Chapter 1147: Questions [Magic Castle Bonus Chapter ]

Then, the smaller structures below the floating islands were where the Miscellaneous Group resided. It was as though a form of segregation had even been created. Although Asher didn’t understand the point of this, he didn’t complain at all. Whether he slept suspended in the air or not had nothing to do with him.

A bed was a bed, as long as it was neat and comfortable enough.

Personally, Asher was looking forward to his first mission and deployment. Although he understood it might be boring, like clearing a certain area of some weak beasts, he also understood that he couldn’t simply come here and instantly start handling high-profile missions as though he were some novel protagonist when he wasn’t.

"As Cadets, you will all be divided into groups, and you will be overseen by Corporals," Lieutenant Chioma continued as she brought her class to a close. "Although they might be just a single Rank above you, they all possess experience you don’t have, so learn as much as you can and carry out all orders given," she stated.

"Your deployments should begin in a couple of days. In the meantime, you will be approached by those from the Miscellaneous Group. You will be asked questions about the weapons you use, and a weapon will be crafted according to your strength, combat prowess, personal specifications, and designs, as long as they aren’t over the top." Her eyes moved to Asher for a moment before she looked away. "As for those of you with soul-bound weapons, I guess you won’t be needing this."

She looked around before asking, "Any questions?"

At her words, hands shot into the air like bullets from a gun barrel. Lieutenant Chioma looked around before pointing at a woman at the back.

"If possible, can you tell us what to expect during our first deployment?" the woman asked, her tone somewhat resolute. She had a scar on her jaw, and she was definitely a relatively fierce woman.

"Expect everything," Lieutenant Chioma replied. "Your mission might be as simple as killing a rabbit, but during the mission, you might find an End-Class Monster that came out for a stroll and some fresh air after a century of deep hibernation." She spoke slowly. "So, treat every deployment as your last. Treat every battle and every battlefield as though a Rank 10 Emovira is hiding somewhere nearby," she explained.

The woman nodded her head. She was ready to begin her deployment and couldn’t wait.

Lieutenant Chioma gestured towards a man who seemed to be about forty years old. The man proceeded to ask his question.

"As we are being paid ten gold coins, do we have to pay for anything within the Frontier with that money?" he asked, as though he wanted to start planning and budgeting for himself.

At his question, the others nodded their heads.

"No," Lieutenant Chioma answered. "Everything here is free, ranging from food and water to weapons and everything else. We can’t have people fighting for their lives on the Frontlines while still having them pay for their own food." She shook her head.

Her eyes returned to the group. People still seemed to have questions to ask, but Lieutenant Chioma appeared to have had her fill of answering them.

"That will be all for now," she stated, then turned and headed towards the door. As she was about to step out, she paused for a moment and spoke. "I hope that after your first deployment, I can still see the burning determination all of you possess now."

Then, she stepped out without turning back.

The moment she left, the classroom erupted into discussion and noise.

One boy slumped over the table in front of him. "I think my brain is overloading from the amount of information it was just fed," he groaned weakly.

"I need to know where the kitchen is," one person spoke. "I didn’t eat yesterday because I was too happy to join the Frontier. Now, I’m dying of hunger." She held her stomach as it grumbled.

"Personally, I’m happy we will be getting weapons and other supplies," a man sighed as he shook his head. "If we had to buy these things with our own money, then we might remain slaves to the Frontier forever, since any money we make would be spent on staying alive." He leaned back into his seat as he spoke.

Lyra didn’t speak. Her legs remained crossed, her arms folded across her chest as she simply looked around and listened. Although she wasn’t an official Cadet, she somewhat looked forward to the first deployment. Or rather, she looked forward to following the Tenth Sun on a deployment.

"This has to be the longest class I’ve ever sat through," Asher spoke aloud with a sigh. He had skipped a lot of classes back at the Star Academy, only to attend one on his first day at the Algorith Frontier.

"Amitabha," Acker spoke in agreement.

Asher stood up and stretched his body. He enjoyed the sensation before sitting back down. Although there was a door they could leave through, nobody approached it. They treated it as though it didn’t exist. Some started playing around with their Cadet Rank uniforms, while others searched for the inbuilt recording functions.

"The material of these uniforms is insane," one person stated.

"Yeah, the auto-clean function and fit-to-size features are insane. I’ve heard of Nobles having them, but I’ve never seen one, let alone dreamed of having one," another man followed up, seemingly delighted with his Frontier uniform.

Lyra, who was behind Asher, leaned forward and asked, "Young Master, do you care for anything? Water, juice, or wine?" Her tone was calm. After all, her Young Master had been sitting there for a few hours.

Asher shook his head as he spoke. "I’m fine, thank you, Lyra."

Lyra nodded, but the next moment, Acker’s voice came.

"I care for one. Any will be fine. Amitabha." His voice was low and steady. This was the first time he had spoken to Lyra since the eight days they had spent together.

Lyra turned her attention to Acker for a moment before ignoring him, her expression unchanged. She packed everything for her Young Master and nobody else, so unless her Young Master actually ordered her to give anything away, it was best that this bald Buddhist kept swallowing his saliva.

Asher was about to say something when the door through which Lieutenant Chioma had left opened, and another person entered. It was a man this time.
