The Grand Regent sat as she spoke in a calm tone, holding the letter containing the replies from the other underground bunkers in her hands."Unfortunately, First Regent, it seems your reputation for paranoia isn’t enough to make the Empire change its schedule."
Her tone was a bit playful as she spoke, her eyes still on the letter.
The First Regent sighed as he shook his head, as he seemed to have expected this outcome from the jump, but still wanted to report his findings and thoughts.
"Well, it’s not like I could fight the Empire if it doesn’t listen to what I have to say."
He stated as he didn’t bother arguing or convincing the others. If anything went wrong, it had nothing to do with him; he would merely hold back the enemies.
"Well, there is something else you could do, you know."
The Third Regent’s voice came as he crossed his hands against his chest, a small smile appearing on his lips, his tone teasing.
The First Regent’s eyes turned towards the Third Regent as he wanted to know what this guy had to say, although he was sure the man was just playing around with him.
"You could just defect from the Velkarin Empire and start a coup, overthrow the Mad Emperor, and save everyone."
The Third Regent spoke in a joking tone, as he suggested something outrageous.
At his words, the First Regent simply shook his head, as he had expected some wild statements from the man, although he hadn’t expected something this wild.
The Second Regent simply stood at the side without caring to join the discussion.
Although the Third Regent had called the current leader of their Empire a Mad Emperor, neither of the three gathered within the room reacted to it. As long as the Third Regent was daring and stupid enough to say it outside this room, they didn’t exactly care.
"Anyway, I guess I would be heading back to my room."
The Second Regent finally spoke since the Grand Regent was done passing along the reply she got from the other underground bunkers. As he turned, the First Regent and Third Regent also turned to walk away, as they had nothing more to say or add, although they had secretly wished that the schedule for the attack had been moved up, but alas, they could only wish and hope.
But before they could go far, a voice echoed through the chamber in an exasperated tone, accompanied by a sigh.
"You know, sometimes the overthinker is right. You guys should have listened to the First Regent. Not that I blame you guys anyway."
At those words, the four Regents paused in their positions, their eyes widening in pure shock and horror, the hair on their bodies rising like cats. The next moment, their heads snapped towards the direction the voice came from in tandem.
Their eyes fell on a boy who stood seven feet six inches tall. He possessed purple hair, matching purple eyes, and a handsome face that seemed to insult ugly people. He leaned against the wall with his hands crossed against his chest and one leg crossed over the other as he stared at them with a calm smile and an indifferent, calm demeanor.
The First Regent, Second Regent, Third Regent, and Grand Regent didn’t need to think or guess who the person standing before them was, as their brains gave them an answer before conscious thought could form.
The Tenth Sun, The Crusher Of Talent, The Dominator, The Eclipser; Asher Wargrave.
They were all familiar with him, as they had seen and watched his battles and fights during the Inter-Empire Tournament almost a year ago.
Normally, the four of them would have reacted with killing moves, or tried to catch the Tenth Sun and pin him down or seal him or something along those lines. But none of them did at the moment for a single reason; if the Tenth Sun was here... then another Wargrave was definitely nearby.
Their eyes scanned around, dancing throughout the chamber, their senses expanding as they sensed nothing amiss, but still, their thoughts, minds, and bodies didn’t calm down, as they knew there was definitely somebody else here. To them, it was impossible that the Tenth Sun would brazenly walk in here without any contingencies in place.
’I knew, I fucking knew it.’
The First Regent screamed in his mind as he knew he wasn’t overreacting, but couldn’t exactly do anything about it when the higher-ups decided to ignore his claims.
The other three Regents could only frown, as they also knew they should have listened to the First Regent, and now they were caught off guard. They could only wonder how many people the Wargraves had here at the moment that surrounded this place.
Besides, they didn’t even know the Tenth Sun had joined the Algorith Frontier; this came as a pure surprise to the four of them. They could have never have guessed he was an infiltrator even if they believed the First Regent.
’No wonder I got the feeling of being watched a couple of minutes ago.’
The Grand Regent thought to herself as she was standing at the moment. How could she remain seated?
This was the reckless thing Asher had decided to do. Since there were barely a few seconds remaining on the timer, he decided to mess with these four Regents. He was banking on the element of surprise and their overthinking as the reason they wouldn’t move to subdue him instantly.
Of course, if this silver metallic underground bunker allowed the use of Astra Energy or Star Energy, Asher would never have come here, but if he did, and the black orbs went off later, these Regents could stop the explosion and destruction, thereby saving their Soldiers. But since everyone was restricted, whether he appeared here or not, millions would die regardless.
Asher, seemingly understanding the fact that they were looking for another Wargrave, simply decided to speak.
"No need to search, there are no other Wargraves here. I’m alone. And besides, my body here is merely a clone, so even if you do anything, it wouldn’t matter. There is no way I’m stupid enough to appear before a Crownstar Life Ranker and three Radiant Soulstar Life Rankers with my real body."
He stated with a smile on his face as he lied through his teeth as easily as telling the truth.
But the four Regents didn’t believe a single word that left his lips. Their minds spun as they considered various possibilities, although they subtly believed the body here was a clone, as indeed someone like the Tenth Sun wasn’t dumb enough to appear here with his real body.
"How did you get in?"
The Grand Regent asked, her brow and forehead creasing as she stared directly into Asher’s eyes.
Asher tilted his head to the side as he answered calmly.
"Through the door."
His thumb pointed towards the door as he spoke, as he stated the obvious, as this chamber had no window. In fact, nowhere else had a window.
The four Regents stayed silent as they knew the Tenth Sun was playing around with them. They knew he understood that they were asking how he got into their underground bunker in the first place and not into this chamber.
