Asher looked around; this was the first time he was entering Malrik’s room. But there wasn’t exactly anything special here. Although it had a different design and was bigger than his own room... it was still just a room, so Asher lost interest immediately, his mind snapping back to what Malrik had just said.
’Although personally, I would love to go to one where there is constant battle,’ he thought to himself as he sat on a couch. ’With Virelass, injuries aren’t a problem, only death is, and with my Absolute Physique, fatigue won’t be a problem either.’ His brain spun as he considered the possibilities.
"Since I won’t be joining you, I have someone for you to recruit," Asher spoke, his mind shifting to Teo Swig.
Malrik lowered himself into another couch as he spoke, "You are recommending someone? Now that’s surprising." He stared at Asher for a moment, then spoke, "Let me guess, a student who just graduated from the Star Academy?"
Asher nodded his head, not surprised that Malrik had deduced that much. After all, he, Asher, didn’t have any friends who graduated early like him, meaning a recently graduated student was the only explanation since he had no friends outside of the Star Academy.
Asher then proceeded to explain Teo Swig’s situation to Malrik. Although he didn’t bother telling Teo Swig’s business to Finch and the rest, Malrik was different.
"Hooo!!! So you were the one who killed Viscount Raymond," Malrik stated with an amused expression.
Asher simply nodded, not denying it, as he had no reason to.
"No problem then," Malrik agreed. "I saw his battles during the Inter-Empire tournament. He is indeed quite talented, so I will do my own personal investigation, and when I see no red flags, he can join," he stated, as he had no reason not to recruit a potential Crownstar Life Ranker into his Frontier.
This was jackpot for him.
As for why Asher recommended Teo Swig to Malrik, it was simple. Now that Viscount Raymond was dead and Teo Swig had graduated, other Nobles would spring into action. After all, Viscount Raymond was the one keeping other Nobles in check from taking his "fresh meat" from him.
And if Teo Swig remained independent, even if his family became residents of the Wargrave Territory, it didn’t mean other Nobles couldn’t get to them.
But with the Frontier, nobody would dare make a move. Also, at the Frontier, soldiers could leave whenever they felt like they couldn’t stay any longer and stuff like that. Unlike Knights, where someone can’t just wake up one morning and decide to quit. At the Knight Order, you either die for your Lord or retire because of old age and injuries from war and battle; anything out of these three is unacceptable.
So, basically, Teo Swig still had his freedom.
But it was just a recommendation; whether Teo Swig accepted or not had nothing to do with him. And as for how Malrik was going to see Teo Swig, such things were easy, and besides, Teo Swig was coming here from the Raymond Viscounty for his parents.
"Do you have any other person to recommend?" Malrik asked. He already had thousands of soldiers under him, and he had just received a soldier with Crownstar Life Ranker potential for free. Naturally, he had gotten a bit greedy.
Asher fell into his thoughts. He didn’t exactly know anyone else. But as he was about to shake his head, another person came to his mind.
"I do, but this guy is a bit special. You might have to pay something," Asher replied as he stared at Malrik with a smile.
Malrik arched an eyebrow for a moment, then asked, "What do you want?"
Asher didn’t exactly need anything, but as he was about to tell Malrik he was playing around, his purple eyes fell on the katana hanging on the man’s waist. His eyes flashed with interest as he asked.
"Tell me about your Katana’s abilities," he stated, his tone filled with interest and curiosity.
Malrik didn’t hesitate to reject him. "It seems we have nothing to talk about then," he spoke as he immediately lost all interest.
Seeing Malrik reject him, Asher simply shook his head, as he had already anticipated such an answer. He simply gave a light smile as he continued.
"Do you remember the mercenary-like Instructor I introduced to you after the Qualification Round at the Thalvorn Empire?" He asked.
Malrik nodded as he spoke, "I believe he went by the name FatelessPen."
Asher crossed one leg over the other as he leaned into his seat and spoke, "Hoooo! You remember him. It seems he left a good impression."
"I have a working brain, that’s all," Malrik replied flatly.
Hearing Malrik’s words, Asher simply shook his head in an amused manner as he continued, "Well, that guy is a Crownstar Life Ranker and is more powerful than you may think or know. If you approach him, you can easily recruit him."
Asher knew that FatelessPen had some sort of a fan of Malrik. If Malrik met him, he was sure that FatelessPen would instantly say yes before Malrik even finished trying to convince him.
Malrik stayed silent for a moment as his mind went back to FatelessPen. Although he had a good impression of the guy since he protected his siblings, it was simply just that, a good impression, nothing more.
’I would have to spar with him to know if he is strong enough to be my Vice Commander, and that would be after his background check,’ Malrik concluded to himself.
A potential Crownstar Life Ranker and a Crownstar Life Ranker. He was a bit happy about it, after all, he had only come here to say congratulations to his younger brother, and that was all.
But what Malrik didn’t know was that FatelessPen would be insanely happy once a battle between the both of them was suggested. FatelessPen might die of happiness at such a suggestion.
As Malrik was lost in his thoughts, Asher took out his phone and decided to text FatelessPen.
{You: Hey, Fateless, just recommended you to my brother, Malrik. He will try to recruit you as his Vice Commander in a few days or weeks, maybe months, I don’t know when. I’ve done my part. So prepare a big gift; anything on par with the Fruit Of Dawn will do... hehehehe. *Wink Emoji*}
With that sent, his phone vanished into his system inventory once more.
"So, what test did Cindralis give you?" Malrik asked as he was done with his thoughts.
Asher’s purple eyes shifted towards Malrik as he replied, "None. She was going to give me one initially, but she later said she found nothing suitable for my current power, so she just allowed me to graduate," he explained.
Malrik nodded as he spoke, "I see..."
"Do you think Thalric would drop out?" Asher suddenly asked.
"He won’t," Malrik replied as he shook his head. "Every Wargrave has graduated from the Star Academy till now. I’m sure he wouldn’t want to be the first dropout in the family." He paused for a moment, then continued, "Although if he drops out, nobody would really care," he added.
