Chapter 1174: Grand Regent

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Asher looked at them for a moment, then walked away as he made his way towards the first door within the corridor. Walking through the door, his eyes fell on a group of Velkarin Empire Soldiers who were sparring, moving from one hand-to-hand combat technique to another.

The chamber was extremely wide as other Velkarin Soldiers could be seen practicing with their weapons, sweat filling the ground as they moved.

Asher turned around and walked away. He moved towards the next door, and there, another group could be seen sleeping without a shred of care in the world. Every room he visited, various Soldiers could be seen doing different things.

The underground bunker was immense, to say the least. Just by walking around, Asher had counted three million Soldiers, some displaying their Life Ranks, some not displaying their Life Ranks.

He was literally speechless. He couldn’t help but wonder how Vice Commander Michaelson Novrak, Vanessa Thorne, and Ryuk Silverleaf, the Third Great Elder, hadn’t noticed this until now.

Back at the Star Academy, when the Vandross Empire had infiltrated the Empire as mere bandits, the Zarethorne Empire had found out then, and the number wasn’t up to three million back then.

And now, the Velkarin Empire seemed to have learned from the Vandross Empire’s mistakes and found another way.

Asher’s eyes flashed as he thought of wiping out those he could, but he suppressed the thought for now. He had to find out how many Crownstar Life Rankers were present at the moment. And as for using the Emergency Pulse Bead, the thought didn’t even cross his mind, not because he didn’t remember, but because he didn’t want to use it just yet.

’It took them a month and two weeks to smuggle three million people, and since the Algorith Frontier possesses five million Soldiers, they would want to match that number or go over it by a million. Meaning they plan to start attacking in about a month to a month and a half.’

He deduced as he walked into an area that seemed to be a large dining hall where the Velkarin Empire Soldiers sat and had lunch, chatter filling the air, chatter which Asher hadn’t heard even when he was standing just outside the door.

’It seems the silver metal also possesses the ability to block out sound... which kind of makes sense, as Soldiers from the Frontier would have picked up on this amount of sound if it was made within any means of keeping the sound in check.’

Asher thought to himself as he stood within the dining hall. He couldn’t help but regret for a moment that he didn’t have a poison ability or any poison on him. That would be a good way to wipe out a chunk of them when he decided to.

Although killing three million people alone was easy for someone of his power, it all depended on their Life Ranks and abilities at the end of the day.

Asher sighed mentally for a moment, then turned and left the dining hall. With that, he continued to explore. He came to a stop before a huge door that was larger than anything he had seen till now. Curiosity stirred within his chest. He phased through the door, emerging at the other side. The moment he emerged, his eyes met a huge tunnel that went forward, stretching endlessly, more than his eyes could see.

It didn’t take Asher more than a second to understand that this was the tunnel through which the Velkarin Empire smuggled their Soldiers.

But Asher didn’t know one thing... What was the means of transportation?

According to the information he had, it took one week to get from one Empire to another, and that was with a Crownstar Life Ranker flying at top speed without rest and breaks.

So, how did they transport everyone?

Through another Sky Jet?

The size of the tunnel was too small for a Sky Jet to fit in. After thinking about it for a moment, Asher shook his head as the mode of transportation didn’t matter. At least he had found the tunnel.

’And I’m sure another group of Soldiers are on the way. I wonder how far away they are.’

He thought as he stared into the dark tunnel. It wasn’t even made of the silver metal the entire underground bunker was made of. It was made of just rocks, which made sense. Asher could only guess that the person who created the underground space where he had met the Monkey and the Emovira was the same person who created this tunnel.

And they had to be a Crownstar Life Ranker... or maybe a Radiant Soulstar Life Ranker.

Asher walked away from the door as he headed towards the last area that he hadn’t explored. Although the entire underground bunker was huge, it didn’t take too much time to explore it all.

’This is definitely where the Commander, or whatever the title of the Commander over at the Velkarin Empire is.’

Asher thought to himself as he stared at the door before him with a flat expression. After a moment, he stepped through the door and entered without a shred of hesitation or fear at being discovered.

Entering, Asher’s eyes fell on four people. They were all Black, as they were from the Velkarin Empire, each possessing various hairstyles ranging from locks to twists to dreads.

Three stood in front of a fourth person, a woman, who sat as she stared at the man whom Asher recognized as the First Regent. They seemed to be in the middle of a discussion about something extremely important.

"First Regent, are you telling us that just because you heard a random sound and you didn’t find the cause of the sound, you suddenly think our base has been infiltrated?"

The Second Regent spoke, his eyes shifting towards the First Regent as though he had just heard the most ridiculous thing on the planet.

"First Regent, while I understand that you are the cautious type, but is this a bit too much? It could just be a random spoon hitting the ground, and the Soldier picking it up and leaving before you could arrive."

The Third Regent spoke as he shook his head, believing that the First Regent was simply too cautious as always.

The woman sitting in front of them didn’t speak. She merely stared at the three men standing before her, then her gaze focused on the First Regent.

She was the Grand Regent, the Overseer of this operation. And at this moment, she couldn’t allow anything to go wrong, or the Emperor would have her head.

She crossed her leg and leaned back into her seat as she began to speak.

"First Regent, do you have any other theory or evidence to support your claims?"

She asked, her tone soft and flat as she met the First Regent’s eyes.

The First Regent stayed silent for a moment, then shook his head as he indeed had no more evidence to present. But still, he had an argument that supported his claim.

"But isn’t it a bit too coincidental that the day the Frontier discovered the decoy underground space above, I also picked up a sound that has no source?"

He asked, his tone and expression calm as he refused to be caught off guard by an ambush from the Algorith Frontier. They were supposed to be the ones who caught them off guard, not the other way around.
