Acker Holloway’s Chuunibyou ability had actually forced reality itself to manifest an Avatar of Buddha solely for him.The existence of Buddha and Buddhism were the greatest of Acker’s delusions and fantasies. They were what had made him who he was today, the very foundation of all his delusions and unwavering beliefs. Without them, there would be no Acker Holloway.
Everyone simply watched as the golden being descended towards the earth. No... he didn’t actually touch the ground, for the very moment he landed, blooming golden lotuses spread across the entire battlefield, covering all one hundred kilometres.
The entire crowd held their breath. They couldn’t believe what they were witnessing. They had called Acker delusional, called him insane, mocked him with every name imaginable, but now, upon witnessing the manifestation of his belief, none of them dared blink, let alone breathe.
The Buddha Avatar standing before everyone wasn’t a real god. It was merely a manifestation of Acker’s own delusions and unwavering beliefs. If anyone else prayed to Buddha or followed Buddhism, they wouldn’t receive blessings or miracles of any kind. Everything happening at this moment functioned solely because of Acker’s Chuunibyou ability, nothing more and nothing less.
The Buddha Avatar simply walked towards Acker, who remained kneeling with his eyes tightly shut, as though laying his own eyes upon Buddha Himself would be the greatest sacrilege imaginable.
"Rest well, My Child," the Buddha Avatar spoke as he gently placed a hand upon Acker’s head.
The instant the Buddha Avatar did so, Acker’s body became bathed in the same divine radiance emanating from the Avatar itself. Every wound upon his body healed immediately, his stamina was completely restored, and his Astra veins swelled as his Astra energy reserves were replenished, a feat impossible for even the greatest healers. Immediately afterwards, Acker collapsed forward, his unconscious body landing upon a bed of blooming golden lotuses as mental exhaustion finally claimed him.
The Buddha Avatar’s half-lidded golden eyes shifted towards Asher. That same faint smile, filled with warmth and boundless wisdom, remained upon His face as He spoke.
"Child, no victory born of violence can bring lasting peace. Release your desire to fight, and I shall bestow upon you a blessing," His tone remained as compassionate as ever.
’Is Buddha offering me a bribe?’ Asher mused to himself as he simply watched, not believing in the so-called blessing. He trusted his System far more than whatever blessing the Buddha Avatar claimed to offer.
’I wonder if the Buddha is as decisive as Acker when it comes to fighting,’ Asher thought to himself.
Without losing the wise, gentle smile upon His face, the Buddha Avatar spoke calmly. "You leave Me no choice, Child."
’Here it comes,’ Asher thought to himself as he prepared for battle.
"Nirvana Requiem," the Buddha Avatar stated calmly as He activated an ability.
The very next moment, an ivory-gold dome of energy burst outward from His body, effortlessly encompassing the entire one-hundred-kilometre battlefield. Asher couldn’t understand what was happening. He neither saw nor sensed any incoming attack, yet something struck him all the same.
Why was he fighting? Wasn’t he only causing more suffering for others? Weren’t there other ways to accomplish his goals besides violence? Shouldn’t humanity spread love instead of hatred? Why must people fight? Why must blood be shed?
Those who died were someone’s children. Someone’s fathers. Someone’s sons. Someone’s daughters. Someone’s mothers.
Peace... Calm... Meditation...
Those were the true ways of life.
The moment those thoughts surfaced within Asher’s mind, he opened his mouth to announce his surrender.
But before the words could leave his lips, familiar chime echoed through his consciousness.
[Ding]
[Detected that the Host is under a soul- and mind-suggestive ability that erases all will to fight]
And with that clarity instantly returned to Asher’s mind, his half-open mouth immediately snapped shut.
The very next moment, the ivory-gold dome of energy vanished as the Buddha Avatar calmly remarked,
"Oh... You resisted." His tone remained tranquil.
Yet He seemed completely unbothered. The very next moment, He slowly raised a hand, His palm facing towards Asher. An ivory-gold halo of a fixed circumference materialized a few inches before His palm, and from it erupted an oppressive torrent of ivory-gold energy in the form of a beam that surged straight towards Asher.
Asher didn’t retreat a single step. He wasn’t fooled. With his Perfect Astra Control, he knew the ivory-gold energy manipulated by the Buddha Avatar was nothing more than Astra energy itself. And when it came to pure Astra reserves, Asher lacked nothing whatsoever. He raised his own hand, his palm facing the incoming attack as he unleashed his own Astra reserves in earnest.
Like a deafening thunderclap, both Astra beams collided violently, distorting reality and space itself as colours lashed outward and smeared into one another. Space cracked apart, repaired itself, cracked once more, then healed again as though reality itself couldn’t decide whether it wished to remain intact.
The next moment, the Buddha Avatar withdrew His attack, seemingly realizing that continuing the clash would merely waste Astra energy. Without hesitation, He immediately transitioned into another technique.
"Mantra of Stillness," His voice echoed like a divine bell.
The very next moment, Asher felt his body freeze in place beneath the influence of an unknown ability. His senses rippled, his Omni Perception immediately shifting skyward as he sensed an enormous quantity of Astra energy gathering above him.
There, high in the heavens, the Buddha Avatar floated serenely. Directly beneath Him rested a colossal golden palm, facing downward as though prepared to flatten everything beneath it, as it encompassed the entire one hundred kilometre battlefield.
"Palm of the World-Honored One," the Buddha Avatar’s voice rang out once again. And with that, the colossal palm descended towards the immobilized Asher.
As the attack approached, Asher simply teleported away, his body vanishing in a flicker before reappearing directly above the descending palm. The instant he materialized, he shot towards the Buddha Avatar with a devastating punch.
The Buddha Avatar immediately moved to respond, but the moment He did, an invisible blade silently streaked through His neck. The Avatar paused. The very next moment, His head separated cleanly from His shoulders with terrifying ease.
[Song Of Virelass: Space Stanza: Spatial Divider]
The Buddha Avatar had been decapitated.
The colossal golden palm, moments away from crushing the battlefield, immediately dispersed into particles of light before disappearing completely.
The Buddha Avatar’s severed head slowly turned towards Asher, who floated silently in the sky as gravity gently pulled the head downward.
"It was nice meeting you, Child," He said with that same compassionate smile upon His face. The very next moment, both the Avatar’s head and body dissolved into motes of light before fading entirely from existence.
Asher didn’t say a word. Although the appearance of the Buddha Avatar had genuinely surprised him, he hadn’t come here to exchange endless attacks with the manifestation.
The Asher who had charged the Buddha Avatar with a punch had been nothing more than a decoy that Asher had created beforehand. The moment the colossal golden palm descended and obscured the Avatar’s vision, Asher had immediately capitalized on that brief opening.
He slowly descended towards the ground, his feet landing beside the unconscious Acker, who slept peacefully upon the golden lotuses.
Asher then raised his head towards the only remaining figure seated in the arena; Arianna Haellight.
He didn’t speak this time, fhere was no need to, she was the only remaining student left.
