Chapter 1186: Failed To Account For

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Back at the Algorith Frontier, an old man with white hair on his head and a white beard on his jawline, both perfectly combed and kempt. His face was wrinkled, as one could see signs of old age on his body, while all four of his limbs were so thin that anyone would assume that a random wind could sweep the old man off his feet and kill him.

But despite his age, the man was simply two hundred years old. He could have chosen to look younger, but no, he wasn’t like others who kept their youthful appearances; he preferred this appearance.

He was the man who had spoken loudly to Asher, Lyra, Kent, and Acker Holloway when they had first approached the Algorith Frontier, demanding they introduce themselves. He was in charge of all corners of the immense wall that covered the Algorith Frontier; nothing approached the walls or exited it without him knowing.

At this moment, his eyes were closed as he focused on nothing but pure cultivation as he sat in a lotus position. But as he cultivated, a frown appeared on his face as he vanished from where he sat. His figure appeared above a high tower stationed before the wall within the Algorith Frontier.

The moment he appeared, he tore through the roof, shattering it and startling the Soldiers there as he arrived at what seemed to be a control room. He instantly pulled down a red lever without a shred of hesitation.

The moment he pulled the red lever, the mechanism that had been kept in place for the protection of the Algorith Frontier activated in less than an instant. A gigantic pink dome covered the entirety of the Frontier as it extended even beyond the Walls.

The moment the pink dome was activated, before any of the Soldiers could as much as blink, the combined destructive force and power of fifteen black orbs slammed into the barrier without missing a beat.

The Soldiers within the Frontier who hadn’t gone on any deployments for the day were shaken as they felt the pure force from the barrier reach them. But there was no earthquake within the Frontier, no building was destroyed, no nothing, as the pink dome tanked it with ease.

Soldiers who were resting immediately, or playing around to ease the stress of their past and previous missions, immediately shot to their feet. Nobody needed to be told to know that an attack had reached the Frontier.

Weapons were drawn, Astra Energy of various intensities flashed through the air as Soldiers moved, ready to face whatever was happening head-on.

They all stood outside their various buildings as they stared at the sky, looking at the gigantic mushroom-shaped apocalyptic scene as even the clouds seemed to turn black from the sheer power.

Asher’s calculation had proven correct, the Frontier did have a dome that could stop the destruction, and was even capable of tanking the power of a Crownstar Life Ranker before it cracked and shattered into motes of light.

Even if the Algorith Frontier didn’t, this old man could have stopped the explosion by himself by unleashing his Astra Energy as he stood at the Radiant Voidstar Life Rank.

But, although Asher had made plans and various calculations before carrying out his plan, there was something Asher hadn’t accounted for, as it seemed to have slipped his mind.

Earlier, when Asher and the other Cadets who were on the same deployment as him were on the move, prior to him finding the decoy underground space, Corporal Sonya had told them in passing that just ahead of them were various Soldiers who were also checking in on various Monster ecology.

This was the factor Asher hadn’t factored into his calculations and plans.

For all his intelligence, and ridiculous mind and sense in planning, anticipation, and adaptation, he had failed to account for other Soldiers on various missions. Soldiers who were within the four-hundred-kilometer blast radius.

Not only did he not account for his own fellow Soldiers, he hadn’t accounted for the possibility of an End-Class Monster being within this blast range, waking up from its slumber in range, and unleashing a war and massacre upon the Frontier.

Could Damian Wargrave hold off an End-Class Monster and a Crownstar Life Ranker at the same time?

Beyond the Algorith Frontier Walls, and ahead of the current location where Asher floated, tens of kilometers ahead, a figure could be seen flashing through the forest before the explosion could reach some Soldiers. The moment the blurry figure appeared, the Soldier would suddenly vanish, appearing back at the Frontier as they had been teleported.

The blurry figure didn’t stop; he moved continuously and endlessly, the count of the Soldiers he had saved increasing with each passing moment as he moved with his hand clasped behind his back, and within the matter of two seconds, hundreds of Soldiers had been saved and returned to the Frontier.

The blurry figure finally came to a stop, his black hair dancing to the rhythm of the wind, the white uniform he wore also flapping to the wind of the forest. His head shifted in the direction of the explosion that rocketed towards him in slow motion within his perception.

It was none other than Damian Wargrave.

"Sigh, this Grandnephew of mine really knows how to make things interesting."

He stated in a tone filled with nothing but amusement as he shook his head. He stayed silent for a moment as a small smile appeared on his lips, simply waiting for the explosion to reach him.

Barely minutes ago, he had received a report from a General who passed the report to him from Corporal Sonya, as a Commander of a Frontier and Outpost wasn’t so easily accessible by any random Soldier.

Originally, he had been waiting at the decoy underground where Asher had killed the Emovira and Monkey. He didn’t tear through the underground bunker as he simply wanted to observe how the youngest was going to handle the matter.

He just hadn’t expected the Youngest to plant bombs and explode everything like a terrorist.

Damian’s eyes shifted towards another direction. That was the direction where an End-Class Monster was hibernating, for over a century without causing any trouble, and now it was going to wake up.

As for why Damian hadn’t tried to kill this End-Class Monster until now, he simply had no reason to. The End-Class Monster was simply too far away from the Frontier, so he had no reason to mess with a peaceful Monster that simply wanted to spend its entire time sleeping.

Damian shook his head, then turned away and walked into the explosion as it engulfed him whole while he walked away. At the moment, the End-Class Monster wasn’t his priority, as whether the End-Class Monster would attack or not was still not yet known.

As for now, he needed to handle the presence of a Crownstar Life Ranker which had suddenly appeared in the distance. As the smoke shrouded him, he vanished from where he stood and reappeared at the Frontier.

He stared down at the pink dome, his senses sweeping the entire Frontier to make sure no other surprises came. As he confirmed nothing was wrong, he vanished once more as he headed towards the battlefield, his expression remaining calm despite the chaos unfolding beyond the Walls.
