Getting there, he floated and stared down at everything, his purple hair and clothes dancing in the wind. He looked around at the white clouds as the sun’s rays fell on his face and body. After a moment, he allowed himself to plummet, his body free-falling as though he had forgotten how to fly. He closed his eyes yet again as he enjoyed the feeling of falling from over a thousand feet in the air.He had been stuck at the training facility for eight months; expecting him to just come out and walk around and talk like he hadn’t seen the sun or felt the wind for eight months was insane.
Everything he did now was part of the routine of readjusting to the outside world he hadn’t seen. As he fell, his body vanished as he shifted to the second layer of space. The moment he reached the forest, he landed with a deft touch. The moment he landed, the sensation made a question flicker into his mind.
If the second layer of space made him intangible to everything on the first layer of space, why could his feet still touch the ground and he remained standing? Although he didn’t get the raw feeling of the ground under his feet, he still ’felt’ his foot touching it as though his mind was simply producing the sense of touch.
But, aside from that, why didn’t he just sink into the ground since the earth outside was in the first layer of space?
’I should stop thinking. I’m done with training for now.’ Asher shook his head as he tried to delete the habit of questioning everything he had picked up over the past six months due to constant training.
With that, he started walking ever so slowly. As he walked, he stopped by and gazed at a worm as it crawled forward. Staring at it for a moment, he turned and continued walking, his eyes shifting to every bird he saw on the way.
Although the Sunstone Field had butterflies and insects, he still stared at everything here. It was as though he was some newborn baby seeing the world for the first time and staring at everything with burning curiosity.
Asher walked out of the forest. At the moment he was at the back of the main estate building, he walked over to the front where the garden was. The maids and butlers that were usually moving around so much seemed to have reduced in number. Although he still saw them, they weren’t in great numbers like before. And for some reason, security seemed tighter.
Asher’s eyes flickered with an unknown thought as he remembered seeing a dome over the Wargrave Territory. Initially, he had thought it had been deployed for the usual Monster Tide Invasion and stuff like that.
’I shouldn’t overthink it,’ he thought to himself as he walked into the building.
Nobody bowed in his direction, as no one sensed him since he was within the second layer of space at the moment. Stepping into the building, he walked up the staircase. He walked past everyone without a word, and everyone did the same, as he was technically not there.
Getting to Azaron’s study room, Zarek could be seen standing at the door as usual, his butler suit tailored as he wore his usual white gloves. Even Zarek, who was a Crownstar Life Ranker, couldn’t sense him, which was understandable. With a smirk on his face, Asher walked through Azaron’s door, his body not interacting with it.
Azaron could be seen going through papers as usual, but this time, they were stacked high. The man flipped through every page, his golden eyes dancing through each line.
Asher walked towards the man who didn’t seem to notice him. He walked around the table and looked at the paper in Azaron’s hand. Whenever he, Asher, came into Azaron’s study, the man was always reading through one document or the other. Asher was simply too curious to find out what the man was reading at the moment.
As his eyes fell on the paper, Asher’s expression turned into a slight frown. The content was a report from an Outpost, one under the Wargrave name. The report contained a detailed account of what had transpired at the Frontier. Apparently, a Myth-class Monster and a Rank 8 Emovira had joined hands and attacked the Outpost.
Of course, these Monsters and Emovira came with their minions. The soldiers stationed at the Frontier fought, but they had won at an immense cost. Five thousand soldiers had been wiped out, while fifteen thousand were injured critically. The Vice Commander had fallen to one of the Monsters, while the Commander who wrote the letter was suffering from her own injuries.
Asher couldn’t help but consider the scale of such a battle. A Vice Commander falling was no simple matter, and the Commander suffering her own injuries, with the soldiers also practically being half dead, simply meant that the Outpost was open to being erased and wiped out in totality if another enemy made a move.
On the report, it detailed that the Emovira had died and the Monster escaped but was critically injured. And with the death of the Vice Commander, the injured Commander couldn’t afford to chance an enemy into the enemy zone.
They asked for reinforcements, food, Awakeners with healing abilities, and resources to rebuild the entire Outpost, as it had been broken down to nothing.
Healers were rare, but stationed at each Frontier. However, at the end of the day, healers had their limits and could only heal people of a certain strength. They were limited by their Astra Energy too, as well as their own type of healing abilities.
Could a couple of random healers heal fifteen thousand injured soldiers or even heal the critically injured Commander who was most likely at the Voidstar Life Rank? Definitely not.
’Dangerous,’ Asher thought to himself as he read the report. His eyes tilted to the stack of paper on Azaron’s table, and he couldn’t help but wonder if these papers contained similar reports.
"Zarek." Azaron’s voice came, his tone calm, his expression flat despite the horror of the report he read.
Obviously, the man had experienced worse and read more blood-painted reports than that. To someone like Azaron, who had seen the rise and fall of Outposts and Frontiers, this particular report wasn’t much to worry about, but it didn’t mean he wouldn’t give them what was needed.
The door opened, and Zarek stepped in as he spoke, "At your service."
Without lifting his head, Azaron gave the order.
"Call Jennifer. Have her head to Frontier 394. There should be enough resources in your space rings for everything the people there need," he stated, his voice calm.
"Affirmative," Zarek stated as he bowed.
Although Azaron joked and played around a lot, there was a time for everything, and now wasn’t the time for that.
And as for Zarek’s space rings, Azaron usually had Zarek’s space rings filled to the brim with various items, ranging from food to clothes, bricks, metals, sand, and stuff which was needed for construction, various specialized bandages and creams, and many more.
Although many Frontiers had names, Azaron simply couldn’t be bothered to cram their names, so he simply gave them numbers. Simple and efficient.
