Asher didn’t need to think or guess to instantly understand what was happening. Something more sinister or dangerous was happening in the second underground space.
It was definitely not naturally made like the Goblin’s cavern earlier, which had been naturally formed by nature. He understood that this place had to be created by someone with a rock ability or someone who had an affinity with the Earth Element.
The underground space they were currently in was used as a decoy to hide the second underground space. After all, someone who discovered an underground space wouldn’t think to check again for another underground space, right?
It seemed simple, but it was smart, and Asher had almost fallen for it.
Almost.
Although he couldn’t see the second underground space like he could see the first, he had concluded it was dangerous for one simple reason. The first underground had a Rank 8 Emovira and a Myth-Class Monster in it, which directly proportionally meant whatever was below had to be Rank 9 or Rank 10.
"Cadet Asher, speak."
Corporal Sonya’s brisk, authoritative voice came as she could sense the shock coming from Asher.
Asher sighed for a moment, then exhaled as he proceeded to explain what he had found out.
"We were being fooled all along. A second underground space exists right beneath this underground space."
His voice was calm as the earlier shock he felt dissipated, but his purple eyes never left the ground.
At Asher’s words, both Corporal Sonya and the four Cadets were speechless. Just like Asher, this was the first time they were encountering such a situation. Corporal Sonya didn’t stay speechless for too long; she immediately asked for information on the current underground space they were in.
Asher explained his findings on the current underground space without hiding any detail, as he had no need to. At his words, the four Cadets’ expressions twisted; they knew there was no way they could remain here.
Stay and fight? That was total madness. At this moment, they were ready to take out their Life-Saving Orbs and get the fuck out of here.
"So this underground space was a diversion all along."
Corporal Sonya stated as she arrived at the same conclusion as Asher, her eyes snapping to the ground they all stood on as she was immediately consumed by her thoughts. After a moment of thought, she spoke calmly.
"We won’t go to the second underground space for now. And since this place is being used as a diversion, we will explore it first."
As she spoke, her eyes shifted towards the tunnel as she finally took in the underground space they had appeared in since they first entered.
The underground space had seven tunnels that they could see at the moment. But from each tunnel, they didn’t sense any presence. If not for Asher’s warning, they would have thought that nothing was close by. The space they stood within was wide, the ceiling above them not exactly high, but high enough for an enclosed space, as it measured fifty meters.
At Corporal Sonya’s words, the four Cadets felt that Corporal Sonya had lost her freaking mind. The Tenth Sun had given them the numbers they needed; they didn’t need to do anything here but leave immediately.
But yet again, they said nothing as the thought to use their Life-Saving Orbs echoed in their minds. But they decided to wait and at least see where this was going.
---
Deep within one of the tunnels, an Emovira that bore zero presence could be seen sitting on a throne. The Emovira possessed a single eye where its face should be, with a nose and mouth below. On the side of its head were horns that curved forward and not upwards.
The Emovira possessed a huge pair of black wings on its back, its shoulders broad and blackish-brown. Black hair flowed down its back as it wore an armor that seemed to have once belonged to a Human. Its eyes remained closed as it wasn’t interested in anything that wasn’t the least bit entertaining. It simply sat without moving a single inch, remaining motionless like a statue.
At the side, a Monster could be seen. It was a Monkey, but clearly an evolved and intelligent type as it radiated the presence of a Myth-Class. The Monkey seemed to snore as its chest rose and fell while it was fast asleep. It lay on its own throne, careless, but its tail swerved through the air, making one wonder whether it was truly asleep or not.
Suddenly, the Emovira’s eyes snapped open ever so slowly, its lips opening as it spoke.
"Hoo!!! It seems after a whole month and a half, this place has finally been discovered."
The Emovira smiled, its smile anything but warm. Its voice was rough, as it wasn’t used to Human speech and tongue as of yet.
The Monkey that was sleeping turned around, its snore coming to an end for a moment as it spoke.
"Why bother with them? They are just weaklings anyway."
As the Monkey spoke, it scratched its behind as it couldn’t be bothered to move from its throne to battle some weaklings. If it wanted to do that, then it wouldn’t be here.
At the Monkey’s words, the Emovira’s warmthless smile turned into a playful smirk as it replied in yet another rough voice.
"Will you be interested if I said it was a Wargrave?"
As the Emovira asked the question, its singular huge eyeball shifted towards the Monkey’s direction as it wanted to see the Monkey’s reaction to his words.
And indeed, the Monkey reacted.
It immediately shifted from a lying position into a sitting one as the fur on its body instantly rose, but whether it was from fear of the Wargrave family or from the pure excitement of facing a Wargrave, only the Monkey and Emovira knew.
Its head whipped in the direction of the tunnel leading down towards the location where Asher, the four Cadets, and Corporal Sonya were. Its eyes focused as its vision crossed the distance easily, its gaze falling on the six Soldiers.
"Is it the woman? She seems to be leading them."
The Monkey asked with interest and a wide smile as it stroked the small beard on its chin in pure ecstasy.
The Emovira sighed as it shook its head in exasperation.
"This is why I said you should know which Wargrave is which before you challenge the wrong one and die a pitiful death."
It stated, a tired expression appearing on its face as it was tired of advising this Monkey since they came to know each other.
"And no, the woman is just a Corporal-ranked Soldier. The Wargrave is the purple-haired Human, the Tenth Sun. He goes by the name Asher."
The Emovira paused for a moment, then added in the same rough voice.
"You should have watched the Inter-Empire Tournament. The Tenth Sun was the winner at the time, the final attack he used at the time powerful enough to even injure beings of our level if caught off guard."
At the Emovira’s words, the Monkey stayed silent for a moment, then spoke as it leaned back into its throne.
