ecstasy and swelled.
‘Kill Chamber!’
At his command, they bit her flesh, crushed her bones. They were small, but as beings of Demonic Energy, they could tear human flesh with ease.
“Finishing move—Fracture of Emptiness.”
Yet even as her flesh and bones were destroyed, she never lowered her joined fingers.
Slaaash!
Her technique broke the Field of Magic, piercing his chest again. Her focus held—his faltered.
“What….”
His lips trembled. Wounds from Demonic Energy brought unbearable pain and fever, yet she still maintained her spell.
“Arghhh!”
He shouted, ordering the creatures to kill her fully, while once more casting his Field.
“Finishing move.”
Blood streaming, she still refused to relent.
“Fracture of Emptiness.”
The Field warped, his shoulder shattered.
“W-wait—”
“Finishing move—Fracture of Emptiness.”
He couldn’t even form the Field now. Her spell tore his robe, pierced his chest again.
“Guhh….”
He collapsed to his knees, tormented in body and mind.
“Finishing move.”
Though he had fallen, she did not stop. With skeletal fingers, she invoked once more.
“Fracture of Emptiness.”
“Damn….”
With his last weakened curse, the final strands of Demonic Energy burst apart.
Boooom!
