As they got to their building and stepped into the lobby, Asher turned to his friends and gave them a heads-up. If not, he was sure they would all gather in his room again."I have something personal I have to do, so I need to be alone for a while," he stated as they began to leap upwards from one staircase railing to another as they ascended, none of them ever using the staircase itself more than once or twice since their admission into the Star Academy.
As they landed on the staircase railing of the top floor, they turned to Asher and nodded. While they may always gather in his room, at the end of the day, he had the right to tell them not to visit him if he wanted.
"Does it have to do with your early graduation application?" Ryaen asked.
Asher nodded in reply without a word.
The group simply nodded as they landed on the ground from the railings.
"Whatever the Principal says, we await your feedback," William spoke as he turned towards his own room and walked away, waving at Asher.
Finch, who followed behind him, also spoke, "Don’t forget to tell us about your last day here so we can send you off."
Vaelric and Ryaen simply nodded at Asher before they turned and both entered William’s room. Asher stared at them for a moment before he turned and stepped into his room.
Entering, he collapsed onto the bed. He didn’t exactly have anything to do, as he had said earlier. He simply wanted to be alone to think about how to meet Cindralis. After all, it wasn’t as if the woman’s office was public knowledge.
He had wanted to talk to Cindralis about the graduation thing while he was on stage, but he had decided against it, as that would have been very stupid.
’Should I meet an Instructor, like Instructor Jane or Instructor Melissa, to take me to the Principal?’ he thought to himself.
But from what he had seen thus far, even if some of these Instructors were Crownstar Life Rankers, they didn’t seem to have easy access to Cindralis.
’Sigh...’ Asher closed his eyes as he sighed.
Suddenly, his eyes snapped open as he remembered something. A couple of months back, after meeting with the Principal, Vice Principal Berion had given him an orb and told him to contact him whenever he wanted. But because he had no reason to contact the old man or Cindralis until now, he had simply forgotten about it.
His thoughts shifted towards his space ring, and the next moment, the orb appeared in his hand. Asher stared at it for a moment, wondering whether to crush it to contact the Vice Principal or simply channel Astra Energy into it. But he didn’t think for long as he simply chose the safest approach and channeled Astra Energy into it.
But nothing happened. The orb didn’t give a glow or anything of the sort, nor did the usual image of someone appear with it. Asher waited for a couple of minutes, but still, nothing happened. So he decided to just crush it.
With that decision made, he clenched his fist, and the orb shattered into pieces like a twig. Before the shards could fall to the ground, pale-white flames ignited instantly, immediately reducing them to nothingness.
Asher stayed silent for a couple of seconds as though waiting for the old man to respond, but again, nothing happened. As he was about to sigh in disappointment for wasting the orb and being too hasty, the space within his room shook as a dark-blue portal tore open.
From the portal, Berion stepped out with calm ease, his bearing the same as the last time Asher saw him. His white hair and white beard were still perfectly arranged as usual. He was dressed in a white robe that matched his hair, his skin still as wrinkled as before.
"It’s been a couple of months since I gave you the orb, finally decided to use it?" Berion stated, his tone sarcastic as the portal closed behind him, his black eyes landing on Asher with a small smile.
Asher rose to his feet as he greeted him, "I greet the Vice Principal," his tone calm.
Berion nodded as he spoke, "So, what do you need me for? I’m kind of busy these days organising and investigating the backgrounds of the eligible first-year students," he stated with a calm smile.
But before Asher could even reply, Berion’s eyes shifted towards Asher’s laptop and monitor setup, then his eyes turned towards the living room. He seemed to possess some kind of X-ray vision as he saw through the wall, his eyes falling on the television and the game.
"Smuggling things into the Star Academy is grounds for expulsion, but I guess I’m getting blind in my old age," he stated as he simply decided to overlook it.
He wasn’t exactly a sucker for rules, even if he reported it to his Master, he was sure she would ignore it too.
Asher simply gave a small smile, not exactly bothered with the Vice Principal finding out about his ’illegal’ gadgets. He simply decided to get straight to the point, since the man said he was busy. Not that he had anything else to say anyway, or any reason to waste the man’s time.
"I need to meet with the Principal, but her study room isn’t exactly public knowledge," he stated as his purple eyes met Berion’s black ones.
"What for?" Berion asked, as he couldn’t just take Asher to meet Cindralis simply because he asked, or just because he had won the Inter-Empire competition. Even if Cindralis had all the time in the world to spare, he had to be sure that the Tenth Sun was requesting a meeting for something reasonable.
Asher didn’t bother staying silent about his plans for early graduation. There was no way Cindralis wouldn’t tell Berion. The man was the Vice Principal, after all.
"I want to apply for an early graduation," he stated flatly and without a change in expression.
Hearing Asher’s words, Berion arched an eyebrow in confusion. When Asher had called him here, he had naturally considered various scenarios for the reason the Tenth Sun had finally decided to use the orb he had given him a few months back.
Berion didn’t say a word. He didn’t exactly have the power to decline Asher’s request, as only the Principal could accept or decline it.
"Wait here. I will inform the Principal first, and if she wants to meet you, then I will take you to her. If she doesn’t, then I’m afraid your plans for early graduation may have been rejected," he stated in a calm tone.
Asher nodded and said nothing else. Berion simply turned as another portal opened up behind him. The moment he stepped through it, the portal snapped shut.
Asher decided to just wait for the man, so he sat on the bed with his phone in his hand as he scrolled through various reels.
Berion didn’t waste time. In two minutes, he was back as another portal opened within Asher’s room.
"The Principal accepts your meeting," Berion’s voice came from the other side of the portal as he didn’t bother entering Asher’s room again.
Asher rose to his feet and stepped through the portal as it snapped shut behind him.
